  1. I know. It's nuts isn't it! Hopefully I'll be able to come back with a good report in a week or so time.
  2. Thanks PricklyPear. I just emailed my herbalist (he's a third year on my course at Uni and knows a lot more than me) and he said that at the moment the hormones will be fluctuating trying to find the correct level, to persevere and try to rest a bit more! Am feeling a bit better this afternoon so will keep on the dandelion for the time being.
  3. Yes I have before but it did no good at all. My problem is dropping Oestrogen levels I think. Chronic stress and tiredness since having my second child and my husband leaving hasn't helped! Certainly the stress and tiredness are much better. The hot flashes are gone on the herbs and my tolerance levels are much better, but it's like the whole hormone...
  4. Thanks for your replies. That's what I was thinking - re peri-menopause. It is quite possible. The herbs I have been given are balancing herbs. I'm just thinking that i need to be patient and let them do their work. Dong Quai takes about 3-6 months to change the hormone balance to something more comfortable. Guess I'll have to keep taking dandelion...
  5. Having been gluten free now for about 4-5 months I've started to get a real handle on the diet side of things and rarely slip up. My big bugbear now is hormones. I clearly have and have had a problem with hormone balance since puberty! I'm on a herbal prescription which is doing wonders in some areas, like tolerance and hot flashes, night sweats, sleeping...
  6. Hi AVR, really sorry that the excercises are not working. Have you had any physio? The other two things that may help are acupuncture (always a great one for pain that the doctors cannot resolve with drugs!) and ultrasound treatment. Can you get acupuncture through your german doctor's surgery? I know they are very in to alternative therapies there.
  7. Thanks for this Bea. Really useful. Re. the herbs, I was only saying what I'm on for reference. You are right about the salicylates however. Only I don't seem to have a problem with them. Also. re. the alcohol, here they use non grain alcohol for tinctures and production is now tightly regulated, i.e. you can't produce until you get a very expensive...
  8. Just realised forgot to say something about helping the digestive juices flow. From experience I did take cider apple vinegar with mother and a number of other things like aloe, but whilst they helped me go to the loo my last acupuncture session showed that it had no cleansing effect on the liver whatsoever, so I was as clogged up there as ever. Personally...
  9. Bea, I'm grateful to say the itching is completely gone today!! So probably a combination of hormones getting a bit backed up in the liver and the full moon! I put my feet up after lunch and could actually hear and feel the bile making its way out!
  10. Hmmm, how to describe a congested liver... Well there are a number of feelings you can experience. Like Bea the upper right epigastric discomfort or even pain, with some pain/discomfort radiating to the right scapula, underneath the right shoulder blade. You could feel more full or distended on the right hand side after eating and for longer than is comfortable...
  11. This is awesome Bea that you are getting such good results from the herbs. I was doing well until I got to the end of my cycle this month, then had three days of insane itching - it was a big full moon yesterday too. My liver is overloaded again... but I suppose three out of thirty isn't all that bad! We have had some bugs flying around too so I suspect...
  12. Yes, re the hormones. I have always suspected something wierd. I'm at the end of the month now and whilst it is definitely better, some things are still there faintly in the background. However, I used to be awful in the run up to my period. I knew things were really bad when it seemed like i had pmt for about 85% of the month!
  13. Hey Rana It's great that we can all compare notes on our symptoms and hopefully find solutions. I'm on a proper herbal prescription made for me, so not necessarily the right herbs for you. Amongst them are: Schizandra Chinesis, Rosemary, Dong Quai, Borage, Burdock, Siberian Ginseng, Oregon Grape Root. To tell you the truth I feel better than I have done...
  14. It is so interesting that you should say this. Though I'm on a herbal prescription i completely dropped my usual vits/minerals and the wierd thing is that I really don't feel that i need them at all now. I don't get the muscle aches, itching, D and other things that used to bother me so I suppose am very lucky! Like you the vits seemed to be making things...
  15. Hi Rana, I just had a look at your symptoms list again and can say I've recently been having terrible sweating periods in the mornings (feeling much hotter than it actually was) and also pooling in the stomach (with bloating). It doesn't say on your profile if you are a lady or gentleman. For my part I know that I was experiencing quite an imbalance of...
  16. It is possible that your villi are sufficiently recovered to not have the symptoms you previously had during your diagnosis... however that does not mean, as the above poster says, that it isn't doing your gut some harm! I would steer as clear as you can but perhaps heave a sigh of relief that if you do get accidentally glutened you won't exhibit horrid...
  17. Ditto Bigbird and irishheart. Hope you feel better soon sandsurfgirl! It's tough. Sounds like you are going through a low patch. Any time you need to talk, luckily you have all of us!!!
  18. Hi Rana, I have just one question before trying to answer your question. Does the attack go away as soon as you have a bowel movement? What are the symptoms?
  19. We just did the gastrointestinal tract at Uni. When damage occurs it becomes difficult for the gut lining to keep things out of the blood that shouldn't be there. It might be you are reacting to the absorption of larger soy molecules than normal. It's also possible that you are reacting to the oestrogenic effects soy has. Have you had any problems with...
  20. Totally with you all on this. It's taken so long to just relax and realize its just a cold or a strained limb, rather than something to do with celiac. I used to over-analyse everything! Some deep breathing is really helping. And some gardening. My little daughter and I planted over 200 bulbs today!
  21. I'm so glad you're okay! Good to know this about Licorice. I will add that to my herbal list of things to know!
  22. Hi AVR1962, my goodness you could be describing the pain I had almost to the letter. I was struggling to remember the exact path of it but the knee wrapping and the feeling like your toes were going to fall off (I was skiing with the worst of it and honestly I thought I have severe frost bite!), the ball of the foot felt like it was protruding out in to...
  23. Out of interest was there anything else in the herbal remedy?
  24. Your teaching me things I don't know! Bit odd about the salt as Licorice should make you retain it and raise the blood pressure... Nevertheless, sometimes orthodox medicine is much better for things this complicated! I'm so sorry it has been so traumatic for you. I can quite imagine it would make you very nervous about taking anything else! Yes, by the...
  25. Hi Sandsurfgirl. Yes, I have an acupuncturist decongest my liver (it's liver Qi stagnation in TCM, which I suppose is why I call it liver congestion) on a regular basis. Whilst I was eating gluten and other foods my body couldn't cope with it, the congestion just kept coming back. Personally, being now in training to be a herbalist, I would always try...
