  1. I'm glad that you started this thread deb. OK, I have a question. The gas station in the middle of our small town will raise it's gas prices 10 cents one morning. Then, within fifteen minutes, the other four stations jump their prices up 10 cents. Now, tell me, is this not collusion! Is there no regulation! And, as consumers, are we helpless...
  2. Welcome! Unfortunatly, your positive blood test is a diagnosis for Celiac. As in the blood test, the biopsy can test false negative, but never a false positive. Blood work can rule celiac in, but it can't rule it out. The good news is that you will be able to find some really good substitutes for pasta and bread. Welcome to club!
  3. Rubber gloves - Patent 3872515A silicone rubber glove having a hand portion of thin wall section to cling .... corn starch powder or other acceptable dry lubricants such as wheat starch, ... www.freepatentsonline.com/3872515.html - 33k - Cached - Similar pages .......................Ok, learned something new today.
  4. Although I have never seen evidence, I find it highly unlikey that your work gloves would be powders by wheat products. If so, when you perspire with your gloves on, the wheat flour would turn to glue and you would be stuck for life with a rubber glove on your hand. It most likely would have been powdered by corn starch. You may, in fact, be reacting...
  5. Yes, a biopsy can diagnose for Celiac. But, with over twenty-something feet in the small intestines, it would be virtually impossible to test everywhere. As stated, a sampling for biopsy can be random and frequently miss effected areas. I had six biopsy samples and two were positive - enough for a diagnosis. Your blood test is a diagnosis and a...

    ARCHIVED Grilled Meat

Don't know about most restaurants, but Carabba's has a gluten free menu and you have to oder WITHOUT the grill baste. A good rule of thumb is "when in doubt, don't". When restaurants just don't get it, that's when you order a salad without dressing/croutons and drag out your own dressing out of your purse/pocket.
  7. My thoughts: The Teflon pan could be scratched and contained hidden gluten from a previous glutenous meal. Some seasonings could contain gluten, but I don't recall ever seeing any. You are not healed and any foods can cause a reaction. ...hope you feel better soon. PS. McCormicks seasoning will always list in the ingredients if they contain...
  8. Open Original Shared Link Alfalfa beans that sprouts are legumes and it's not gluten related. (Some here do have issues with legumes, but it is not gluten).
  9. Thanks Laura for posting this. When we get up that way we usually go to Chesapeake or Virginia Beach. I will keep this information handy for the next trip.
  10. EXACTLY!!!!! I alway will not purchase Hershey products.
  11. Johnsonville brats are gluten free with the exception of the beer & brats. Always read the labels. Hillshire Farms are also.

    ARCHIVED Lab Results

Are thes the only tests that he/she ran? This might be interesting to you: Open Original Shared Link
  13. I can't tell you if it's gluten free or not. But, I use perfume every day and I have never had an issue. I do use some common sense and don't spray it near my mouth and hands.
  14. I am sure that many of Hershey's products are, in fact, gluten free. The problem I have with Hershey is that they continue to have a higher level of relationship with their suppliers, rather than the customers who purchase and consume their products. Is it truly THAT difficult the identify ingredients in "natural flavors", which Hershey refuses to do...
  15. I have to agree with this, unless you are super sensitive to distilled grain based products. There is still a lot of old information out there that makes things very confusing. It wasn't too long ago that all vinegar was considered unsafe.
  16. To all the mothers here celebrating Mother's Day, especially those who are raising children with Celiac Disease, may you ALL have a wonderful day! My girls are home with me today. Life is good.
  17. Ocean Spray Craisins are gluten free.
  18. A positive biopsy is a little hard to deny. But...I don't know too much about the gene testing and will leave that to others.
  19. Yes, I can direct you to an internist with Celiac in the Memphis area. PM me and I will give you that information.
  20. Dr. Peter Green's: Celiac Disease: a Hidden Epidemic, is a great source book, as is this site. You won't find better help.
  21. If you post your son's lab results with the ranges, someone here can help you interpret the results. In the mean time, this might be helpful: Open Original Shared Link
  22. Everyone is different. If it were me, I would have to consume gluten products for several days or more to create the damage where I would be symptomatic.
  23. Sneeky indeed!!!! (watch out for those Wendy's fries too, Liz)
  24. Michelle, I am sorry that you lost your father. I know what that feels like. Please always remember that you have a place to come here. Many friendships have been made here, especially to those who have reached out. You are welcome anytime.
