ARCHIVED Need Help Recovering From Full On Glutening
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks so much D, however I react to coconut oil and am worried that the coconut milk will be more of the same. Any thoughts on that? I am craving fruit juices so will try some fruit compote and cinnamon later. -
ARCHIVED Need Help Recovering From Full On Glutening
CR5442 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's now day 8 and I still have really bad morning D and dehydration from a severe glutening on holiday. Something i thought was maize turned out to be bulgar wheat so I ate half a cupful of it. Desperately trying to calm my stomach down I've tried Aloe Vera (inner leaf), probiotics (non dairy), chicken and rice and L-glutamine together with rehydration... -
ARCHIVED Why Has My Hunger Craving Hasn't Changed Since Going gluten-free?
CR5442 replied to Renegade's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So wierd about the hunger thing. I got glutened 6 days ago. The following day I was ravenous for the entire day... didn't matter what I ate, I was still starving! Wonder if it has something to do with Grehlin levels (hunger hormone). Apparently much higher in Celiacs than non-celiacs. I was always a little dubious about the 'celiac' self-diagnosis with... -
ARCHIVED Help! Glutened And Still Suffering After Three Weeks
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well it turned out that I wasn't glutened, I had coxsakie virus, which looks a little like chickenpox apart from the lesions. Had some wierd itchy spots but now they have pretty much gone. However, then had a nasty cold, then had a proper glutening eating something i thought was maize but was actually bulgar wheat. Now had D every morning until my gut... -
ARCHIVED Help! Glutened And Still Suffering After Three Weeks
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey everyone. I went to have pulse tests done with my acupuncturist yesterday. It's not thyroid, adrenal or pituitary. I am intolerant to chocolate - that is cocoa... So even without any of the other allergens, milk, soya, coconut etc, I just can't eat it. HOW annoying! So in 21 days of eliminating the chocolate I should feel better - only 17 more days... -
ARCHIVED Help! Glutened And Still Suffering After Three Weeks
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You read my mind Prickly Pear. Thanks! I thought thyroid because of the stomach/puffiness/tiredness and water weight. My acupuncturist could work on that for me. I'm relieved also that the recovery time can vary. I thought as much. We are having a crazy hayfever season with the grass/weeds/trees all coming out together because of our really late snow... -
ARCHIVED Help! Glutened And Still Suffering After Three Weeks
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hmmm, now to figure out what the problem is. Could it be thyroid related? I have a lot of hair falling out at the moment and very puffy eyes/dry in the morning. Feel like I can't get out of bed in the mornings. -
ARCHIVED Help! Glutened And Still Suffering After Three Weeks
CR5442 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I posted a couple of weeks back but had no replies. Can someone tell me is it normal to still be suffered after three weeks from a glutening? In acupuncture my therapist said there were issues with my small intestine... which adds up. But despite her treatment I still have a very quick bowel, dehydration and anxiety/depression/irritability. How long can... -
I was wondering how people's reactions to gluten have differed from say casein reaction. I have had casein reactions that have lasted about three days, with asthma and general dehydration the main symptoms. Having not been glutened for years (yes, two years) I was surprised to be eating chips which normally I am ok with, but with these I could actually...

ARCHIVED 3 Months Into Gfd: Dehydrated And Constipated
CR5442 replied to funkflex's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
BTW a lot of people think the lactose is the problem in dairy, but it is more likely to be Casein, which means you need to cut it all completely from the diet. Tofu and other set forms of soya also contain added Casein so watch out for those. It all comes down to protein chains getting in to the bloodstream that shouldn't be there... because of the damage...- 45 replies

ARCHIVED 3 Months Into Gfd: Dehydrated And Constipated
CR5442 replied to funkflex's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Try ditching all dairy. I had constipation and dryness my entire life when eating dairy... now it's gone! No constipation, no dryness, no brain fog etc. etc. I did have a positive IgG test to Dairy two months ago... still working the toxins out of my system.- 45 replies

