  1. Stephanie, is that true that if you don't have an Epi pen you don't have an allergy? I thought you could have an allergy with a variety of reactions but only needed a pen if you have anaphylactic reactions.
  2. I've been avoiding Alka Seltzer because it isn't gluten-free, which is too bad because it was my go-to medicine before going gluten-free. It would be great if they came out with a product that was gluten-free.
  3. Girl Scout cookies are made in several different bakeries across the country and while they all produce the same core cookies (thin mint, trefoils, samoas, etc) there are other flavors that are unique to certain bakeries so one GS may sell a lemon cookie, for example, but that cookie isn't offered in a different state. So there's a possibility some gluten...
  4. Ate at Mon Ami Gabi today. It doesn't appear to have made me sick and Im pretty sensitive...yay! The food is good and the staff is very knowledgeable about gluten-free. My waiter informed me they are all well trained and have to follow strict procedures, even down to not being allowed to carry a gluten plate and a gluten free plate at the same time - they...
  5. Alwayssomething, do you eat at Maggiano's where you live? I don't trust ours because they have a reputation of cooking the gluten-free pasta in the same water as the regular pasta. I know all locations are different so maybe the vegas location takes better care than my local place. I'm definitely going to try Mon Ami Gabi - it sounds delicious!
  6. Thank you both for your replies! Having first-hand knowledge makes me feel much better than just chancing it, and I can't risk getting sick on a business trip.
  7. I have a trip to Las Vegas coming up next month. Do you have any suggestions for gluten free restaurants? I really have to watch cross contamination so I'm pretty worried about eating out. I can make do with snacks and simple foods if needed but I'd like to eat a restaurant meal if I can find a good place. Thanks!
  8. I saw that yesterday but didn't buy it...but i think i will now. I've been wanting to try her flour so this seems like a good time to do it. Thanks for the tip.
  9. This restaurant is so good! It's entirely gluten free so i can order whatever I want without having to worry. What a treat that is! The food is upscale and would appeal to non-gluten-free people as well. A little pricey, but worth it. I can't wait to go back. It used to be Graces 5...same menu but new owners.
  10. Good to know, thanks for the tip. I usually buy Endangered Species, Dove, or Scharffen Berger...and Reese's :-)
  11. I went there recently as well and was impressed. It was so nice to go out and have fries! I felt so normal again.
  12. Hi. Is this the Redmond Town Center RR,, or the Overlake RR? I had good luck at the Woodinville location.
  13. Yay! That's great news and I'm so happy for you. What a difference this will make in your quality of life.
  14. What symptoms are caused by celiac and not gluten intolerance, besides intestinal damage? I mean that as a valid question...I'm still learning. And please dont call it simple..it pretty much ruined my life for years. There's nothing simple about it and symptoms can be every bit as severe as a celiac suffers from.
  15. Those sound delicious!
  16. Thanks for the info. I'm always looking for new places, especially on the Eastside. Their menu looks good!
  17. I think many of us have intolerances that came on all of a sudden. No real explanation as to why, although my doc suspected it was a major stressful event that triggered mine. Did you do all of these tests over the weekend? Or are some of the things you listed from previous experiences? To do a challenge properly you need to remove all traces of the bad...
  18. I've tried Garlic Jims and it was pretty good, but I hadn't been gluten-free very long and didn't know to ask about their cross contamination procedures. I didn't get sick though, and I'm thinking of trying them again.
  19. Good to know, thanks!
  20. That's great! I'm glad you've found something that makes you feel better.
  21. :-( I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon.
  22. Try www.savorymoment.com. They are a local (Seattle) company that ships all over. I've shopped there many, many times and I like their food. I've never used their delivery service but I know someone who did while they were vacationing at the beach.
  23. I am so sorry! Betty Crocker, not Bisquick. Both yellow boxes...I should have paid more attention.
  24. Yes, the whole box. But to clarify, it is a box of gluten-free bisquick cake mix, not just regular gluten-free bisquick. But I do agree with you...the extra baking powder probably made the difference.
  25. I made it with gluten free bisquick. Maybe your mix was too high quality? (I am not familiar with that brand). Sorry it didn't work for you.
