  1. Yes, the main reaction was debilitating fatigue. I couldn't understand where I'd been glutened as I'm very careful and house is gluten free. It was my son-in-law who got me to think beyond food cross-contamination and go through everything I'd done which was different. The only thing was that I'd changed to Dermalogica skin care. I then checked ingredients...
  2. I also had problems which turned out to be from cleanser, exfoliator and lip balm. They were wonderful products from the dermalogica range but contained wheat. The company were great however, not only did they supply a full list of their products which were gluten free but deducted the cost of the problematic products from my next purchase. I use kerastase...
  3. Great posts on this thread! I was diagnosed at 53 and can really relate to Finally@45.
  4. Do I Ever Cross Your Mind - Dolly Parton
  5. I'm beginning to worry - back on gluten for scope and bioposy and last three days have not been good. Let you know how it goes. I Wish I Was A Girl - Counting Crows
  6. I was only diagnosed in May so too early for my success story, although I now have good days, but I can share my daughters story with you, Twizzel. Since my daughter was 5 years old I had taken her to doctors and emergency rooms, only to be told that I was an over-anxious mum. When my daughter was eighteen a consultant told her that she was a drama queen...
  7. When I was originally diagnosed I thought that I would have to give up malt whisky. Thankfully, the distillation does indeed work and I have no issues with it. My favourite is Highland Park from Orkney.
  8. You're A Big Girl Now - Bob Dylan (Got tickets for next Saturday in Glasgow, fingers crossed that I'll be fit!)
  9. To the best of my knowledge, they contain gluten. Most of Kettle Crisps are okay but you have to check the individual flavours. If you live in the UK, Tesco own make of lightly salted, ready salted, sweet chill and sundried tomato, garlic and basil are ok. Also the following from their Finest range; lightly salted, mature cheddar & caramelised Onion...
  10. Cowgirls Don't Cry - Brooks and Dunn
  11. I think that you've picked up the posts wrong. It's not that you have to be gluten free before the scope but that if you've been gluten free for a while then you have to go back on gluten before the scope as the villi may have started to heal and you would get a false negative. I originally requested that my G.P. didn't refer me to GI as I didn't want to...
  12. New Morning - Bob Dylan
  13. Thanks. It was my first time in a non-English speaking country since my diagnosis and my little phrase book made all the difference. It's good that it has 4 languages in it and is small enough to fit in even my smallest handbag. We went to Andorra so the Spanish translation was used. We're off to Germany for a long weekend at the end of October and it...
  14. You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart
  15. I recently spent 3 weeks in France. Before I went I purchased Multi-Lingual Phrase Passport (Part of the Let's Eat Series and Allergy Free Passport) from Amazon. It has translations in French, German, Italian and Spanish for coeliac disease and common food allergies. The phrases that I used most in restaurants were; I have a condition called coeliac disease...
  16. I Should've Known Better - Jim Diamond
  17. Chicken tossed in gluten free flour and browned, onions, garlic, tomatoes, tomato puree, dry sherry, stock and fresh basil and thyme. Bunged in the slow cooker and will be ready tonight. Still to decide what I'm serving with it.
  18. You've Got A Friend - James Taylor
  19. I originally refused the scope and biopsy( May this year) as I didn't want to go back on gluten. However,my G.P.(who is very good and diagnosed me on blood results and my daughters having coeliac))persuaded me In June that it would be in my best interest to be referred to GI. I've had my appointment and I'm getting it on 26th Oct and the GI requested that...

  22. Just back from Cathar country in South of France. Whilst there I read the Labyrith by Kate Mosse. I couldn't put it down but I'm not sure how much I was influenced by being there - it's such a fascinating area. A chick lit author that hasn't been mentioned yet is Katie Fforde. Good for a light read.
  23. I had an irrational fear of maps and anytime I was a passenger in a car and the driver handed me a map I went into a blind panic. Then after I'd been dating my now husband for a couple of months, we were invited to take part in an observational rally. I told him that I absolutely could not navigate and he would need to ask someone else. He very patiently...
  24. Time Of The Season - The Zombies
  25. The chapel cut into the rock was really amazing. It's in the Galamus Gorge and you walk part of the way down the gorge to get to it. It's In Languedoc on the D7 past Saint Paul De Fenouillet. It sounds like we like the same kind of holidays. Apart from having a few meals out, I bought fresh produce and cooked simple meals which we ate on our terrace. Majority...