ARCHIVED What Causes Sinus/tmj Pain?
CR5442 replied to kittty's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sinus can be related to dairy. I had chronic sinus pain and shoulder/hip pain along my right hand side until I cut out the dairy. I also have an IgG positive test to casein in dairy so it's definitely the culprit. Other things like soya, eggs, white fish etc can cause similar reactions. Apparently all to do with the bonds in the sections of the gut lining... -
ARCHIVED Casein Withdrawal - When Will It Be Over?!
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Cavernio. thanks for your reply. things are already starting to get better. I'm loosing that feeling like I have water oozing from every pore and the water weight is starting to come off too. Tummy still a bit dodgy though and ear still ringing but I suppose it's going to take a while to get everything back to balance. The gluten didn't show on my... -
ARCHIVED Casein Withdrawal - When Will It Be Over?!
CR5442 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi all. I recently had a positive IgG test for Casein so am taking this out of my diet - which would make sense as over the last year I had added it back in after coming off gluten and amongst other things I've had weight gain (crazy!), water retention, hot sweats, itching, wind, constipation etc. Now I'm off it the wind, sweating and constipation are resolving... -
Thanks all. I've never had a full on reaction but they do seem to be getting worse/more defined. My chest starts to close up and I have to drink water until I've washed the histamine out of my system. The NHS are very reluctant to run any kind of tests right now. I've only just been allowed to have another general panel of bloods taken... will be interesting...

Hi everyone. Just wanted to find out if it is normal to suddenly start reacting very distinctly to Soya flour and Eggs? I've been gluten free for a year and 4 months and suddenly started to get tingling lips, itchy face and body and water retention from these two foods. Is there a similarity between soya/egg proteins to gluten. Are there any other foods...

To report back on the potassium supplementation I am starting to see a big difference noteably in my muscle strength, and in ability to have a bowel movement. This time of the month (day 22) I would normally be really struggling to go to the loo and feel very weak, tired and also HOT in the mornings. Now I feel a lot stronger, have a really good BM in the...

That's a relief to know Frieze! Do you take one or two of your slow release K+ daily? I'm on Solgar magnesium at the moment but it is 200mg and I'm not sure my body likes the bulking agent. I might try the magnesium you suggest above. Are you in the UK - if you are who supplies you?
-
Hi Frieze, yes, it is 600mg of potassium Chloride. Mushroom, for your slow release potassium, what amount are you on and do you know what your reading was before you started supplementing? I was borderline low even though i was supplementing between 600-1200mg per day of the above when I was last checked - had had diarrhoea for over 6 months by that point...
-
Mushroom, this is great advice! What amounts of Magnesium do you need to take if say you were taking 600mg Potassium? I was taking 150mg ocassionally but kind of lost faith in whether it was doing me any good or not!
-
I do really well with slow release 600mg per day - I am allowed that over the counter because of the crazy food limitations I have. I am only allowed Bananas in the fruit group because of salicylate sensitivity but can only take one a day because of starch/sugar issues and therefore most of the vegetable food group is out too. Supplementation is the only...
-
Wanted to ask what the standard amount of potassium supplementation was for you all daily? I realised I was short a few days ago with a lot of muscle pain, excessive tiredness and strange feelings around my heart and poor water balance. I'm taking a 600mg slow release tablet. What does everyone else take/recommend? Is this a nutrient that we need to keep...

ARCHIVED Right Upper Quadrant Pain
CR5442 replied to newceliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It could also be lack of CCK in the small intestine due to atrophy. This will prevent gallbladder contraction and opening of the sphincter of oddi. It is a functional problem I am having treated with acupuncture at the moment. It will fix when your gut is healed, till then it is a matter of trying to encourage this process without the CCK. I tried herbs... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, that's brilliant news! Hope you really manage to piece this all together. Not sure if the article is peer reviewed but might be worth taking it along with you to your next appt. I am taking choline at the moment 1.8g elemental twice a day and honestly it is a life saver for me. I think I don't get enough in my diet because I react badly to eggs and... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Liver Pain, Impaired Sphincter Of Oddi Function
CR5442 replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks so much for this info. Yes, I suddenly, the other day after having the SoO treated by my acupuncturist realised that this might be the source of all my GB and Liver pain. Here is an article I just found... Open Original Shared Link Looks like we all might have this deficiency to some degree or other. I think it is easier if you don't have other...
