    I think the thing that scares me the most is that many, many products contain gluten which is hidden under different terms.     Spina Bifida is a congenital defect which is caused by lack of Folic Acid prior to and during pregnancy. With the significant absorption difficulties celiac disease imposes, it makes sense that celiacs are at more risk of producing offspring with the defect.
