  1. Hey everyone! I have a very fast metabolism, I'm gluten free, dairy free, and mostly egg free... I work long hours, as most of us do, but I find it incredibly difficult to get an appropriate amount of calories and nutrients when work is busy. Then of course I'm exhausted when I get home and make food that isn't very nutritious. I've tried protein...
  2. It's good to know (for me) that you have to take such hefty meds - I've upped my dose a bit, and that has helped. I haven't seen a doctor for this because, unfortunately, I've had a lot of doctors treat me like a hypochondriac. I mean literally, years of me complaining about extreme period pain, and no communication was given to me about what it could...
  3. Hello again everyone! It's been a while since I've posted, but I've run in to another problem lately and just wanted some feedback. I was told that I have a casein intolerance and have since completely gone off of dairy. A few days ago, a friend had me try a dessert from Ecuador that had dairy in it (she's gluten free as well, so I knew it was safe as...
  4. I have had it a few times, and I have a small reaction (So I go to the bathroom 6x per day or more, for a few days). I have a really rough time if I drink a six pack within a certain amount of time. Anywhere from a day or two to a week. If I have one every so often, it isn't as bad. Overall... not that great, other than tasting good. I'd recommend...
  5. I think that wouldn't be too bad of an idea! I don't know how many cars we'll be taking, but maybe I can talk everyone in to letting me keep my own cooler with product from a Costco or Sam's Club or something.
  6. You guessed it, I'll be coming from Grand Junction, unless we make an extremely random side-trip to some other state. I'll keep these in mind anyway thank you!!
  7. I’m going on a family vacation soon, and I’m the only one with dietary restrictions. What grocery store would you recommend going to for gluten and dairy free stuff? Is there a really good family restaurant to visit? Any other recommendations?
  8. I don't know, I hope not. I'm eating only at home, making my own food, and I have a 100% gluten-free kitchen. I'm thinking it might be because I had some gluten-free english muffins about 3 weeks after I was exposed to gluten and then found out they had dairy in them. I'm also strictly dairy free, by the by. I also have cut eggs and soy out of my diet because...
  9. Ugh I know that this should eventually go away, but I'm so, so tired of being in pain and having stomach issues (including loss of appetite). I don't have insurance until February... should I be concerned that it has been over 4 weeks and go to a nurse practitioner in a take care clinic? I don't expect any magical fixes, or anything other than "just make...
  10. As cyclinglady said, it is one heck of a grieving process. Just keep on going, and just go day by day. Stay strong, my friend, we've all been there. We understand what you're going through. *hugs*
  11. It is so, so, hard to give it up at first. Especially if you are the only one in your entire family/group of friends that has to adjust to this. It's okay, we have ALL had our weak moments, especially in the beginning. I can tell I've been exposed to gluten because I suddenly crave it, and I'm filled with a drive to obtain a Big Mac or some other poison....
  12. To be honest, I'm no expert on any religion, so my advice may not be too useful. I tried to go to a Hare Krishna temple when I was newly diagnosed, and they provided such wonderful food. There were a lot of people there that were on a gluten free diet, but I was still so full of anxiety (mainly because I was so new to this and hadn't lost that symptom yet...
  13. Yay!!!! Good luck going forward, but what a weight off the shoulders, eh??
  14. Stay strong, you're making progress! The stomach grumbles are a sign that something is happening. I've been gluten free for 3 years, got glutened 4 weeks ago, and I'm experiencing the SAME EXACT THING. You aren't alone!! I am also dairy free, along with my gluten freeness. I take Realfood Organics brand probiotics. It is plant based and vegan, along...
  15. Someone at the health food store told me to take enzymes to combat my stomach pain (4 weeks after a glutening). I was hesitant, but when I did research online (yes, very dangerous), I found this: So far, two days in, it seems to be helping a bit, along with 1 or 2 ibuprofen per day to help with inflammation. After my last meal (which was mostly protein...
  16. I use Realfood organics daily probiotic. It's vegan, which is great if you can't have the other probiotics.
  17. Cafe mochas alone are *technically* gluten free (meaning, there are no ingredients that say "wheat", and I have never had a reaction, but that's me). With that being said, this is only if you aren't sensitive to cross contamination. The dishes are all washed together. Sadly, not everyone has the same care level as others when it comes to wheat allergies....
  18. Yeah, that makes sense. When I first went gluten free, I read everywhere that oats were bad and hard for the body to process when in recovery mode... So, this is the first oatmeal I've had in ages as well. I can handle gluten free granola, but, eh. I will continue to stay far, far, away from anything oatmeal.
  19. As a heads up to everyone - the drizzle that accompanies the new Caramel Flan Latte (and frappuccino) lists wheat as an ingredient included under "Natural Flavors". The rest of the drink should be okay. Flan Syrup, milk of your choice, espresso, and whipped cream made by hand (in store) with caramel syrup. Just make sure you specify that you want...
  20. I'm in the same boat as you, as far as the stomach pain goes. Perhaps my iron levels explain my fatigue. I take 5,000 mg of L-Glutamine, and maybe 200 mg of ibuprofen per day, if needed. I hope you feel better soon :/
  21. Ah - as it turns out, this glutening was exactly 1 month ago. Perhaps I'm more sensitive to certain foods in my weakened state. Or maybe it's all of the soy I've been having. Regardless, what the frizzle is going on I'm done. Thank you for the advice, everyone. The level of exposure has been true for me - ugh, this must have been oatmeal made...
  22. Hey everyone! I have been strictly gluten and casein free since about 2011, and have been pretty good about avoiding reactions. Whenever I did get exposed in the past, I've noticed that my body reacts a little differently each time, as my body has had more time to heal from my pre-diagnosis self. Recently, when I was hungry at work and desperate for...
  23. Awww mannn I haven't seen a Dunkin' Donuts around my area in years. Come back!!
  24. I'm sorry, I've never really had the opportunity to travel out of the country post diagnosis, so I can't give any recommendations, but (without knowing much about you or your trip) I do know that a card exist to explain the celiac spectrum of dietary needs if you can't find a specific place and struggle with the language! 25. Yep, same problem. I ended up meeting a cool (at the time) guy that was very supportive of my dietary needs, despite my anxieties and major fears of being glutened and then being around him. He actually went as far as to refuse to eat if there was nothing safe for me to eat and even cooked for me a few times after letting me read all of the ingredients. ...
