  1. I thought that Campbell's chicken and rice soup was gluten-free. Has anyone had either good or bad experiences with it?
  2. Mr. Ritts in South Philadelphia sells and will ship gluten-free Challah. (215-627-3034)
  3. Have you also seen the Delphi list? (Open Original Shared Link) Besides the book vs. palm issue, the CSA Product Guide seems to me to be very conservative. There are quite a few items that are listed in the Delphi list or the Clan Thompson list which are not listed in the CSA list. I believe the CSA organization is very strict about cross-contamination...
  4. There's a gluten-free bakery in South Philadelphia called Mr. Ritts (www.mrritts.com 215-627-3034) that sells a gluten-free flour mix. I use it to make Toll House cookies. I just follow the recipe on the bag of chocolate chips. You substitie cup for cup. I think they come out as good as if they were made with regular flour and my kids really like them.
  5. I understand the issue of cross-contamination. It's very frustrating trying to get compaines to assert that there is no gluten in their product. They always want to put that little disclaimer in about their suppliers, cross contamination, etc. But I'd still like to know whether there are any medications that we know are made with gluten. I still can't...
  6. celiac3270, Do you know which kind contains wheat? I couldn't find it listed in the ingredients. Thanks.
  7. This pharmacy advertises that it can custom compound medications and has been listed as a resource for gluten-free compounding. I've never used them, but here's the website. Good luck. Open Original Shared Link
  8. My daughter's family doctor prescribed her medicine yesterday, and when I asked him if I had to check whether it was gluten-free or whether he had already checked, he said that he had never heard of any medicines containing gluten. Does anybody know of some examples I could give him?
  9. Thanks. I didn't see them on the Delphi list, but I did manage to get through to the company. They verified that all formulations were gluten-free.
  10. Has anyone contacted TAP Pharmaceuticals to find out if Prevacid is gluten-free? Any bad experiences?
  11. We haven't found any restaurant with a gluten-free menu, but DiFebo's has offered to cook gluten-free pasta for us if we bring it in. There's also a nice little health food store in Bethany Beach called Wholesome Habits (Route 1, Beach Plaza 302-537-0567) that has a very good selection of gluten-free items.
  12. I finally got around to calling Mars. They confirmed for me that ALL sizes of Snickers are made from the same ingredients and ALL sizes ALL gluten-free. The Pop'ables are a completely different product and are NOT gluten-free. Of course, they are not made on a dedicated line, but they thouroughly clean the lines, etc., etc.
  13. One suggestion... when my daughters were first diagnosed we tried EVERY kind of gluten free food all at once and they HATED most of it. But we found that if we tried different kinds of gluten-free food more slowly, their tastes changed as they got used to not eating wheat and they kept finding new foods that they liked. It took a year before we were really...
  14. My kids drink Coke and have twice tested negatively for gluten exposure. (They don't get any other symptoms.) Hope this helps.
  15. My daughter receives the low-gluten host about once a month. The rest of the time, she receives only the wine. She has tested negatively (no exposure to gluten)twice. (By the way, when her tests indicate that she was NOT exposed to gluten, do we call that testing positively or negatively? It's was certainly good news for us!!)
  16. Where did you check? This is different information than I got from the manufacturer?!
  17. It sounds like there are a number of folks that are NOT having problems with Post Cocoa Pebbles and Fruity Pebbles. Is this true? Are other folks having problems or could this be an isolated incident? This is important to me, because I just started buying them for my kids!
  18. I don't know whether this will make you feel better or not, but neither my wife or I were fond of cooking, we weren't particularly good at it, and since we both worked we spent a lot of time in restaurants. Once both of our daughters were diagnosed, that all quickly changed. We really don't enjoy restaurants anymore... it's just too much work and too scary...
  19. Thanks, Kaiti. My daughters only symptoms are silent (anemia, osteopenia), so I'm always nervous even after I do the research. (Find the product on a gluten-free list, read the label, call the manufacturer, etc.) I won't know if I make a mistake until we get blood test. I really feel better about buying a product if I can get hear more real world experiences...
  20. Have folks had either good or bad experiences with Oscar Mayer products?
  21. My daughter brought home a pack of Stax yesterday, because she noticed it was labeled gluten-free. I hope this trend is increasing!
  22. Well, I'm off to the store to buy ALL of the following brands for the great pancake syrup taste-off Saturday morning: Aunt Jemima's Golden Griddle Hungry Jack Eggo's I called each of these companies and they all confirm that they are gluten-free. If anyone has had any bad experiences with any of these brands, I'd appreciate a post. Thanks!
  23. In case folks use Mrs. Buttersworth.... I called Pinnacle again this morning and confirmed with them that BOTH Log Cabin Original and Mrs. Buttersworth contain malt flavoring from barley listed as natural flavorings and are NOT gluten-free. The only syrup that they make that is gluten-free is the Log Cabin Country Kitchen.
  24. There was nothing on the label about malt or malt flavoring, so I called the company. Pinnacle Foods used to be Aurora Foods. They make Log Cabin & Mrs. Buttersworth as well as Duncan Hines (my kids frosting!) Cutomer service said that Log Cabin is NOT gluten-free (except for the Log Cabin Country Kitchen which IS gluten-free) and that the malt flavoring...
  25. May 17, 2005 I received this email from Pinnacle foods. I'm very confused, however, because when I look at the ingredients, I don't see where the barley could be hidden... which makes me wonder whether I'm missing hidden barley in other products. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Mr...
