ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
CR5442 posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Been researching this issue a lot more because I couldn't understand how Coeliac disease could have an effect on how a muscle in to the duodenum works. I found it. Basically the compound Cholecystokinin is produced by the small intestine and duodenum which in turn encourages the contraction of the gallbladder and the relaxation of the Sphincter of Oddi... -
ARCHIVED Choline - Might Be On To Something!
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Really hoping that someone might have some insight on this! -
Does anyone know of any scientific research on Choline deficiency and Celiac disease. Also any connection to the detox pathway of Oestrogen/Salicylates? Briefly, I've been taking masses of herbs to detox my liver... when Bea (Yolo) on here suggested I might be Salicylate sensitive and by taking herbs have just been going round in a vicious circle. So...

ARCHIVED Wierd Results From Not Eating Veg/fruit
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Skylark, for some reason I don't seem to be able to tolerate any seeds or nuts! Castor oil doesn't seem to have created a reaction yet... it has worked a bit, waiting for the full effect and drinking lots! How much of it do you think one should take with serious constipation? -

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Now i have a completely different problem because of the lack of grains/veggies/fruit. I am highly constipated! Aloe vera does not work with me and taking extra magnesium makes me feel quite dehydrated and ill (though I drink a lot of fluids during the day). I have resorted to castor oil caps on the advise of the... -

You know what Skylark, Yolo (Bea) keeps saying this and I'm beginning to think you both might be right. Very very annoying if that is the case. So the itching is probably an allergic type reaction to the build up in Salicylates/acids? How much would you say is safe to eat in a day? Can you excrete the build up and start eating veg again? -

ARCHIVED Wierd Results From Not Eating Veg/fruit

Thanks for the idea/advise. I'm so not keen on veggie sludge though! I was having the same issues with juicing (even though that was fresh) so had to stop. The big plus is that the generalised itching has stopped so I'm wondering if it is something to do with histamine. -

I don't know if anyone else has tried eliminating all grains, all fruit and most veggies from their diet? Having been gluten free for now nearly 9 months I was getting very frustrated with the continued bloating, liver pain and congestion and general malaise that was just not going away. The other day I got so fed up I decided that I would try a high fat... -
Also don't forget that gluten, though it has torn your villi to shreds, has put a coating of gloop on your intestinal lining, which has protected you to some degree from the leaky gut you would otherwise have. What may be happening is that larger food particles than normal are making their way in to the bloodstream and to the liver, where it is struggling...

ARCHIVED Family Says I'm Paranoid And Should Go Back To Eating Gluten
CR5442 replied to llama3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What other symptoms does your friend have. It is not normal to be woken at all to have a bowel movement in the night and I would hesitate to say that it is IBS, as this is a catch all term for anything the docs can't explain! It could be a particular food intolerance or a number of other things. -
Poor you Alex. Hopefully one day. Can you not do veggie juicing instead?
-
Oh dear, poor poor Graeme. Juicing might be the way forward but I would go with the softest most soothing of vegetables like cucumber and well cooked beetroot (not in vinegar!). Keep away from the acidic stuff like lemons/toms etc. Has he tried warm well cooked white rice with butter. I find that works really well if my gut feels very sore. Gut inflammation...

So feeling for you and your predicament. Families can be very tricky can't they?! I think mine only accept that gluten is bad for me because I was getting awful migraines right up until I stopped eating the stuff. Since then, I haven't had one migraine and it has been 8 months... touching wood here! It does help to keep things to yourself though, I have... -
I tried juicing this morning for the first time and am so glad i did! It had apple, cucumber, celery, carrot, beetroot and ginger and was the best tasting drink I've had in a long time. I was wondering if it might not be better for me to get my veggies/fruit this way as my guts seem to hate dealing with high fibre - whole veggies. Also I've been peeing...

I just saw this and wanted to reiterate what Ravenwoodglass said about anorexia nervosa in young men. My close friend is a psychologist and did her dissertation on this condition. It is a lot more common that one would think. It would definitely be a good idea to speak to his doctor about this. As this is a psychological disease more than anything you...

ARCHIVED Wild Fermented Foods Health Benefits
CR5442 replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Skylark. I so feel for you on the whole food elimination, type of diet thing. It is exhausting just thinking about food. Sometimes it can make one feel quite averse to even going to the kitchen! Interesting about your issue with grains/gluten-free bread etc. I have a similar problem. Like you once or twice a week is about enough. I feel like when... -
I'm not taking anything at the mo so recommendations for multivit/mineral with nothing else added would be really helpful... or perhaps just an anti-oxidant mix you mention above! Thank you Annette!
-
Hey Annette. Thanks for this. Really useful. I was taking a load of calcium/mag/pot before but stopped taking them as I felt like i was messing a bit with my electrolyte balancing. If things don't get better soon on the twitching, stiffness, aching front I might start them up again with these dosages. I used to take slow release potassium which worked...

You guys are all making me laugh - I MUST be feeling better!!! Yes, IH, the migraines do go away... well for me when I was drinking coffee (lots of coffee) and eating gluten I was having migraines that made me feel like i was having a stroke. The last one I had I had trouble moving my left arm and side of the body. I stopped drinking coffee straight away... -

Irishheart. I was wondering about what you said on Migraines and I am sure that migraines begin as a narrowing of the arteries. see attached Open Original Shared Link Then, once the brain realizes it is short of blood then the arteries expand to develop in to the thumping headache some of us get after the Aura. I have had these for many years so feel... -
I am sooo glad Annette that you finally have a proper diagnosis! I remember that you've been in quiet a lot of pain over the months I've been on here. Well done to the doctor who worked it out. I think that German doctors are brilliant because they have the holistic approach that certainly UK docs don't have. If they can't give you a pill for something...

I stand highly corrected! Honestly, I don't really think that Bea meant to put out there a random figure just like that. She must have read it somewhere. If anyone is like me on here, I read so many papers, for my degree and also for personal interest that I often read something, store it away and completely forget where I got it from! Easily done. ... -
I should have read further up... you have a list there!
