  1. We decided to test our whole family of seven (my husband me and kids) for the antibodies and the genetic markers. Our son was diagnosed celiac based on those two plus a very positive response to the diet. His endo just showed early signs- severe inflammation. We knew the whole house would be gluten-free so we wanted to test first and based on the outcome...
  2. My son reacts to sugary things like Sprite or a Popsicle as if it were gluten. Maybe there's another trigger as well making him feel badly.
  3. Yes my son had a positive blood test and only inflamed intestine but had so much improvement going gluten-free we'd never go back.
  4. I did not know Enterolab tests were questionable. I've got friends who tested positive through that. Wow! Where can I read more about that?
  5. Yes my friend is tested negative for celiac so doc called it IBS which basically meant she's had to do so much reading and experimenting about diet to find what was bothering her. Recently a low carb diet brought tons of improvement to her GI symptoms and pains. It's similar to a paleo diet.
  6. Clarification-how much this doc knows ABOUT CELIAC. He is very knowledgable and the most well known GI here. He's also very personable. He did want to do endo months ago and I was too scared of procedure and of being out asleep and of having the information and even of it being on my medical record. Ugh. People do say to try and avoid an official diagnosis...
  7. Yes we went through with it because I developed gastritis probably stress related and so I grew curious just how things were looking. Then the GI said the info would be informative as to how my diet is going. (there are a few things I eat where I have not called the company but they are labeled gluten-free). And I eat the gluten-free Bobs Redmill oats on...
  8. This is kind of surreal but so far I've been positive every test for antibodies and genetics and now 6 months into the strict gluten-free diet I finally agreed to go through endo and biopsy because I have a hard time believing I'm celiac. And im curious what things look like inside me. I had no symptoms I just got tested because my son was positive in his...
  9. Yes my family doc was calling the GI repetitively to get us in ASAP on the basis of painful symptoms.
  10. My endo showed visible scalloping to duodenum. Still waiting on my biopsy results. You may be celiac and something else like IBS. My GI says constipation is the OThER classic symptom of celiac.
  11. I can share our story. My son had the same symptoms for 3-4 yrs before I asked my doc to refer me to a GI. We proceeded with testing (I had never heard of celiac). His antibodies were positive-2 of them - and his genetics were high risk. His endo showed severe inflammation and the biopsy which was taken at the same time showed no Villous atrophy (yet). The...
  12. Can't go wrong with a rice cooker for rice and a can of beans. I saut
  13. Yeah we had 2 families go gluten free for us in support of us and have since realized that they just feel better all around on a gluten-free diet and even began to be able to digest lactose better. So, they are for the most part gluten-free still and it's been almost 12 months! But I've wondered the same question of what are the long term effects of my non...
  14. I'm planning for camp in June. I have the menu so I can take the same in gluten-free. I'll be there too so I can prep the meals. Any ideas?
  15. I'm having the same pains. I see my doc tomorrow. It's been a week now. It hurts to laugh and yawn and roll over. I was under some stress though so am wondering if it's an ulcer.
  16. I started out with lots of raw fruits n veggies. Trying to find the gluten-free stuff in the store would literally leave me weeping. Take it one day at a time! I order lots on amazon. Com. Cereal pastas macaroni n cheese soups baking mixes. You must try the Pamela's bread mix it's the best taste and price! All my kids absolutely love it!
  17. We're gluten-free at home for simplicity and to teach everyone the diet since celiac is genetic anyway. It would be a shame not to teach my kids the rigidity of the diet since they or their kids could develop it. Out of the house only 2 out of 7 consume gluten. We based that decision on genetic testing and symptoms. I tried a mixed kitchen for awhile but...
  18. Have you looked into the candida diet.com ? My mom is doing it and experiencing a lot of relief from constant abdominal pain. She too has a resistant fungal infection. She also has had cat scratch fever (from Mexico) and was sick for months with that some years back.
  19. How did you figure you were still getting gluten?
  20. Interesting. I did have soy as well.
  21. My youngest son who was very symptomatic was diagnosed celiac by bloodwork, genetics, and endoscopy. We tested our family of 7 ( children ages 9 and under) for genetics and for antibodies and discovered half of us were high risk, half of us moderate, and one Very High risk genes. My son and I were both high risk gene and lots of antibodies. The others had...
  22. Ok I'll make my appt. I did have a stressful week and lost some sleep worrying. My stomach was in knots! What good that did me!
  23. Thanks. And by the way I just realized this evening I did accidentally eat gluten! Wow!
  24. I feel the same way-very tired all the time and hair loss everytime I run my fingers through my hair! Im trying out the B vitamins and biotin. I do feel a little more energetic, but now my body hurts. Maybe Im overdoing it.
  25. Im having severe knee pain. This is something I get every once in awhile. It makes me wonder if its caused by accidentally eating gluten. in my opinion I follow the diet quite rigidly. I do not have GI symptoms, so it is hard to guage whether Im following the diet. Im wanting to start a log about what I eat and the possible reactions. How many days would...
