  1. If you can, that would be great!
  2. It could also be part of the gluten withdrawal process.
  3. beachbirdie remembers correctly. Ppl with dh tend to have less damage to the intestines & therefore harder to diagnose by endoscopy. Also ppl with dh tend to turn up neg. on the celiac blood panel more than celiacs w/o dh. And I'm going to make a note here just for future readers that even for a biopsy of the dh lesions you have to be actively consuming...
  4. And then I wonder if the Endo read the celiac panel results & concluded they are positive but the GI didn't deem them positive. I just hate it when docs don't give you the whole story!
  5. Well golly! Nothing like failing to tell you something important. And what a confusing episode. You're hyperthyroid but they don't know why so they won't treat you for it???????? What the ?????
  6. She's a real doozie isn't she? I wonder where she got her med degree? The mail order university of Tim Buck Too? You might be safer & healthier staying away from her!
  7. Oh gosh, I was just reading a thread I think yesterday where IrishHeart provided a link for some cutting "mats". I could never find the thread again. I'll see if I can get IH to pop in with the info.
  8. We always say you don't need anyone's permission to eat gluten-free. And if eating gluten-free makes you feel better then by all means DO SO! Live happy & long.
  9. I did a Google & found these things. You might wish to be very careful as there are apparently some problems with it shattering in people's hands. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link The second link will give you care instructions. read the comments on the 3 rd link --- the YouTube one.
  10. Just 2 more examples of why there are so many self diagnosed celiacs on this board.
  11. For 3 weeks you have been gluten-free & you re-did the blood work for celiac. I hate to say it but there's every chance it will be neg also b/c you were gluten-free for 3 weeks.
  12. I'm very sorry to tell you this but in the first place the false neg. rate on the dh biopsies is 37%. Add to that the fact that you are gluten-free & have been since Nov. Add to that the fact that you better have a derm who has LOTS of experience with taking dh biopsies or they will do it wrong IF you can convince them to do it at all --- they will tell...
  13. Carolyn, please read this & especially the portion under "Screening". As follows: Screening Although celiac disease is fairly common, is underdiagnosed, and can lead to serious complications, mass screening is not yet recommended. Screening with EMA and tTG may be warranted in patients with high risk factors, notably first-degree relatives of patients...
  14. Excellent article! Thanks for posting the link.
  15. There could be something to this. If you want to do a really good test of the gluten-free diet then be very strict about it & stay on it for 6 months. But I will warn you that if you try to go back on gluten even now (after 3 weeks gluten-free) for testing; you are likely to have worse symptoms than before. This is the norm for almost all celiacs who...
  16. Just a few more days Roxie. Hang in there.
  17. Gluten brain eh? Sucks don't it? And YVW. No thanks necessary. We're all in this boat together.
  18. A biopsy for celiac. W/O blood for celiac. Biopsies need to be a bare minimum of 8. Celaic is 1 in 133. That isn't all that rare. I wish I had a dime for every celiac misdiagnosed with IBS. I would be rich as a Rockerfeller! It upsets me. I think you may need to look for a new doc Carolyn. Did you know that the new protocol for dxing celiac doesn't...
  19. I was referring to your first post today. you said, " then I had a baby" so I was speaking only on those 4 words. Okay, so you know then about testing the kids. Good.
  20. It's a bit much for you to handle right now but you mentioned a child. You may want to get your child tested by a GOOD ped. She/he needs to keep eating gluten until all testing is finished though. And at the same time it would be so much better if you had a gluten-free household. Maybe you can just give your child a gluten sandwich for lunch & gluten...
  21. It's okay honey. When you feel better you can look for the blood work & share it. I'm still so upset over what has happened to you b/c of idiot doc! I can hardly type. We've seen this stuff all too often too. I can't emphasize enough that you need to do whole foods only for at a bare minimum in your case 4 moths --- more like 6. You were dairy...
  22. I don't even know what to say b/c I'm soooo steaming about the *&*%%$ doctors who told you you could eat gluten!!!!!! Positive blood work for celiac & they say you can eat gluten. Shaking my head in disgust. There are no false positives on the blood work for celiac only false negatives. Dear, STOP eating gluten this very moment. And you were likely...
  23. Don't freak out! You are young & it's highly unlikely that you would have lymphoma okay? And celiac disease is not the end of the world. Eating gluten free is not bad. It's hard in the beginning to learn all the rules but really; you won't miss those gluteny things once you get used to it. I know you're scared right now & I know you're depressed...
  24. I think it's quite likely that you have celiac disease also. At the very least maybe non celiac gluten intolerance. If you want to get tested then DO NOT stop eating gluten until ALL testing is done including an endoscopy with biopsies.
