  1. adding to Colleen's list make sure DGP iga and DGP igg tests are also run because those are newer and more accurate than the older AGA tests
  2. I use the MegaFood brand, but order them off *mazon to save money Open Original Shared Link
  3. I've gone back and forth on this so many times, and all I can say is I understand your frustration I tell people I have celiac because I do whether diagnosed by biopsy or not I tested a strong positive three times on the DGP IGG, and I had a normal IGA serum level, but all other tests were negative. It's supposed to be 99% accurate, but that...
  4. just sharing an e-mail response I received today "Thank you for your enquiry regarding presence of gluten and related products in Sensodyne and Pronamel range of oral products. Sensodyne and Pronamel range of oral products do not contain gluten as an ingredient either in the raw materials or in the list of ingredients used in Sensodyne formulations...
  5. Welcome You can do this!!! At first it can be a bit overwhelming, but you came to the right place. I think the sooner you talk about this with your husband the better. Will it help to write things down before talking to him? Celiac disease can cause infertility. In fact a great book you may want to check out is Real Life with Celiac Disease...
  6. they have that test listed strangely since it's called "deamidated antigliadin IGA." the older test is the antigliadin antibody test (AGA), but the newer more accurate test is the deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP) test. It appears that the newer DGP test was run, but with the lab name and reference ranges listed it would make things easier here is...
  7. here's a list of blood tests to request: Comprehensive Celiac Panel: DGP iga/igg ttg iga/igg EMA Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate the other testing check out page 12 in this report for testing information: Open Original Shared Link
  8. The dentist said my gums and teeth look healthy, so unless I start getting shooting pains, all is good in the dental department for now until my next cleaning in April with x-rays. They always get me with those xrays
  9. got it not sure if you've been to University of Chicago Celiac Center site yet, but here's something in regards to elevated liver numbers Open Original Shared Link saw on your other posts that that GI is ordering endo with biopsies and colonoscopy, so I'm glad things went well today!
  10. here's a list of tests you should request: DGP iga/igg ttg iga/igg EMA Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate the other testing check out page 12 in this report for testing information: Open Original Shared Link When do you get your procedures done? I hope soon, so you can start feeling better!!
  11. so I've noticed that after eating sometimes my gums feel funny, a little swollen, and I can move my teeth with my tongue. I'm not talking that I can wiggle my tooth like a 7 year old with a loose tooth, but it definitely moves slightly. it sometimes happens after eating dairy, which I've reintroduced, but it happens other times too. It also happens after...
  12. definitely write everything down beforehand, and since it's a GI doctor, put special emphasis on the GI issues. You've got to make this visit the best for you, so don't give the doctor anything right away that could make him/her say, "Oh you really should have gone to see another specialist." Write it all down what made your primary think celiac...
  13. grrr i'm so sorry he made you feel this way Some doctors don't have people skills, and don't realize that the brief time they spend with a patient can have such a negative or positive impact. I would get the additional test, but if he continues to treat you that way, pack your bags and find a new doc. the Maya Angelou quote always comes to mind...
  14. can't post much because of time, but since you're getting the endoscopy tomorrow...please, please have them take at least 6-8 samples from your small intestines. For a lot of people, damage can only be seen through biopsy and not the naked eye. Does anyone have any links to more detailed write-ups about biopsy procedures? If you had lower total iga, it...
  15. based on what you wrote, I think getting tested would be a great idea! does your rash look like dermatitis herpetiformis? what did the doctor say about the elevated liver numbers? check out this link Open Original Shared Link that cracking in the corners of your mouth hurts!! I play French horn and it would make that super painful. Since going gluten...
  16. sorry w8in4dave that that's started happening About this time last year I was having bone pain and joint pain, but since going gluten free, it disappeared for me. I've only had joint pain once since going gluten free and that was from an accidental glutening.
  17. time to do the happy dance!!!!! congrats
  18. I would say you've got it as well whatzie. it's great that your doctor is diagnosing you on biopsy and gene tests alone! If you haven't been eating a lot of gluten then the DGP tests might be worthless. The DGP IgG is the most specific test for celiac with a 99-100% specificity rating, and the DGP IgA is also really good. As much as doctors like to give...
  19. yes, your doctor should be able to order those tests as long as the lab everything gets sent to does them. I'm in the US, and I know for sure Labcorp runs them. There's more info about the accuracy of the tests posted in nvsmom's link above.
  20. welcome! Based on what you wrote above, I think it would be a smart idea to get tested. You can request these blood tests from your primary doctor or GI. You MUST actively be consuming gluten for these tests to have a chance at being accurate. Comprehensive Celiac Panel: DGP iga/igg ttg iga/igg EMA Total iga serum-this is a control test to make...
  21. I think that second test is an IGA serum test, but I'm confused why it has EMA in front of it can anyone help me out on that? whatzie, are you able to get the DGP IgA and IgG versions of the blood test run?
  22. here's a good link: Open Original Shared Link
  23. welcome! Can you post the reference ranges for your blood tests?
  24. glad to hear everything is complete!
