  1. I look for the super bloated belly Would you agree that any man with a beer belly probably has celiac disease or NCGS?
  2. makes me happy to hear this is happening to others. normally I would agree with weight gain, but I've been this weight before and heavier, but my boobs were smaller so I'm totally attributing it to better nutrient absorption I can see the People and Us Weekly covers now
  3. awesome!! thanks for letting me know I was shopping at Target today and didn't realize Target also carried their products which was a nice surprise!
  4. so I stopped wearing perfume for the most part after going gluten-free, but finally decided I wanted to buy some again because of being more social and going out During my searches, I kept coming across Pacificia Perfume products. You can buy them at Whole Foods, a*****.com and their retail site. So far I've bought the Tahitian Gardenia and Persian Rose...
  5. I know this is an older thread, but the other week I was talking with a friend and saying that it's funny because I've finally started to lose weight, but it seemed like my boobs were getting bigger. Sure enough I went to VS to be measured, and my cup size went up one. I am not on any type of hormonal birth control...bad experiences with that earlier, so...
  6. I did not see a dietician, but I would suggest visiting eatright.org to make sure the person you are seeing has a specialization in gluten intolerance/celiac disease and is a registered dietician. 90 minutes is a long time to spend with someone who is clueless At this link click "search by expertise" and then select gluten intolerance: Open Original...
  7. I truly believe that if there were a magic pill that pharmaceutical reps could advertise/push onto doctors for symptom suppression, all GI doctors would know how to properly test for celiac. that's my two cents
  8. welcome! you can ask your general practitioner/family doctor to run the following blood tests: Comprehensive Celiac Panel: DGP iga/igg ttg iga/igg EMA Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate the other testing check out page 12 in this report for testing information: Open Original Shared Link Is...
  9. I would get random bruising so I thought I was anemic, but when I had nutrient testing done, I turned out to be Vitamin K deficient and my iron was just fine. I'd add that to the list of things to be checked since that deficiency can cause bruising. good luck!!
  10. never did I think reading articles on PubMed would become a hobby. In fact, I didn't even know what PubMed was before joining this forum. I gave my GI doctor the World Gastroenterology Report which discussed DGP IgG and its relationship to celiac, and at my last appointment last week it was clear he had been doing his own research. Change is a great thing...
  11. Hi Skelly247! I went into my first GI appointment with a whole list of symptoms and when he asked what my main ones were, bloating and constipation were the winners Those two suck the life out of me. I bet if you were on gluten awhile longer, the DGP IgG would have been even higher especially since you're IgA deficient. Did the doctor give you...
  12. is it possible it could be angular cheilitis? Open Original Shared Link I have not gotten it at all since going gluten-free, but it is painful and I had to put fungal cream on my lips...attractive
  13. awesome news!! hope you enjoyed the pancakes :)
  14. Lisa, I suspect and am hoping that time will also fix it Vitamin D came up when taking those mega doses 50000ius once a week, but dropped a little when I stopped. When I did mega dose supplementation with K my level did climb from <0.13 to .16 I keep reading of the link to bone health with Vit K, so that's my biggest concern. The doctor asked about...
  15. so even though I received my LabCorp results awhile ago via my online portal account, I had my follow-up GI appointment yesterday. I thought it was going to be a, "Your numbers are moving in the right direction, so keep doing what you're doing," kind of appointment. In fact I only made the appointment so that in the future when I wanted tests, they would...
  16. drum roll please...I didn't get glutened from PF Changs!!! I ended up getting the Ginger Chicken with Broccoli which was good. I feel like I did yesterday before going to the restaurant, so I'm taking that as a great sign. No brain fog, no digestive back up and no joint cracking. I still don't plan on going out to eat often because it's expensive, and...
  17. So I updated my profile to this: "In my opinion, the best first dates are places where we are able to talk. Meeting for coffee or a drink, going to a museum or taking a walk are my favorites." I didn't see my previous comment of, "I rarely eat out at restaurants due to allergies, and I know it can be a pain," as a negative statement, but it definitely...
  18. I've read through a lot of the dating threads on the board and here it goes...ok so i've felt better than I have in a long time and finally decided to start dating again. A lot of my friends have signed up for Match.com and have had success, so I also signed up for it recently. I went on a date with a guy this past weekend to a garden, and had a really...
  19. so I'm known by my friends and family as a great deal shopper. it's something I pride myself on why pay full price if you don't have to?? It's the time of year where I have to sink a few hundred into purchasing my yearly contact supply. Here's a little price comparison for my yearly supply: 1800Contacts price= $347.29 EXACT same amount and...
  20. I remember always wanting to have long hair, but it would get right to my shoulders and always look really stringy since it's thin and fine, so I kept it shorter. I lost hair each day, but I didn't think it was too much of it and knew that losing a little bit each day was completely normal. Fast forward to now and my almost 10 months gluten-free, and not...
  21. as I was watching the news the other night a story came on regarding smoking and one of the new diseases it is now in fact thought to cause is rheumatoid arthritis. That got me thinking that if smoking could put so much stress on your body to trigger RA, what's to say it can't help to trigger other autoimmune diseases? That's my thought process Open...
  22. one of the only things I miss when I visit family is eating pizza together, so when I found daiya pizza I was really happy not exactly nutrient dense, but every so often I enjoy it! They're usually $10 a piece around me, and I've found them on sale before for $8, but last night when I went to Whole Foods, they were only $6!! Needless to say I bought...
  23. Gluten Free Philly had this posted on his blog, so here's the link to check out if you bought one of the tainted products: Open Original Shared Link
  24. Thanks, Irish My username at this time last year didn't fit me at all, but I've grown into it I remember thinking that I needed to focus in general more on the positives in life, so that's why I chose it. This last year has really taught me a lot about myself and that rough times will always ebb and flow, but life is a lot easier when you focus on the...
