  1. A member here, CanadianKaren, has deep roots in Lawn, Newfoundland.
  2. It was aired here and it caught my attention, and a quick dismiss. It was very generic. But gluten free was a used word. Dow might be a larger monster to jump on. And I'm not too sure what their input is....yet?
  3. For those that do, it's not a label for cross contamination. It's a disclaimer that there MAY be a possibility for cross contact, through processing. Only the truly super sensitives would be susceptible.
  4. I was a bit of a short sound bite, but yet the gene association with sensitivity was interesting.
  5. In that case, Jess should get a warning.
  6. Progress is good. As slow as it seems, I'm pleased.
  7. About every one with Celiac Disease.
  8. Celiac disease is triggered by consumption of the protein called gluten, which is found in wheat, barley and rye. That quote may be misleading and confusing. The TRIGGER for Celiac Disease are varied. Those diagnosed with Celiac Disease react to gluten.

  13. It's recommended that it would take six to eight weeks, or more of a full gluten diet to test positive. So it would not be unusual for you to consume gluten for several weeks for you to get a reaction. After healing, it might take time to break it all down, to be symptomatic. ....just my thoughts.
  14. A dish washer won't clean your dishes any better than you would. That's okay gluten is a crumb on your plate, it's not a bacteria. Breath deeply, and then take small steps. Walk around this place and you will learn lots.
  15. Copied from the FB page of the GIG: Below is the statement that appears on Dominos website and FB: (in part) "...The NFCA supports Domino's® efforts to provide a Gluten Free Crust to a national audience and has given Domino's® a "Gluten Free Ingredients" rating. The NFCA granted Domino's® this rating because of our verified ingredients, consumer ed...
  16. I feel like the lucky one! I have met: Karen, Lynne, Tom, Laura, Molly and Eric, Metta, Chris, Liz and Janet....a pot full of Gold! And some of my most special peeps. I expect to meet more in the near future. Jess needs to come east during her hiatus.
  17. Slide down the Coast. We're here!
  18. It's no doubt that you were negative on testing after being gluten free for two months. Many people here are self-diagnosed and they feel quite comfortable with that choice.
  19. That's what I do, too. I always have some gluten free bread crumbs in the freezer for quick access. Hunts meatloaf sauce has a pretty good recipe on the label.
  20. I have not heard of one. I think that you may need a doctors note to get past the security at airport, but things may have changed. Check out Triumph Dining Cards @www.triumphdining.com It's not an acccess card but it does contain some information.
  21. Hello and Welcome! It's recommended not to go gluten free until all your testing is finished. Your gastro person should know that.
  22. Hum..Orrin Hatch - a name out of my professional past, whoa. On the subject, I don't know if that will be helpful or not. But change moves slowly in the government. I think work through the lobby organizations are dealing with the issue as best they can, without pop-up law suits. Just my humble opinion.
  23. I don't get it. If you try a food that makes you ill, don't eat it again. Food sensitives can be complicated , and not all roads lead to gluten. I applaud those companies who are willing to work with us. It's not a proven, nor perfected science yet, AND I GET THAT. I'm grateful for the effort.
