  1. Perhaps you just have a poor sense of smell? Like some people have poor vision, poor hearing or poor taste. The latter especially applies to furniture. I've never been particularly good at telling scents apart. My dogs usually fish out things for me, I just follow their noses.
  2. There's even gluten-free glue for kids.
  3. I noticed I tore a nail in half a while back. Thought it was due to sports but now that I read this, it might be down to something else. It's still attached but it sure looks ugly. Never had it before when I was on a gluten-rich diet, looks quite odd.
  4. Weight-lifting gets your weight up quick. Just be sure to eat plenty after every work-out.
  5. what is a hot link?
  6. Today I noticed that there's soy in the butter I use. I always thought it was a dairy product. No problems whatsoever, though.
  7. I was immensely tired and have suffered depression since childhood. Sometimes after eating something, all I wanted to do was just take a nap. Passing stool was extremely tiring for me, forcing me to eat something afterwards or else be too tired to do much of anything. All that changed when I switched to a gluten-free diet. I gained energy I didn't...
  8. I think the reason the symptoms might feel more severe is because you know the difference between feeling good and bad whereas before you've always felt bad. At least that's what applies to me. Why do you think you'll be glutened while on vacation? You should do some research into gluten-free brands. And don't forget to mention that you need to steer clear...
  9. D? Diarrhoea? None of that. Although it wasn't very firm either. Do hemorrhoids grow overnight? I quickly looked up the symptoms for that, doesn't seem to fit. I did have red bell peppers and concentrated tomato juice on my (gluten-free) Pizza yesterday but it's not something I'm not used to.. Well, maybe my stomach is just upset due to the possible...
  10. I feel a little weird writing about this and I'd rather not go into any details before I know it's O.K to do so but I just went to pass stool for the second time today and I've never experienced such a painful burning sensation before after (and during) passing stool. I think some of my food was contaminated with gluten in the past 48 hours and I've been...
  11. I also used to get very, very tired after eating certain meals. Turned out they were all filled with gluten. Also got tired (and hungry) after passing stool. When I was younger, I would take naps during the afternoon. Can you imagine a 14 year old that requires naps like an 80 year old? Pretty weird when I look back at it now.
  12. Could you elaborate on that?
  13. every day? I saw Enterolab being recommended before. I am from Europe and given the way our health-insurance works I'll be doing most of my testing through a hospital. If I go through the proper channels that should cover most of the expenses. I'll get back at you once I've discussed all these tests and findings with my GP. First time ever that...
  14. Any people who use that particular bread-mix? Already adding 4 times as much oil as recommended but I know very little of bread-baking and I'd like to spice it up a little further. (The extra oil stops it from growing dry too soon, it would seem.)
  15. I do not have acid reflux but there's a type of licorice that I eat when my stomach bothers me. It's made from Open Original Shared Link. I usually take some after I've had too much dairy. Seems to help.
  16. Hm, that's a bridge I'll cross when I get to it. A long bridge at that. Any idea what kind of gluten-poisoning we're talking about? A cookie per day or entire meals? Still, the main purpose of my visit is to find out if I have suffered any damage under the hood from living with gluten for many a year and if I have any other problems that may have been...
  17. Well, here's what I'd do: If you can't do either, I'd tell them it's medicinal food. They wouldn't be sharing their heart pills either, would they? Not even to 'try it out'. It's pricey, it's specialized and it's there for a reason. People should just respect that if there are alternatives available. If it isn't tagged as 'gluten-free' but it's simply...
  18. Thanks, added those to the list. The genetic testing is about the DQ2 and DQ8 genes, right? I've also seem become contaminated with gluten between now and 48 hours ago. Entirely by accident and I have no idea how (Probably a failure in hygiene) but it did give me a chance to write down all the symptoms I often had before I went gluten-free but never fully...
  19. No one has any hints? Hm, well O.K. I'll just keep the list as it is, then. I guess that the GP will first want to see some bloodwork before he orders any additional tests judging from what I've read here.
  20. Before I discovered a gluten-free diet I would feel tired every day. Passing stool was difficult and very tiring. I noticed the first gluten-free meal immediately because I wasn't tired after eating it. I always used to want to sleep after having eaten something. Actually, I somehow got contaminated today, yesterday or the day before and a painful toilet...
  21. For me switching to a gluten-free diet almost meant an instanteneous change but judging from what I have read on this forum, it takes many months for some before they start seeing any improvement. And a few of them, including me, have problems with dairy products although for me that didn't happen until after I went on a gluten-free diet. I think you should...
  22. I think I got contaminated yesterday. Not sure how. The person I leave with leaves crumbs everywhere and they get into everything. Sometimes I place something on the counter and then later on realize it hasn't been properly cleaned. I think having a gluten-free home will cure you of any doubts and let you diagnose real problems. Oh, if you have a dog...
  23. Seems to be a North-American only product, can't get that here. If you are certain they are gluten free, perhaps you were contaminated by a different source or perhaps it's a dairy problem if you eat your cornflakes with milk? Or maybe you've caught a stomach bug? So, did you recently start eating these?
  24. So, based upon what I've read and has been recommended to me I decided to make an appointment with my GP to have a talk with him about further testing. I'm seeing him in one week time. I'm being given a whopping 10 minutes to tell my story so I'd like to get everything I want to speak sorted on a list out before I head in to make the best use of the time...
  25. I eat these: Open Original Shared Link Guaranteed gluten-free. Don't know if they're available in the USA, though.
