  1. Thank you all for your posts.
  2. Sure thing!
  3. I called Hormel yesterday to ask if they use iodized salt in their Cure 81 Classic Dinner Ham. 1-800-523-4635 The lady read from their company statement that they do not use iodized salt in ANY of the Hormel products. So those of you avoiding iodine can feel good about Hormel.
  4. I hope it clears up fast! If not, you can always use it for a conversation starter to teach people about celiac disease. I bet you'll find more than a few who either are or have relatives who are celiac or even gluten intolerant. Tally Ho for Tuesday!
  5. Yes. I think you'll be okay if you only took one dose. Your test is Thursday or is it Friday? Exactly, celiac isn't something that just pops up overnight. It IS something your body's been dealing with for forever. Stupid jerk off doc! And doc, then one day everything comes to a big head b/c you docs don't know & keep resisting the idea that anyone...
  6. CRAP! The prednisone will screw up your tests!!!!!! Yes, even the endoscopy!!!!!! Stop it!!!!! You've got a gluten rash & I'm saying it's dh.
  7. Thank you everyone! I didn't want to miss anything & have to go back. I hate the going back.
  8. And that's exactly why there are so many self dx'd celiacs here. Besides the fact that sooooo many wer misdiagnosed for sooooo long sooooo many times. This is truly one of those times when you could turn the old phrase & say, "Patient, heal thyself". And we do. Now you need to start learning how to keep from getting cc'd like you did & learn...

    ARCHIVED Celiac And Time

I'll go with eatmeat & say I know from personal experience that you can go 55 , well, no, my hubs is 64, years without knowing you are celiac. And we eat whole foods too. Our food bills went down also.
  10. Don't eat gluten. Don't cheat. Sorry hon, but you're doing damage to your intestines & need to be very strict about the gluten-free diet. The rash might be dh or it might be something else as celiacs have a tendency to skin problems. Stinging, itching & burning are what dh does. It may be a pre dh rash. You can get rid of it by being vigilant...
  11. I agree that this is quite possibly THE best place for info., support & help. The people on this board have been through it all. AND everyone is quite helpful & friendly. I'm glad to know you're being very diligent. And I'll add my welcome also. Happy to have you aboard! Hey, we even allow venting here.
  12. YES! You are doing damage. Your reaction is no indicator of the damage being done. You need to be vigilant --- very vigilant! This is serious business & every time you get glutened or cc'd then you risk your health -- now & in the future. I would NEVER say to myself that it's okay for me to get cc'd to the point of 20ppm --- NEVER! That is for...
  13. This will be my first doc appt. since self diagnosis. I'm seeing a competent NP. My appt. is on Wednesday & I'm trying to get my list together of all the tests I need to have run. I know I need thyroid & vit. levels & such but I know you guys have mentioned specific tests in those regards such as not just TSH but X & X & X, & not just...
  14. I was wondering the same thing but b/c both my hubs & myself have dh. THAT is what concerns me about the shingles vaccine.
  15. YVW! If it's just presenting for you then it makes sense that it isn't "bad" ----- YET. I say yet b/c it's likely to get worse each time you get glutened. You see, it presented now & that means you now have the IgA in your skin & this glutening put more & each subsequent glutening will put a little more in. Now, with dh it can take 2 years for...
  16. Did you look at the photos in the dh photo bank? Yes, this could be dh. If you only get them when you've been glutened then it's a no brainer. They itch like crazy especially at night often waking you from sleep & keeping you awake. Yes, they can be on your belly button & legs. They can be anywhere on your body --- anywhere! Yes, they often become...
  17. Thanks RiceGuy! Matter of fact I got a delivery today of a bunch of flours & such i had ordered along with white chia seed. YAY! So I will be able to do lots of experimenting. Does chia seed make stuff crunchy? Or when cooked does it soften?
  18. Well, I made a trial run of mango preserves today using no pectin as per purple's suggestion. I was only making a small batch in case it flopped on me so I didn't get into exact measurements; I just winged it. I got 2 humongous mangos for the test run. Mangos, sugar & lemon juice, peel, cut & cook. Yielded about 20 oz. It turned out GREAT!
  19. Hmmm.... sounds like you need to find a new derm. Just think ---- nothing would have ever been invented if no one ever "thought outside the box".
  20. Hmmmm..... that's rather telling re: the rash. Yeast --- considering all the antibiotics you've been on for so long yeast is not surprising.
  21. Laura, Not knowing your history I can only guess at things. But you stated that you thought the dh was over. So you've had dh before? Or do you mean that you thought the dh was over from last time you boarded the dog? Yes, you can get glutened from a dog that eats gluten food. DON'T let that dog "kiss" your mouth or face. Did you wash your hands after...
  22. Oh, okay. I didn't know you hadn't had your endoscopy yet --- I forget these things sometimes. So, 6 more days. Well, you know, after you're done with the clindamycin then you might try going low iodine & see what happens. If it's dh then many have had results with going low iodine. I say many b/c there are a couple ppl on here who say iodine doesn...
  23. Karen ----
  24. Well, like you say -- at least you got started. Good. Keep us posted.
