  1. I really don't think that a person can be "dumped" for a preexisting condition.

  3. Open Original Shared Link Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan and New York Congresswoman Nita Lowey have introduced legislation that will require drug manufacturers to label the source of drugs' inactive ingredients. This is huge! To move the bill ahead we need bipartisan cosponsors by May 8! All five of the national celiac organizations are united in support...
  4. I generally don't have a problem day to day. I can always find "something" in a restaurant to eat. Do you work or are you at home?
  5. I'm with you there!!!! And yes, he ordered one test, that was not specific to Celiac. If you are not yet, gluten free, he can run the tests again using the full panel. If not, you can opt to go fully gluten free and see if you symptoms subside. It does take time though, depending on the level of damage. And further testing cannot be accurate with gluten...
  6. Welcome Jig! First of all I would recommend keeping a food journal, to include vitamins, meds, lotions or anything that could pass your mouth. Let me suggest that you give up all dairy products for at least 30 days. Sometimes, when you remove one element, you hear other voices. And many times you can add dairy products into your diet successfully...
  7. You might not ever know. But, it might be a good idea to keep a food journal. It's makes it easier to identify an issue. It's easy to equate all our issues to gluten. And I think your symptom was heartburn. Some foods did not agree with me before I had Celiac symptoms. It could happen with many things to include an unhealed gut.
  8. Possible that someone in your home double dipped? And in the beginning, many foods can bother us, regardless of their gluten free status, until some healing can take place.
  9. You can. Choose a category on the Home Page of the Forum, and click on new post. And welcome!
  10. Silly Doctor! The following are the celiac specific blood tests: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA
  11. Your body was in the starvation mode while you were sick. So, it's over compensating now. It should settle down. And be careful of gluten free processed foods, cause their really high in calories.
  12. Hello and Welcome! If you have a family history of Celiac and a positve response to the diet,it's likely you have Celiac Disease of a Gluten Sensitivity. To be tested, it's recommended that a person consume gluten for three months to get the tested. Do you want to do that? It's a personal choice. Not too much help, am I?
  13. None of those products should be a gluten concern.
  14. You are good to go! I hope you took time to review the Board Rules, on your way to postdom....
  15. My exposure hits me about 24 hour later. Instead of laxatives, I would suggest lots of water. 75% of the water we intake is absorbed in the small intestines. When it's compromised....well, you know the story...drink more water. SO we all need to drink lots of water.
  16. Yes, it's true. But the wheat in the starting ingredient has been soooooo very processed that it's rendered gluten free. In an effort of full disclosure, McD's has been honorable. The fries have been tested to be below the level that Celiacs can safely consume.
  17. When first diagnosed, I tried probiotic and it did not settle with me well. My pro biotics had dairy. I stopped it for a month and found one which did not contain dairy and continued with no issue. I assume you have checked you meds. Even generics change frequently. But, as we all know, not all roads lead to gluten.
  18. WELL THEN, I must try this King Arthur Chocolate cake...when I can find it.
  19. Grits are processed from corn, which would be gluten free. There may be an issue for some people with Celiac who are very sensitive, as there may be some contamination from the crop processing. There are some grits that are Gluten-Free Certified (i.e. tested)
  20. The following are the celiac specific blood tests: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA
  21. Tonight was homemade chick salad with tomato aspic and deviled eggs on a bed of lettuce. It was so suitable for a hot day in May.
  22. Welcome Princess! I was home bound for several months and was scheduled to see a GI, who diagnosed me through endoscopy. It was a relief to find Celiac and not the dreaded "cancer" word. I came home and did a search and found this place. I've settled in.
  23. Glad to know that her levels are down...that's a good thing. McDonald's fries have been independently test, and concluded that they are safe to consume for those who have Celiac Disease. This is the most discussed topic on this Forum. Some eat them, some don't. I eat them from time to time and have had no issue.
  24. Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA The DGP test was added recently to the full panel.
