  1. I am still mystified by which tests the nhs do. They are fond of the old biopsy though. It isn't nearly as bad as you probably think it will be. Remember to stay on the gluten until testing is done. The NCGI symptoms are often very similar, but without the villi damage and antibodies. Still a fairly new area of research, but very interesting. My GI diagnosed...
  2. Managed a bit of sweet potato and a cheese omelette. Much happier now
  3. Well, dinner in the next 20 minutes and still a bit rough. Got to try and find something quick for the glutenhedz that doesn't make me want to hurl. And something for me, the same.. Tomorrow will be better
  4. Hey shadow, hope you feel better soon. The thing I had struck the start of my period too, and had me in bed 36 hours. Now I don't know if it was bad case of monthly, cc or a bug. I helped in my son's school the day before so my money is on bug. Can't help much, but sending sympathy and virtual starchy foods . Mw
  5. We talked before, I remember you said it would be hard. Only thing I can suggest is brief the nurses and doctor of the problem, and distraction and bribery. Where's Wally might not cut it... Maybe borrow iPod, tablet etc with favorite music or show. The nurses put my son' s arm behind him and around me, so he couldn't see it, which helped. Good luck, it...
  6. I reckon I look 30 lbs lighter having lost half that. 60 real ones to go. Sadly not all of that inflammamation. Gotta.keep at it now I am on the way, and healing too.
  7. A good number of us are non celiac gluten intolerant, or came back negative for celiac. Worth sticking around even if tests are negative, especially if you think a gluten-free diet might help. I had rthe whole symptoms match thing, and am doing way better gluten-free, despite negative tests, including genetic. am in the UK too
  8. My other fave is 'Imagination is more important than knowledge'. And he was a fellow dyslexic, so bonus points there too. And stubborn is good.
  9. Ah, hormones! Tried some rice, so fingers crossed. I was going to reintroduce Friday, so not a very clean day to try, but with 2 little ones due home gotta do something.... I think I will try gluten-free oats in a few weeks, I would love those back. Really pleased for you IH. You folks here never cease to be an inspiration. Your stories of strength...
  10. Sometimes takes a couple of days before I am sick after glutening. I get tired on the first day and anxious, migraine the second day, then sickness and D the next day. It takes about a week to get over it usually.
  11. Ah, interesting. Yesterday I saw a story the UK may lose the penny. With your money man heading our way it is all starting to make sense. On the baby thing, do whatever you want. I am not very good at doing what I am told, and ignore wedding gift lists, choosing what I want to send. I don't expect to see my gifts proudly displayed in their house. ...
  12. Hmmm. Trying not to think about dinner. Been sick today, could be bug, period stuff or the big g. Whichever, I don't have any of my normal go to foods so a bit stuck. Cooked some rice, but don't fancy it yet. Maybe egg later. I think it may be my own fault for raising the bacon cake thing, eugh. Still cheerful, broadly, but a bit less smug
  13. Just for moment there I thought Irish was going to wow us with a bacon cake recipe, thus fulfilling all our cake and protein requirements in one easy step. I may not be eating it at the moment, but I am certainly pro cake.
  14. Do let us know, be interested to know if your private experience is helpful. Good luck
  15. Carbs do me in. I get a brief lift then crash. I don't think it is that unusual. Good protein, fresh veg and good fats, like avocados, coconut and olive oils have helped.
  16. Great being able to walk isn't it? I am now walking a good distance doing the school run. I am tired but thankful every day
  17. Colleen, have a great trip, sounds like an extra special haircut
  18. So – my Whole30 experience (a bit epic, apologies ) I decided that going gluten free had started me on the road to recovery, but there was still a way to go. I had previously done elimination through doing Atkins (when I worked out wheat was a problem. If only I realised then what gluten was...). I knew I needed to clean up, and that I couldn’t han...
  19. I agree with the posts above. It seems to me reading around that lots of celiacs and those with NCGI have ranges of intolerances, maybe cross reactivity, but that the only thing we all share beyond needing to avoid gluten is that we all have to find our own way through and find out what we react to, and in which quantities and combinations. If you have...
  20. Glad it was helpful. There are some good folks here, be sure to come by for any advice. Lots of people use the time testing to get their heads around the new diet. It does all start to sink in after a few weeks. BTW, I picked up a copy of Living Gluten Free for Dummies in the Works this week for £5.99 instead of £15.99. It is pretty good mostly. ...
  21. Hey buddy, we did it! Off on school run, so more details later, but headline is 14lbs, 3 and half inches of my waist and more energy than in years
  22. Probably as well you couldn't make it for lunch and a celebratory end of Whole30 icecream then
  23. Mmm I like 2nd day soups and stews. Not sure about dinner yet, but nearly had chaos at kids teatime. We had their friends round, and I checked if there was ice cream in the freezer, did a big ' who wants ice creeeeeam?' only then to discover that it was in fact a very nice frozen stew in an old tub. Whoops. Yogurt is good, but not quite the same. Luckily...
  24. Last day of whole30 today, and feeling great even though the time of the month is due . Tomorrow, cheese :). Oh, and weigh in...
  25. Might be worth phoning and seeing if you can get in on a cancellation? I saved a couple of weeks that way on the nhs
