  1. Agreed. This is a disappointing response. Sometime, the response is determined by how you ask the question and how experienced the customer service rep is. I still think that we are not getting the correct response from Unilever. I think a mass inquiry is required here. I'm on a mission. I wrote to them last week as well with no response. I wrote...
  2. Have a wonderful day Rachel, with great celebrations!
  3. Megra, We don't treat people here as rudely as you have. Your post is a clear violation of Board Rules. I would strongly suggest that you review them. All questions get answers here, no matter what you think of them. Now back to the original post. Eric_C mentioned that his symptoms were relieved by taking Alegra. Perhaps, you (Eric) may...
  4. Hi Sherry, Great advise aleady. I just wanted to add, that it's so very difficult to learn all there is to know about foods and labeling. Gluten is a tricky sucker and it hides in the most obscure places. Mistakes can be frequent until you have a strong several months behind you. We have all been there. Don't forget to check your shampoo...
  5. Great advise! Get the lab work started.
  6. A colonoscopy is where you would check for issues such as Crohn's, in the large instestines. Any time that you have digestive issues, it would be wise to have this proceedure. An endoscopy is an examination of the small intestines. A biopsy can be taken in the small intestines to check for Celiac Disease. Celiac is different from a gluten intolerance...
  7. This is interesting. Please refresh me, have your been diagnosed as having Celiac, gluten intolerant or gluten allergy? There is still a lot to be studied.
  8. Oats will not hurt your intestines. Oats tainted with cross contamination from wheat may.
  9. Oats in general should not bother Celiacs. But, due to the processing of oats, they often come into contact with contamination with wheat, barley or rye, by farm equipment, processing and shipping. The risk of being glutens by oats in lotion would be slim (in my opinion). I do not buy lotions with oats, just because I want to avoid any additional complications...
  10. If you are just starting the diet, I would certainly recommend that you have gluten free shampoo and conditioner. It just crosses off one type of contaimination. Dove products are gluten free. Toothpaste must be gluten free, most are but always check. And, the beer and boyfriends can be another way to get glutened. You might want to hold off until...
  11. Ooops, almost missed the party. Happy Birthday Ursa and many more.
  12. Hey Janet, Thank you for that information. My brother lives in Shanghai and has invited me/us to visit. I guess I just have to get the nerve up to traveling half way around the world, or I can play the martyr and send my daughters. But, then again, it would be a shame to pass up an opportunity of a lifetime. I will copy your infomation and muster...
  13. Welcome Katie! We have a few members here that live in China. (Weekends tend to be a little slow around here, though). I have the opportunity to visit Shanghai and also would like to know about a China visit.
  14. This is a three year old thread and it's nice to have an update. Thank you Cowgirl. I love 'em!
  15. This is good information for those who would like to pursue gene testing for themselves or their family members, without fear of insurance retaliation.
  16. This is great ice cream link. Enjoy! Open Original Shared Link

  18. Coffee in itself is gluten free, it's just coffee. Flavored coffee may be another issue. What is it that you are putting in the coffee. Perhaps you have a lactose problem.
  19. From: Info-ACDA [mailto:info@americanceliac.org] Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 8:00 PM To: Celiac Listserv Subject: Genetic Information Nondicrimination Act Signed By President Bush Earlier today, President Bush signed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA). This legislation is vital to all individuals who have, or whose family...
  20. Thank you for posting this. But, would you kindly post your source for this information.
  21. Enterolabs cannot diagnose for Celiac. They can, however, test for sensitivities and they do gene testing. I suspect that due to his young age, testing for sensitivities many also be unreliable. If I were in your position, I would put him on the diet and if you see a positive dietary response, you have your answer. At a later age you can have him gene...

    ARCHIVED Fed Up!

I have that gluten has a very large voice and once you eliminate it from your diet, you can hear some of the smaller unhappy voices. Was the butter you used shared to spread on a piece of gluten bread? The cooking process has already been mentioned. Dairy can be hard to deal with when beginning the diet. Steak is very hard to digest. Perhaps a chicken...
  23. Hi Ryan, Long time no see. "before i head in to tell those silly pilots where to go"......I'm married to one of those pilots and I tell him where to go ALL the time!
  24. The latest number that I have heard was 20% likelihood to pass on to children. I don't know whether that is the heredity gene or the disease itself.
