ARCHIVED Iga, Test Reults And Junk
squirmingitch replied to KMMO320's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just a reminder to remain eating gluten until the test is done or you risk scotching it. And IMHO it might not be a bad idea to keep the appt. @ the celiac center if you really want a firm dx. They may decide to retest you & even do another endoscopy so keep eating gluten. -
ARCHIVED Soy Intolerance, Questions
squirmingitch replied to sharilee's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have an intolerance to soy & avoid it completely. The only exception was my mayo & I used it very sparingly until I found Hellman's aka Best Foods has a canola oil mayo with no soy. YAY! Can't help you with the marinade question --- I never liked soy based marinade. I do like to marinate chicken (cut up) in wine vinegar, olive oil, & spices... -
I like the way you termed that rosetapper --- gluten lights the fire & iodine lets it continuously burn. How true. For low iodine diet: Open Original Shared Link and sometimes we also have to remove salicylates but we'll cross that bridge if & when we come to it.

squirmingitch replied to KMMO320's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So the gene tests say what you are NOT but fail to say what genes you DO have. Right? And I'm copying & pasting here from another thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/93450-please-help-me-interpret-my-4-yr-olds-celiac-panel-results/page__pid__802152#entry802152 This information is straight out of the book "Living Gluten-Free for Dummies... -
ARCHIVED Iga, Test Reults And Junk
squirmingitch replied to KMMO320's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wait a minute. The op said in the dh forum that she had the rash with blisters just like the photos she saw of mine. I think she's celiac. -
I do have dh & dh IS a diagnosis of celiac. And like bartful says; if she's 95% gluten-free that won't get it. She needs to be 100% gluten-free forever! And even though the rash has improved for now that doesn't mean it will stay improved. DH can come & go --- eating gluten or not eating gluten but the longer she waits to go gluten-free 100% the more...

And Sunny, take culturelle or some kind of gluten-free probiotics. I wasn't where you or IH were & I still know it when I've forgotten to take my culturelle. Hits me between breakfast & lunch & then I say Oops! Forgot my culturelle. And in the last year, year & 1/2 before I figured it all out I had that nausea, indigestion thing going on... -
ARCHIVED I Am Sick. Undiagnosed. Confused. Concerned.
squirmingitch replied to asickdaddy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the board sickdaddy! And perhaps you can print out some excerpts from this thread as well as other threads you read & let your family read them; perhaps it will help them to understand & take this seriously. -
ARCHIVED Hearing Loss - Plugged Ears
squirmingitch replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It may not be food related at all either. My hubs gets literally "plugs" of wax that the nurse or doc has to pluck out with a tool like tweezers. The plug actually makes a loud sound when it hits the metal catch pan. He never gets anything out of his ears when he cleans them; it's like his wax is so hard it never runs. Sorry to be so detailed but..... When... -

ARCHIVED Hot Enough For You?
squirmingitch replied to Darn210's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We were slated to be 95 today but we topped out at 89.3 around 4 pm with 45% humidity & a nice breeze. It was quite comfortable under the shade of old Live Oak trees. Tomorrow were supposed to be 99. I hope not. -

I never took photos of it at it's worst before I went gluten-free except those few on my neck. I could not stand to look at myself. I certainly couldn't see why I would want photos of the horror hanging around. Now I wish I had. Might be good proof to a derm one day. Hindsight 20/20. I certainly hope your never comes back again! NEVER!

ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance?

Oh yeah. Same old story. And if one is skinny you have an eating disorder not celiac. And if one is overweight you have an eating disorder not celiac. -
ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance?
squirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Aw what do they know? A billion times docs have said that to ppl here. You're lucky the doc didn't say it's all in your head; you need some anit-depressants. If they can't fix it with a pill or surgery they aren't interested. Actually had a doc tell me & hubs once, "There has to be a carrot at the end of the day." ---- Yeah, works both ways jerk... -
ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance?
squirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I knew IH had all that burning stuff --- YUK! That's why I asked her to talk to you. Celiac almost killed her but she's healing & feeling a whole lot better. I've read many times ppl on here saying they get that throat thing too. We're here for you. You can ask questions, moan, groan, whine & vent or anything in between! We get it. -
ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance?
squirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've heard a number of ppl on this board who got too sick to work. And the antacid stuff --- sort of a hard call to make --- lots of celiacs actually have TOO LITTLE acid which is the opposite of acid indigestion but gives the same type effect. Let me see if I can get a couple of the more experienced ppl on here to help you with that. -

ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance?
squirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yup. Normal. We tell ppl to eat only whole foods for at least the first 3 months. Several reasons. 1) give the gut time to heal 2) gives you time to learn what foods have gluten & learn how to shop w/o being overwhelmed all at once 3) keeps you from getting glutened right off the bat. Most celiacs can't tolerate dairy for a while. Many get it back later... -
ARCHIVED Just Getting Started - Need Relief!
squirmingitch replied to Arkansan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The time line varies from individual to individual. Sorry, just can't put a # of days on it. But all in all I'm going to say you should begin to get some relief soon. But there will likely be ups & downs. Good days & bad days. I have dh & not really the GI issues so I really can't give you any advice on what to take for the stomach rumbling... -
