  1. Not all dishes, just the colander, and things like that where food gets stuck in places. Telfon pots with gashes in them fall in that category, as does plastic containers that are stained and/or have gashes in them. A stoneware plate is fine. Anything that you can effectively wash is fine. Some people say wooden spoons/etc have to go because wood is porous...
  2. Losing ground... not sure why. There was one possible point which his food might have gotten contaminated, so we are holding on that. If he starts turning around again and getting better then we can mark it off to that, but otherwise... have to wonder if we are on the right path or not now.
  3. Thanks all! Glad to see I am right and the rest of the neighborhood is wrong
  4. If she wants a dx, she should do it right now. The more damage done, the easier the dx. The more healing, the harder it gets. Call it "Gluten Intolerance" if you want, that is what many docs call this condition if you get neg test, but have all the symptoms and are made better by the diet.
  5. Coolness.
  6. So, CC risk aside, to be clear their fries and burgers (sans bun) are safe with regard to gluten?
  7. Funny thing about that is most people think his head is big for his body when they meet him. He is playful still, just in shorter burst then when we first got him 10 years back.
  8. How long have you been gluten-free for? You will need to go back on gluten for any test to be valid, and I usually hear at least 8 weeks on a normal gluten diet before testing. So the big question you need to answer is do you want the label bad enough to face all that again? Keep in mind, you could go through all of that and still get a false negative...
  9. We will be taking our son in October, do the venders in the park have any gluten-free stuff? We wont be staying at Disney as we have free lodging else where.
  10. How were you diagnosed with the parasite? What kind of tests are done for that? I know little to nothing about this area of medicine so would love to hear more.
  11. No one really knows, it is different for everyone, but the typical advice is a "normal" amount. So what ever amount you would expect a non-celiac kid to eat in that period of time.
  12. There seems to be (I have not counted) a large number of people who have neg blood work, neg biopsy, and "No" dx from a doctor who still get better on a gluten-free diet, and get symptoms whenever they eat gluten. Keeping that in mind, if nothing else has worked for your son, a gluten-free diet is worth a shot, IMO. So is food allergy testing.
  13. So he had a it of a relapse last night, got worse as night went on. Not sure why/how... but so far today he is good. Hrm.
  14. LOL. I studied and studied the box and missed that. But yes.. in tiny print under the manufactures address. Doh!
  15. Its coming back slowly. Reading the posts here is bringing back a lot of memories of a life I though we left behind. Ah well, as I tell people if you are going to have a life long disorder, Celiac is not as bad as most, like Parkinson, or leukemia. At least a basically normal life is possible with out any drugs. Who liked bread anyways!
  16. The advice above is all great... but one caution. If you WANT an official dx from a doctor you need to do it before you go gluten-free as that will impact the tests. This is only if you want to get official testing from a doctor. If you are happy, as many are with just trying the diet to see if you get better, then go for it. There is no harm in the diet...
  17. Does anyone know if the Betty Crocker brand gummies are safe? Or I guess they are called "Fruit Flavored Snacks" With Scooby-do on the front. The ingredients look okay but Tim is complaining of a tummy ache about 3 hours after eating them. Rest of the food was fairly well known stuff (Enjoy life stuff, raisins, peperoni, etc). Could be unrelated to celiac...
  18. Well you need to decide if you care about the actual official dx or not. If you do, you have to follow his advice. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on the internet, but faced with the same decision with my son, we decided not to go for the biopsy. Others in this thread have opt'd to do it. It really comes down to what you feel you need for your family...
  19. Yes, sounds like they did a OGT which is why they do not recommend that test anymore. That is dangerous. Hypos will react in the 2nd or 4th hour typically. She might hit the second hour and end the test, as per the instructions, or have to get to four.
  20. True, could be low iron too or poor oxygen in your blood. I guess I zeroed in on blood sugar too fast.
  21. His name is "Little Joe" because the rescue org that took him in was full, but his big eyes and friendly demeanor won them over and they called him "Little Joe" because he wrangled his way in.
  22. I did not state "go by a home test" I stated discuss the result with a doctor. It is not inducing hypogyclemia, it is seeing if it happens under what should be normal conditions for a normal person. It is putting an objective test around something she is already experiencing. The only difference is by being deliberate she can get objective well understood...
  23. The worst is the story how he got in the shelter to begin with... his owners moved away one night and left him in a cage in the back yard!   Neighbors fed him scraps for a couple weeks until they could find a rescue org to take him in.
  24. Well as of today he had a little stomach ache late in the day (used to wake up with them and have them all day), no other symptoms. So far so good I guess... We have almost 100% of gluten exorcised from the house. All that is left is dog food and some cereal that I am eating up. Tossed most of old pots, and etc. What about plastic serving spoons, ladles...
