  1. Keep sticking with it - well worth the effort. I was wheat free from last September and gluten free since 6th May (except for 4 days when G.P. asked me to go back on gluten. It gets easier and now I'm finding it second nature. The improvement in my health keeps me going when I smell fresh produce in a bakery!! That was the one good thing about the four...
  2. Further to my problems with my employer instigating disciplinary procedures for being on sick leave - I went back to work a fortnight ago and by the third day my fatigue had returned. I kept working but was back to basically just working and sleeping. I came home from work on Thursday night to a letter summoning me to a disciplinary hearing regarding my...

  7. We eat out twice a week, mostly at our favourite local restaurant. When I was diagnosed as coeliac, I informed the waiting staff and the chef and I've had no problems. Chef does alternative sauces and salad dressing for me and even comes out to give me gluten free cooking tips. I wouldn't eat in cafes or fast food places and have found pubs to be a hit or...

  12. You're right!! The map is such a good idea and can only get better the more people that know about it and add to it. It'll certainly make life easier when out and about.
  13. My fatigue and brain fog initially got worse but I started to improve after a month. Once I started to improve I felt a bit better every day. My daughter, who was diagnosed 2 years before me, started to feel better after a fortnight.

  15. I've justed added my favourite local restaurant. Great idea! Thanks for making me aware of this.

  18. I've only been diagnosed as coeliac for two months but so far I've had really good response when eating out. We're regulars at a local restaurant and the first time I went post diagnosis I told the waiting staff and asked them to check with the chef if I could have my favourite drambuie sauce. The chef came out told me that I couldn't have the sauce or...
  19. My daughter was extremely thin when she was diagnosed over two years ago. She went up three dress sizes but has now dropped one and is looking healthy and wonderful. I'm the opposite and have struggled with my weight for years, despite being very careful about what I eat. It got increasingly worse over the past three years and despite sticking to Slimming...

  21. You're A Big Girl Now - Bob Dylan
  22. It does get easier. I made mistakes at the start with things like soya sauce and Lee & Perrins. I foolishly just never thought to check those although I read the ingredients of all 'foodstuff'. I don't have a problem cooking at home and my favourite local restaurant has been great since I told them. The chef tells me what I can have and offers to makes...

  24. I was back at G.P. yesteray and told him that I only lasted a couple of days of gluten and started to improve once I went back to gluten free. He told me that he supported my decision. I found the nutrionist helpful (if very expensive!). I'm currently on a 28 day programme with the first 14 days focussing on gastrointestinal healing and the second 14 on...
  25. You're lucky if it's sunny Devon - raining all day here in Lanark. I was diagnosed on 6th May and have found this forum to be a godsend. Have you also joined coeliac uk?
