  1. Have you tested for a fructose malabsorption? Chex has a lot of sugar in it.
  2. I have been keeping a food diary. I enter what I eat, using what for plates and utensils, what I cooked food in and any reaction. I think Mushroom hit it saying that we just need to recognize symptoms of other intolerances. I've been on a very basic diet and reintroducing certain foods to test for reactions. That is how I found out about soy. I never...
  3. I react in 25 minutes and could practically set a clock by that. It is very consistent.
  4. I have been gluten free since May 8 of this year. I discovered an intolerance to soy about 90 days ago. Now I am reacting to sugar in fruits and sodas. How long has it taken you since going gluten free to find other food intolerances? Sorry if this has been covered, but I have not found a thread on it.
  5. For anyone not in Texas, check store brand vitamins made by Perrigo. In Texas, HEB is a huge grocery chain. HEB vitamins contain soy. There is nothing on the bottle, but I called the manufacturer and they confirmed soy. I had been reacting to something consistently and was having a terrible time trying to figure it out. I thought the HEB Senior Complete...
  6. I also felt really good after going gluten free, but now (100 days in) even the smallest amount of gluten just destroys me. I wouldn't eat a bread crumb for any amount of money.
  7. Check out this thread. Don't know if will be related, but it sure helped me.
  8. Thanks for your comments. I wonder how many others might be plagued by this knowing that many will start supplementing after a diagnosis. No more plop, plop, fizz, fizz, but oh what a relief it is!
  9. Finally FOUND it, but it wasn't gluten. I studied all the vitamin supplements I have been taking and most contain magnesium stearate. Suddenly I had a flashback to adding epsom salt, which contain loads of magnesium, to bath water a few years ago. My skin absorbed enough magnesium to cause diarrhea. I tried to figure out when I added all the supplements...
  10. I am OK with dairy, but not soy. I wiped the entire kitchen down with a cleaner and paper towels, then did it again. Same with fridge. Am not using paper plates and plastic utensils trying to get this figured out. I use the same shampoo I have used for a couple of years and even if I don't shower I can get a gluten type of response 25 minutes after eating...
  11. Great point about the silverware drawer. The toaster used to sit above it on the counter. Looks like it is time to hand wash everything and store it elsewhere.
  12. I've read a lot about how skeptical family members can be. I finally figured out a way to explain what malabsorption can do. I simply ask what would happen if I deprived you of 90% of your needed protein. Of if I deprived you of carbs or iron or calcium or vitamin C, etc. Anyone with a clue about nutrition generally starts to understand what gluten intolerance...
  13. Can 30 year old, nicked up stainless steel utensils harbor hidden gluten? How about a 20 year old dishwasher? I start the day OK and somehow get glutened even though I am incredibly careful as to what I eat. Any insight would be appreciated.
  14. You may develop other food intolerances or may already have them. Lactose, soy and eggs are the first to look out for. Keep reading here because there are a lot of people who sound more informed than most of the medical community.
  15. I read that the adhesive used in drywall is the problem.
  16. Gluten seems to be treated by the body as a toxin. Think about drinking alcohol. The more you drink, the worse the effect and the hangover. Responding to various levels of gluten is probably similar.
  17. I will eliminate the probiotics too. Wow, so much to learn!
  18. No meds, but started taking a probiotic about a week ago. Have cut all vitamins even though they are gluten free. I do drink coffee in the morning.
  19. I'm pretty puzzled and need help. Over the last week or so I have a solid stool in the morning and it is later followed several times by loose stools or D. I'm starting an elimination diet because I think I am now reacting to lactose and eggs. But why in the world would I be regular in the morning and have trouble later? I am almost certain this is...
  20. Excellent list. Thank you!
  21. Anyone know where I can find the most complete or exhaustive list of celiac/gluten intolerance symptoms? I've read that there are over 240 documented symptoms, but can't find a list of all of them. Thanks.
  22. I am severely allergic to salmon so I take a fish oil product by Spectrum that has oil from anchovies, mackerel and sardines. My sister has high cholesterol and dad has had 2 heart attacks so I think supplementing is a wise thing to do.
  23. A couple of years ago I had to stop doing certain upper body workouts because I developed osteoarthritis in my right AC joint (shoulder). I have also had pain when walking up stairs of hills under my left kneecap for years. Knee pain is gone and shoulder pain is minimal and swelling is down after being gluten free.
  24. Thought so, thanks.
  25. I have a aluminum large pot and cookie sheets with scratches on them. Are they items to get rid of?
