  1. All I have is the Safe and Forbidden List from Celiac.com. It's only been 4 months for us being gluten-free so we're still learning. But I would appreciate that info
  2. Thanks for the replies! The bar I have is one of those jumbo ones...using it for smores and for inside of gluten-free muffins. The only questionable ingredient is the vanilla, but like I said still no help from Hershey's! What about snickers? Yum!
  3. I am trying to find out if Hershey's Original Milk Chocolate Bar is gluten-free? hershey's website is no help, and the phone number is busy every time I call. The only questionable ingredient is the vanilla...does anybody know if it is gluten-free? Or of another way to contact Hershey's to get this information?
  4. My Kailyn is 2 1/2 and it's hard to get them to eat anything at that age! But she basically lives off the following for right now, we're still fairly new to the whole gluten-free diet thing. Oscar Mayer hot dogs and bologna yogurt- she loves Danimals or Yumsters ( the current ones are Dora the Explorer) chesse quesadillas (I use the non-refrigerated...
  5. I have found that at my local more expensive grocery store is accomodating. They often place special orders and have ordered several things for me....next time ask if they can order it... Otherwise I have only found that Tinkayada pasta at WHole Foods by me.
  6. Ok, a little research later...here's the scoop. Malt Diastase is the same thing as Maltase...which is derived from ...BARLEY!! IT is not gluten-free!!
  7. Hey guys, I am fairly new to the whole celiac disease thing, but I posed the same questions to my daughters dr... Yes, go ahead and replace the pans, safer that way. As far at Malt Daltase goes....I checked the forbidden list from celiac.com and it wasn't on there...but I'll look it up again somewhere else...
  8. Hey Guys, I need some help. Does anybody know of a good gluten-free cereal bar...like nutri grain or even like a granola bar? My daughter has been eating a lot of envirokids rice krispie treat bars (gluten-free) but I'd like to try something new....
  9. My kailyn (2 yrs old) has been gluten-free since july after blood tests and biopsy both showed no evidence of celiac disease. She's doing great and dr says he still is confident enough to give her celiac disease diagnosis. Since that time her little sister, now 11 months has weaned onto formula and began getting diahhrea. Switched to soy and she's better...
  10. hey guys, I dont know if you guys like the fruit flavored syrups, but my Kailyn loves the boysenberry one (smuckers, maybe) and it is gluten-free. Also, instead of buying a bottle, look for 100% pure maple syrup in a can, and pour it into your own container. Much cheaper!!!
  11. Thanks for the reply. She's never shown any other problems or allergies (except lactose intolerance) but usally does ok with everything but actual milk. And it doing better with that since we've gone gluten-free. I have switched her to EnvireKids cocoa cereal, which she likes. I was just curious. And you guys were right, of course, after the first few...
  12. For my girls' rashes I used to use Maalox mixed with Baby powder to make a paste. The acid reducer in the maalox (is that gluten free) helps take down the redness and stinging. I haven't used this since we've been gluten free, but surely someone else reading this knows if maalox or even mylanta is gluten-free!
  13. hey, I saw the other day that one of the versions of Gummy Vites are gluten free. I'll check which ones, but they're the ones that are like gummy bears. My daughter loves them.
  14. Hey Guys! It's been a couple of months since I've been on. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who underwent biopsy mid-July for celiac disease. You guys were so helpful and supportive. I just wanted to thank everyone. Kailyn's biopsy showed no evidence of celiac disease, dr is thinking maybe just wheat allergy. But she's doing amazing!!! since we started...
  15. VydorScope I talked to a couple of my mommy friends and here's the best we've got..... MOTRIN! MOTRIN! MOTRIN! (Is that even gluten-free?) If you don't want to drug him... (hahaha)..... When my daughter was a baby and teething we used gluten-free bread. I got the kind that's sweetened with Juice and cut it into strips. Bake it real low, like 200F for...
  16. Why is it that we feel such guilt? Have we ever done something thinking that it would purposely harm our children? It's ridiculous- why do we feel guilty? We do all we can. Hooray to us mom (and dads)! We love our kids and we do our best...."What do you want from me?!?!?!" (My mom actually yelled that at my sister and I one night, when we complained about...
  17. One more thing, her insurance and some of her assistance that we get will help with cost of gluten-free foods, but dr said his experience has been that the ins wont help without the biopsy. If bio is negative, but diet does help, THEN the ins will help.
  18. Thanks, though it didn't help allay my guilt at all. No, and bear with me because I'm still researching all of this, he said that there could be several things causing her symptoms. She does have a history of lactose intolerance, perhaps it is more severe than that- an allergy. Maybe it is celiac disease. Or something else. The point of the biopsy is two...
  19. I honestly have no idea how fast villi grow... haha. I did ask the dr at her appt 3 weeks ago if she could go gluten-free before the biopsy and he said "NOOOO!" I really am too new at this whole celiac disease thing to know that. I just now have gotten a general idea of the disease itself (intolerance, not allergy- though Icant say I honestly know the difference...
  20. OMG! Ya'll are histerical. I'm still scared, but laughing at least. I do have a ? though- do you guys still have the, uh, "Bathroom issues" now that you're gluten-free?
  21. Thanks for all the replies...but actually her bloodwork was negative (a 3- ya'll probably understand that better than I do) The dr. said that's good, but considering her age and that her IgA was only 32 (really low) that he wanted to do the biopsy. He said that a low Iga can skew the TTg ( i think that's right - the celiac blood test) just as age can. I...
  22. You could try asking his tutor to help you help him understand. However, I don't think that at that age (mine is 26 mo) they can really understand much more than "Bread and pasta give me tummy ache" Even if he does understand that doesn't mean it will stop him from consuming those things. Guess it's like damned if you do and if you don't - until he gets a...
  23. My two year old daughter has one week to go till biopsy...and she's miserable. She screams all day, restlesss and fussy at night. I know it's only one week, but it seems like forever when you're watching your child suffer...Anybody find anything that helps in the mean time. I gave her Mylanta the other night and she seemed to sleep better.
  24. If your want your child tested, and his ped won't do it, find someone who will. When my daughter's pediatrician said she didn't show the signs of celiac disease and refused to test her, I took her to gastro dr. He said she showed 5-6 signs of celiac disease and wanted her tested immediately! Trust your gut (can we say that here without being corny?) and do...
  25. Hey, I was just wondering what to expect post biopsy? Recovery? Pain? Diet? Also, anybody in Atlanta GA use Children's Digestive HEalth Care (at CHOA- scottish rite)- we use Dr. Cohen, but I've heard there is another dr that specialized in toddler celiac disease not far from him. I'm thinking about switching dr.s if she's dx.
