  1. It *is* frusterating......VERY frusterating. I think you *DO* have a definate diagnosis though. I could understand why your Dr. is wanting to get more tests for insurance reasons but I think as far as wanting to know for *yourself*.....you already have the answer.
  2. Yup....the rash means she has been infected with Lyme and treatment with ANTIBIOTICS should not be delayed. The Dr. should never wait for a positive test result when there is a rash present and the person is in the intial stage of infection.
  3. I go on Tues and Thursdays every week....except this week cuz they are closed.
  4. I'm probably the last person here you would ever want to ask about baking stuff. I dont see why it wouldnt work....if you know how to make pies from scratch you could probably do it! I'm gonna have to stick to my gluten-free *store bought* pumpkin pie. Well actually I might not get one until next year cuz they didnt have anymore at Whole Foods...
  5. Georgie....hope the cake comes out good. The best advice I can give is for her to see a Dr. who specializes in Lyme. The main reason I'm saying this is because they are the ones who truelly understand that 21 days of antibiotics isnt always enough when it comes to Lyme. Fortunately, she caught it early and the Dr. isnt dismissing it. She has...
  6. Hi Ark. Sorry to hear about your son. What Andrea said is correct....Igenix is the best lab to use for Lyme testing. Lyme testing isnt reliable to begin with which is why Lyme is a "clinical" diagnosis. Many times the tests come back false negative.....for various reasons.....but Igenix has the most sensitive test. The best test would be the Western...
  7. Miamia, I tried to find out about the c6 test. It sounds like its specific for Lyme...but not at all sensitive...most people test negative with the c6...but then are positive on other tests including the Western Blots. It *seems* to me that if you do test positive on the c6....then you have Lyme. The urine test is the MOST specific test because...
  8. Yeah...they do give you a print out of everything. I asked her if she works on Saturdays and she does. I'm thinking she probably always does the initial testing as well....so it should be her.
  9. When I first got sick I was getting bloated like that. I hadnt lost any weight yet but I would look VERY pregnant at the end of the day. Somehow the bloating stopped a few months ago.....it definately has to do with what I was eating. I'm thinking alot of the bloating issues comes from Candida or food intolerance....not so much the co-infection....
  10. It SURE was!! I just finished it off today. Yeah....its pretty darned unbelievable that I didnt react to it. Another Xmas miracle is the fact that I didnt Rachel the little pie on the first night. I made it laaaaaaast. If they still have any I'll buy another one. Holidays arent over yet right?? There is still New Years....so there *may* still...
  11. That makes sense. I think for IV antibiotics or anything like that...they really want to see a positive test. I dont think that you're hard to diagnose....you had alot of bands show up in your Western Blots and you had a positive c6 peptide test... apparantly its difficult to test positive with that one. I would bet money if you redid the Western Blots after...
  12. Yeah.....but that is for the Western Blot. Miamia is doing the urine test I believe. There are no antibodies involved in the urine test.
  13. Hmmm...Babesia and Erchilia (sp?) both showed up in my Bioset testing but not in the bloodwork. Thats why I want to retest later....because I'm told the co-infections are difficult to test for....same as Lyme. Also there are 13 strains of Babesia and they only have tests for 2 of the strains.....so the Dr. has to treat for it based on symptoms if its not...
  14. Stress was playing a big role in triggering my symptoms. I was having symptoms prior to January but all he** broke loose in January. My old Dr. told me that alot of people get sick after Xmas...they catch colds or whatever. Just in general more people tend to get sick right after Xmas because of the stress they went through preparing for the holiday....
  15. I never looked at the Bartonella rash so not sure if it looks like DH??? I used to get little blistery rashes but not in a long time....actully not since I've changed my diet and went gluten-free. I think the DH rash is totally seperate from Bartonella rash. When DH is biopsied they check for anti-gliadin antibodies if I'm not mistaken?? Its definately...
  16. Funny about the egg sandwhiches!! For some reason New Years doesnt get to me too much even though January was also the month that I got really sick. I was developing symptoms for a few months prior to that but got hit hard in January. I just go to bed early on New Years and by the time I wake up its all over with and I'm like...."Who cares?" Xmas...
  17. Miamia...yeah...the main problem with this test is that its not sensitive enough. Its only about 50% sensitive so that means there are ALOT of false negatives. You have a positive! I will have to do some research to see how "specific" this test is for Lyme but I'm thinking that since you are positive, this combined with your Igenix Western Blot results...
  18. I was wondering if you guys ever get colds?? I hardly EVER get sick. I could never figure that out.....considering I've got all these problems. I dont have viruses or anything showing up in testing. The Bioset lady said my immune systems kicks butt. Yet....I have all these problems. Someone asked this question on the Lyme board and I thought the response...
  19. It makes sense to me. I didnt realize you already have a diagnosed Celiac in the family. It seems like there would be a strong liklihood that the diet would also help your younger son.
  20. You're the best Andrea!! Yeah....almost all of us are positive on 30. I wonder how specific it truelly is??
  21. Yeah...I remember that. She wanted to do some kind of voo-doo on you. She was saying it was because of "baggage" you were carring around. Did she ever find out you have Lyme??
  22. Heres a couple sites with alot of info. about babesia and the other co-infections. I've always read that the more co-infections you have along with Lyme the worse your symptoms will be. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link symptoms... I've had all the symptoms except not too much abdominal pain or fever. No cough...
  23. Before I forget..... Carla....there is much info about the 41 band on LymeNET. Basically it can be positive for so many things from Lyme to gingivitis. Here is a post I found.... When I was at Igenix I'm not sure who I taked to. Either Nick Harris or Stephen Harris....I dont know which one it was but he was very knowledgeable and I trusted...
  24. Its the same as "die-off" or "healing crisis". Its when you start killing off bugs and they release toxins as they're dying....you actually get a worsening of symptoms during the "die-off". It basically means the treatment is working but you're killing off more than your body can actually handle as far as detoxing....so you kind of get "poisoned" by the toxins...
  25. Carla, I was reading on LymeNET right now. Remember you had asked me about band 41 and if its positive could it mean there's another "active" infection...other than Lyme? They had a thread about this...I guess there have been studies. I think about half of the "healthy" controls have positive band 41. They cant really get any accurate results from...
