  1. Wow, that's great! I checked out the sorbets you metioned online. It looks like they're soy free as well. YUM Is that you in your avatar? It's such a beautiful picture!
  2. We use stevia, agave, NOW vegetable glycerin (coconut derived, not corn.) We don't use artifical sweeteners anymore, they tend to give me headaches.
  3. Sorry, I wish we had one close to use as well. We just have Baskin Robins. Dollywood has Mini Melts, does anyone know if these are gluten-free? This may be a dumb question but...do scoop shops wash the scoops in between scooping the different flavors?
  4. Thanks sooooo much for posting this. We don't have an Ben & Jerry's close to us but we're taking a day trip to tomorrow and there's one in the town we're visiting. My dd has tons of food allergies in addition to celiac disease and this will make her trip!! Thanks.
  5. I'm in the United Buying Clubs and it's been a lifesaver. I met a lady at my local grocery store and she introduced me to our local group. I truely beleive God helped me to find this group. I started my membership right as we found out my dd had celiac disease. In my town we don't have a Whole Food's or Trader Joe's so I would be lost without this resource...
  6. Did you use the Amazing Bread Mix? I've tried the mix a couple of times and we really like it as well. My dd is egg free and they have directions on the bag for the egg free version. I used Ener-G Egg Replacer in my bread. I found that I had to let is rise atleast double the amount of time that the bag suggested. Since I'm not using egg, I've found that using...
  7. I second the ginger!! I like Alvita Ginger Root Tea with honey. The ginger is so healing for a sore throat and is also great for colds and an upset stomach. I can usually find the tea at my health food store. I usually try to keep a box on hand for emergencies!! Hope she gets to feeling better soon.
  8. Like Shaysmom, my dd has many food allergies as well, dairy, egg, soy etc. Nuts and nut butters (such as almond) can be very helpful for caloric intake but aren't great for those of us with food allergies. I used to give my dd almond butter but we found out she's allergic to almonds and other tree nuts. I give my dd fruit smoothies alot!! I buy...
  9. I have been drinking Stash Teas. I really like them and all of their teas are gluten-free. I've noticed some regular grocery stores are now caring Stash Teas. Open Original Shared Link
  10. We went to Dollywood last year and my dd was gluten-free at the time but I wasn't. I called the director of the food division and she said that I could bring food into Dollywood if I had a note (on a perscription paper) from her Dr. saying that she must carry her food with her. We took some snacks in a bag pack with us to munch on. She told me that if someone...
  11. I like Dagoba Chocolate. They have one variety that doesn't have soy lecithin added. Here's the link, Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I get them through our buying club when they're on special but I've seen them in health food stores as well. The Conacado bar is so rich I usually split one with my dh!
  12. In addition to the other suggestions, I sometimes feel better when I drink tonic water right after being glutened. I get the small glass bottles and carry them in the car with me. I also Have found an herbal blend from Solary that helps with nausea. I usually travel with Airborne as well. Have a great time!!
  13. These are great ideas!! We like pesto and we enjoy having homemade pesto instead of tomato sauce sometimes. My dd has eczema and we've noticed that citrus & tomato breaks her mouth and lips out. So I have to be careful of home much tomato she gets. I've also roasted red peppers and pureed them with olive oil and sea salt for a great pizza spread. Mini...
  14. I used Clinque for years and then it started breaking my face out. This was prior to finding out I had celiac disease. I have really sensitive skin and I love BE!! After a few years of using BE I finally got my mom to switch. dlp252 is right it does last a long time. The only products I get a couple times of year are the foundation and Bare Minerals...
  15. Thanks for posting this....I have a wedding coming up and I'm waiting to paint!!
  16. Of course, double check, but.....I called a couple of months ago and the Hormel Pepperoni was dairy free and gluten free at that time.
  17. My dd is allergic to dairy as well. I haven't found any safe cheese either. She's been dairy free since June of 05' and she's adjusted well. Now we even eat cheese free pizza. She's pretty good about eating veggies so I just top it with lots of them. Her favorite part of pizza is the bread. At first I took pealed zucchini and shredded it to top the pizza...
  18. I've seen lactic acid being derived from beets here recently in a few products. Here's an explantation from Applegate Farms on what lactic acid is and does. Open Original Shared Link Click on "Our Prodcuts & Ingredients."
  19. Wow, this sounds wonderful and I can't wait to try it!! I ended up getting a small container of crab claw meat. From what I could tell all the fake crab did have wheat in it. The real crab wasn't that much more and I tend to like the real thing. I can't wait to fix it with fresh crab from the Outer Banks this summer as well. Crab Cakes are one of my...
  20. I haven't made crab cakes since going gluten-free and I was wondering if anyone had a recipe that they'd be willing to share.
  21. Cornstarch can get a little gooey sometimes. I like to use Bob's Red Mill Pancake Mix a little sea salt and cracked black pepper. I've used it for chicken, fish, shrimp, oysters, onion rings etc. With the chicken this week I used the traditional dreg method. First, roll in the gluten-free flour mix and shake off the excess. Then I dip in rice milk. (I...
  22. I hate when something like that happens!! Here are the new chips I bought. They're a little small than the regular size chocolate chips. Open Original Shared Link
  23. Kroger has this brand.....Open Original Shared Link They have both veggie and rice types. I looked at the rice variety the other day and it listed casien in the ingredient list on the back. I'm not sure how great they taste but it might be a good way to test! I don't know anything about soy yogurt but it may have casien in it as well.
  24. I used Spectrum Organic Shortening and Spectrum coconut oil/butter. I use the 1:1 ratio for both. I saw Kroger was carrying the shortening now. My mom made wonderful eggless, dairy free brownies for me the other day. She used Bob's Brownie Mix, Spectrum Organic Shortening and Ener-G Egg Replacer. They we're incrediable!!!
