Pizza! Okay my Hubs makes me the best pizza in the world. He uses "Smart & Delicious Wraps" for the crust. They are made from Ivory Teff and Millet and certified gluten free. Add pizza sauce. I like ground beef and green olives on mine. My Hubs the Glutenator, even likes these and will make one for him instead of getting a regular pizza. Amazing...
  2. Eucerin in very good. Check the gluten-free statis. I have also used cotton gloves at night with gobs of hand cream. Kicks it in the button. Good luck Colleen
  3. I am also on Federal Assistance, I receive Social Security Disability. I am eternally grateful that I do. Like others with limited funds, I do just fine getting healthy food. Let's see, a meal at McDonalds is about 5 bucks or something (I haven't been there in so long I can't remember). That will get me a loaf of bread that will last for a few weeks...
  4. I have never heard of this type of Doc but I think it's an Excellent idea. I would go if I knew of one in my area. Not only are gluten issues related to depression but just having a disease can cause depression. Wishing you well, Colleen
  5. I noticed that you can now see who is following a topic, or maybe I missed it before. This is a privacy issue for me. Anyone else?

  7. Make sure you've replaced appropriate kitchen items. Check all medications and supplements for gluten. Check pet foods, shampoos, lipsticks. For the roommate situation. If you can't move, make sure you stock up on papertowels. Wipe down surfaces before preparing food. Also wipe down plate, glass and silverware as flour may settle on those items...
  8. I agree. My life is no worse for not eating wheat. In fact, it's better. Why must people put so much emphasis on FOOD. Food is not something that makes life worth living. It's nutrition. Until that attitude changes, they will keep modifying everything to make it more attractive to the most number of people. If I had it my way, eating the gluten free...

  10. Choosing to take the appropriate steps to control a disease IS easy. Would you take a pill everyday to control your blood pressure? Would you avoid donuts if you had a heart attack? Sure you would. Choosing to eat gluten free does not have to cost more if you choose the right foods. These same foods can be enjoyed by your whole family. Why? It is still...
  11. Thanks for your hugs. There are others on this forum who are also fighting cancer, debilitating diseases and fighting for their lives. We are all warriors and not eating gluten is easy when you consider the consequences. At least it is for me. Hugs to you all. Colleen
  12. I am certainly not laughing. And this next part IS meant to scare you. I have cancer. My particular cancer has a link to celiac. In the space of 30 days I have had 2 major surgeries to chop cancer out of my leg. I have had extreme pain, put up with a surgical drain and am just now trying to walk again. I now have a full year of putting a toxin in...

  15. I've been researching the drug Interferon (used as a cancer therapy). The interferon transverses the body in gluten peptides of all sources. This also causes increased permeability of this mucosal lining. Research has shown that the sudden onset of celiac spru can and does happen with some people (undiagnosed celiac?). They also show that a strict diet...
  16. It can happen. It happened to me. I drove thru a hugh dust cloud when a farmer was harvesting barley. I could taste it in my mouth. My reaction was about 5 hours later, quite severe stomach cramping, about 20 - 30 minutes of the severe stuff. Colleen
  17. I have had both depression and anxiety most of my life. Although all of my digestion issues resolved my depression and anxiety has not.

  20. I just got my pathology from the lymph node surgery. All clear margins! No detectable cancer!!!!! I'm so freaking excited. Next steps are full body ct scans and Interferon. Grateful, Colleen
  21. Hi all, Thanks for your thoughts, prayers and wishes. I sure do appreciate anyone who who can makes sense of my ramblings. I've officially moved base camp to my living room chair, yay. Had a stumble in the shower this morning and knocked all the shampoo bottles over but no harm done. My drainage is getting better, from around 10 oz. In a 24 hour...
  22. Thank you, Adalaide and Karen. I will email her with my ?'s. Colleen

  24. I also get a migraine and never connected the two until about 2 months ago and everytime I review what I've had to eat it is from the potential of CC. And yes, I will react to a crumb now. I even reacted very nastily to driving thru a barley field dust cloud during harvesting, I could taste it in my mouth. In a way, I'm kinda thankful for the...
  25. Hi Adalaide, do you know if a hand mixer would work to make this and do you know if she ships her flour? I have not attempted to make bread yet and think I might actually be able to make this. Maybe I will ask Santana for a stand mixer for Christmas. Thanks for putting up the tutorial. It's what I need to bake things cuz I don't have the experience...
