But with a dx just watch that insurance hike up again. It's a rock & a hard spot situation. Here's the deal --- you were actually dx'd 30 yrs. ago when the dh was dx'd. A dx of dh IS a dx of celiac. Now, there's no reason you can't get your PCP to do your vitamin levels & such for you. There are many threads on here stating what tests should be done...

ARCHIVED Discouraged About My Diet - Need Support Pleasesquirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms And for a whole month I thought I was eating gluten free when I began the diet. Then at the end of Nov. my hubs said, "Hey, this says it has wheat in it". Grrrrrrrrrrrr, one thing in the kitchen cabinet I thought I had checked but obviously hadn't! So, my first month totally down the drain. Start at day one again. Boy, was I ever depressed! We all do it...

ARCHIVED Discouraged About My Diet - Need Support Pleasesquirmingitch replied to Sunny1008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Sunny, this is soooo fast & easy! Peel an apple & cut it up into a microwavable bowl. Add just a touch of water. Sprinkle the top with dark brown sugar & cinnamon & drizzle with safflower oil or oil of your choice. Nuke it for about 1 minute. YUM! And when you can tolerate dairy then you can pour some milk in it. Tastes like baked apples...

Ida, you can certainly show before & after pictures! I would be very interested to see them & i'm sure others would benefit from them too. Interesting about the sulfites. I am low salicylate (sal) for the dh & it appears to me that being low sal has the added benefit of being low sulfite.

I have been allergic to Dawn since it first came on the market. I have for years used Palmolive Soft Touch w/ Aloe for dry skin. When the store is out of that I use regular Palmolive but the Soft Touch is gentler on my skin & still does a terrific job. I have not seen the Palmolive Pure & Clear but when I do I will be buying a bottle of it!

ARCHIVED Testing Questionsquirmingitch replied to flex9198's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Well, I'm no expert on interpreting the very fine points of the tests but others here are very good at spotting discrepancies. Keeping in mind that the 5-6 days gluten-free may have blown the test; it looks to me like it's negative. Now, there is a 20% false neg. rate (maybe a little more than that) anyway. But you could still have problems with gluten. Try...

ARCHIVED Testing Questionsquirmingitch replied to flex9198's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Yes, it could certainly skew the tests. Sorry to tell you. Why don't you post the test results anyway along with the reference ranges. It might give some clue. Or if your total IGA was off then you could be IGA deficient which could mean the rest of the tests will not show correctly. And finally, like nvsmom says you could still be non celiac gluten...

I would mention that so many ppl think that you have to be overweight to be hypothyroid --- this is not true. Thin ppl can be hypothyroid as easily as overweight ppl. Just like we always get mad b/c docs think if you're overweight then you can't possibly be celiac & we know that is a falsehood. My hubs has always been slim & remains so. Nothing about...

ARCHIVED New To gluten-free And This Sitesquirmingitch replied to Sage122's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Sage, don't every be sorry for the rants here. We get it. It's an allowed place for ranting okay? There are tons of folks on this board who would think they had died & gone to heaven...

ARCHIVED So Over The B Vitaminssquirmingitch replied to Chad Sines's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I agree. I tried the Red Bull when it first came out & within minutes of drinking it I got indigestion to die for. Tried it a few more times to be sure it was the Red Bull. It was. I quit. I find that multivitamins all seem to contain hundreds & hundreds of % over what you need. Why do they go so gonzo on them? Seems like overkill to me.

DH can come & go at will. It really likes to torture us & terrorize us. Before I knew what mine was it flared then went away for about 2 months & then flared again & like that. I also read that even after going gluten-free it can present for up to 2 years until all the antibodies get out of your skin. And some sources say it could even take...
