Opa3 replied to archaeo in FL's topic in Sports and Fitness
I registered for my 1st 5K(maybe last) WarriorDash obsticle race. Aug.3,2013. I hope I don't keel over either. I'm at stage 5 (of 12) now with 15 minutes jogging(4.5)/15 minutes walking(2.5) in intervals on the treadmill. By stage 12, hope to jog for 30 minutes. Eventually, redo same sequence with running(6.5). I need to check my bone density (ie left hip... -

ARCHIVED Surgical Pathology Report- Pd Mimics celiac disease
Opa3 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The results of biopsies (Dec,2012) follows: The small intestines: No evidence of celiac disease in the 3rd and 4th part. However, at the 1st part(duodenum), showed mildly chronic peptic duodenitis, associated with villous architectural damage. The villi were widened/blunted. Negitive for H.pyloric. So stated, PD mimics celiac disease villous abnormalities... -

Me too, I went "overboard" with chocolate and balsam vineagrette. My GI Doc put me on Omeprazole, 40mg/1daily. It's starting to help. He told me to take 1/day for the REST OF MY LIFE. I read that is not good therapy to take long term. To much PPI's can cause an overgrowth of clostridium difficle and other bad bugs in the stomach and small intestines... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does "gluten" Linger On Surfaces? This Is Overwhelming..
Opa3 replied to ellyy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To answer your title question, gluten is water souble. That is how it is separated from the grain. Therefore, if you wash and rinse well enough, there should be NO gluten remaining on ANY surface. -

ARCHIVED Dental Health And Celiac
Opa3 replied to ChrisRR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I first read about this gluten/dental defects link in the Winter, 2012 edition of Allergic Living, pgs 56-58. I gave a copy to my dentist. He was shocked. He did some reading about this topic and replied 6 months later by thanking me for "enlighten me." The article talks about dental enamel defects, canker sores, atrophic glossitis ( painful tongue...- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Aaaagghhh... Ginger Ale?

Could be the carbonation (lots of bubbles) or the ????? acid. I know pepsi and coke have phosphoric acid in them. Soda is junk. Gave it up years ago. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Read The Book "wheat Belly"?
Opa3 replied to lindalee's topic in Publications & Publicity
Written by William Davis MD, "a renowned cardiologist." The article doesn't mention his speciality. Check Barns & Noble. That 's like reading a book about cardiology written by a GI Doc. Absured! Lee, is that mentioned in the book? -

Laura, I noticed in your personal notes: "acid reflux/GERD (stopped since eating gluten-free"). Im gluten-free and still have issues with AR/GERD. In your diet, do do also avoid foods like citrus, fatty/fried, spicy, mint, vinegar, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, and tomato sauce? -
Might try to increase your protein intake/day. Worked for me. I never feel hungry.
-
I haven't drank pepsi or coke in decades. Perhaps you get ill from the phosphoric acid therein. For me, combing this acid with stomach acid ( HCL) gave me stomach upset. Something else to consider.

Yes, a GFD is the best way. But, YOU are an unbeliever! If you are a competent geneticist, then explain to me "inherited." My father, mother, brother, sister, my 2 children never( to date, anyway) had celiac disease. Each shows no gluten intolerance symptoms either. My family eats everything. I wonder how I got celiac disease.
-
We do also. If one cleans pots/pans, etc very well, I find it hard to imagine finding gluten residue down to 0-20ppm. Not sure how sensitive I really am.

I was dx with acid/GERD in 2007. I've been a Celiac patient since 1983 and never suffered from CP or muscle twitching/ joint pain.I do suffer from stomach pain. Sorry, I thought you should know.

Dear Scouts, Yes, it's true but don't let it disturb you. I've been a Celiac for 30 years (since 1983). I'm still alive! Still strugle with GI issues( IBS, Gerd, Divertilosis?). I struggle with spelling too. I relapsed in 2007(cheated). Again, in 2012(cross contamination suspected) If you could tell the forum more about your situation, that would...

I justed started using GNC's GABA (750mg, 2/day) myself. It helps me to sleep better and during the day I have less nervous stomach symptoms. How do you use your GABA? I'm asking because a competitive product from NOW FOODS (also 750mg) suggested using their product 1/day and "best without protein." The GNC label usage is 1-3/day and no respect to protein...
