ARCHIVED Grrrr Gene Testing-Results Not What I Expected
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
all your replies definitely made me feel better I was upset when I wrote the first post, there's no denying that, but despite those results it doesn't change that gluten makes me feel terrible. It brings my digestion to a halt and the brain fog makes me feel like I'm having an out of body experience. I'm there physically, but mentally I'm so out of... -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
unfortunately the Enterolab results didn't help and do in fact leave me even more confused. I don't possess DQ2 or DQ8, but instead have the gluten sensitivity genes which aren't medically backed anyway Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0303 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0501 Serologic... -
ARCHIVED Grrrr Gene Testing-Results Not What I Expected
powerofpositivethinking posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
so i already felt in the grey area with testing, please see my signature, and was hoping for some validation with genetic testing. That didn't come through since it showed I don't possess DQ2 or DQ8, but instead have gluten sensitive genes which I know aren't medically backed anyway Here were my results: Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1... -
ugh that is definitely upsetting In regards to him writing abdominal pain on your records, it very well could have been to justify the procedure to the insurance company. I'm pretty sure on all blood work from the GI I go to, he will continue to put the reason for the tests as constipation because that was one of my big complaints. However it was one...

ARCHIVED Can Constipation Make You Toxic?
powerofpositivethinking replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm really glad Miralax seems to be working for your daughter!! When I first starting complaining of C and went to my GP he prescribed that and I took it as directed, but it didn't help me at all. I consider myself queen of laxatives and C relief I definitely think that the buildup could be the cause of acne. Think about it...you've got all that... -

ARCHIVED Public Schools Shrugs Celiac
powerofpositivethinking replied to GFX3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
that does make sense, but I still wish they did have something FWIW, I would caution about first ccing the assistant superintendent unless your child is part of a small district. I would keep it in house first out of respect, but if they drag their feet setting up the meeting then I would resend the e-mail and include him/her on the second go round... -
ARCHIVED Public Schools Shrugs Celiac
powerofpositivethinking replied to GFX3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I completely agree with StephanieL I am a public school teacher and 504s must be followed or serious legal repercussions can take place. Even though it seems like you've done your part obviously the school is oblivious to the needs of your child, so it's time to amp it up by getting a 504 plan in place to show the school you mean business. I think the... -
every so often I like to do searches on DGP IgG because I still have an obsession with it Here's a powerpoint from the 2013 ICDS by Dr. Umberto Volta, Coordinator of the Italian Celiac Association Board, discussing NCGS. on the 5th slide it says, "Deamidated gliadin antibodies (DGP) IgG were consistently negative in NCGS patients except for one case at...

Hi Tally! can you post the reference ranges? check out this link from Chicago Celiac Center: Open Original Shared Link Vit. D and Iron are two of the big ones. a lot of people around here say IBS really stands for "I be stumped". It's not really a diangosis, but a catch all term because doctors don't really know what to diagnose you...

powerofpositivethinking replied to frogrun's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Colleen, I'm glad to hear eating the granola went well will no side effects!! I've been sleeping a lot...10 hours each these past two nights and that never happens. The brain fog was terrible yesterday. I made myself go grocery shopping yesterday, and it felt like an out of body experience. My best interpretation of what brain fog is to me is when... -

ARCHIVED Reaction To Udi Granola
powerofpositivethinking replied to frogrun's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I realize this thread is old, but the only thing different in my day yesterday was some Udis gluten-free Sweet and Crunchy Vanilla Granola I ate right after dinner. I had bad reflux last night and was extremely tired before bed. I woke up this morning still feeling tired after a full eight hours, it was hard to go to the bathroom (I'm a mostly reformed... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis
powerofpositivethinking replied to racheltom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would definitely suggest getting the IGG versions of the tests performed for your daughter. DGP IGG and TTG IGG. Are you able to get a copy of the results from the doctor's office to make sure those two were performed since she is IGA deficient? check out these two links regarding DGP testing: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED Health And Beauty Aid Overhaul...
powerofpositivethinking replied to africanqueen99's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been using the Simple brand products for moisturizers lately. The entire Neutrogena Naturals line is gluten free as well, and I really like their lip balm! I also use EOS balm as well. For hair products, I've been used Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner, and they label them gluten free on the bottle. Those are a little pricey, so I usually wait... -

ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
prickly, thanks for all the info! The next apt I have is in Feb, but that's my ob/gyn and last time I asked she said my GP should really run them. I will try to convince my GP again when I go for my preventative exam, but first I'll make sure to find journal articles for him to validate why he should test me anyway despite my TSH I stood firm at Christmas... -
ARCHIVED Physicians Formula Makeup-December 2013
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
if you have a CVS near you, I ended up getting three PF products originally priced around $37. Since two were marked at 75% off, and then they had a deal that if you bought $15 of PF products you received $10 register rewards back, it's like I really only paid $8! that made me very happy Check out CVS if you have one close by! I've been rotating... -

some physicians formula products are labeled gluten free on the package, but I was curious about particular eye shadows and liners that were not labeled, so here's what I sent: I am inquiring as to whether your Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner specifically the eye shadow palette and liners for blue eyes are gluten free? googles, I'm sorry you're brother is being so inconsiderate You have every right to be upset! I totally agree with mamaw...what goes around comes around. ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
thanks, Arlene and Prickly! Prickly, unfortunately I didn't ever have TPO antibodies run because since my TSH lowered my GP didn't think it was necessary I know TSH doesn't always show the whole picture, and to be honest, I really didn't argue with him on that because for that appointment I wanted to walk out of there with a prescription for 50000 ius... -

fair warning: long post ahead... so I reread through this entire thread and realized two things...I've come so far from this past January with the help of others on this site, and I use way too many smiley faces in my posts latest results are Vitamin D fell two point to 38.4, but two things I know I need to do are take my supplements more... -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
powerofpositivethinking replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
came back to update since I like keeping everything in one place Even though the GI saw wouldn't officially diagnose me with celiac since I had a negative biopsy, I have been getting follow-up blood tests. So far I had two done back in January 2013 where my DGP IgG was a 43/41 with anything over 30 being a strong positive and another in June 2013 where... -

ARCHIVED Am I Accidentally Glutening My Daughter?
powerofpositivethinking replied to PLGW2012's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
follow-up testing should definitely be done I would print off the link cyclinglady gave you and take it to the doctor. If he refuses...find a new doc! since I didn't get a positive biopsy, the GI doctor I saw wouldn't officially diagnose me with celiac even though I had three strong positive DGP IgG tests and symptoms with symptom resolution. However...
