ARCHIVED Gluten-Free OatsBrandiwine replied to VeggieGal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Oats seem to be a common Celiac allergy/intolerance, is probably why. But you should be able to tell all by yourself how it makes you feel. It gets under my skin how Drs treat us like children. You know your body better than they do.

ARCHIVED NewbieBrandiwine replied to blondie26j's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Don't be too discouraged by going gluten-free, I wouldn't call it a hassle, more of an adjustment and when you start feeling better its way worth it and you won't look back!!! Welcome to the board!

ARCHIVED Celiac Vaccine? Not For MeBrandiwine replied to Opa3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease So proud of everyone who replied to these We are Celiacs we are not a problem to be fixed. Finding that gluten was why I was so sick for so long has saved my life! It's saved my son from a whole list of sickly symptoms. We all want the best for our children, by getting this vaccine would be the same as saying something is wrong with him. I don't want him...

ARCHIVED Laura Lynn Corn Meal?Brandiwine replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications That's what I thought too but even some of the other brands that weren't mixes would have an allergy statement. I tried to call Corporate and got transferred twice and ended with leaving a voice message, we'll see if they ever get back to me :-/

ARCHIVED Laura Lynn Corn Meal?Brandiwine posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Does anyone know if Laura Lynn self-raising corn meal is gluten-free? When I bought it I read several labels. It is not a mix it's just cornmeal. Others all had Allergy statements about wheat. This one has no statement. Ingredients include: Enriched White Corn Meal (Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid) Salt, Leavening (Monocalcium...

ARCHIVED Constant D And DesperateBrandiwine replied to ndw3363's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut I did this when u had really bad damage before I found out what I was doing to myself. Did you get glutened around the time it started? Eat out? Could be another food allergy that you've developed. Elimination diet seems to be the best fit here.

ARCHIVED Applebee'sBrandiwine replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications You can contact corporate, but I'm not sure it will do any good. It is just my opinion, but trying to force the issue with a restaurant that clearly has no interest in providing safe gluten free meals won't help get safe gluten free meals. And no one reads employee handbooks, training at places like these is a joke (in relation to this sort of thing) and...

ARCHIVED Applebee'sBrandiwine replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Thank you for replying. I saw Applebee's on Find Me gluten-free app which came to me highly recommended. I did talk to the server before hand about our needs and they had the chips and fries on the gluten-free menu but when they came out I picked up a chip and knew they were fried not just heated so I asked her if they had a dedicated fryer she said no I...

ARCHIVED Applebee'sBrandiwine posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Good morning. Nick (ex-husband) took the kids and I out to Applebee's last night because they have a gluten-free menu (first time Ive eaten out since GFD) I talked to the manager and had to mark off chips and fries (after we had ordered both and Elijah had eaten one of the chips) because they fry them in the same grease as gluten food even though they have...

ARCHIVED Okay Curious Anyone Feel Sicker In The SummerBrandiwine replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I wouldn't run to the dr just yet, there's a lot of things at play here all which would cause some effects by themselves.I think you should just be careful and take care of yourself if things don't improve in a week or two then make a dr appt. long trips are exgausting, any pain and definitely a broken bone add stress and discomfort, PMS can make you feel...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Dunkin' DonutsBrandiwine replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications You are the only one (outside my family) that I've know to share that allergy!!! Not that I want to beat the negative drum but how bad does that suck?! I didn't develop the allergy until early 20's so enjoyed it growing up. Avoiding it was worth not having a reaction but some times I just wanted a darn cinnamon bun!!!! Not that I could have them now without...

ARCHIVED Confusing Comment From GastroBrandiwine replied to Eclara's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Dud you have any improvement on the GFD? You may still have a gluten intolerance and now gluten-free are still consuming foods that bother you. Dairy is usually at the too of the list, but we all have different issues with different foods. No I don't think you "changed how your digestive system works" whatever that means! How do these people get through...

ARCHIVED Newbie Going It Alone - Would Love Some AdviceBrandiwine replied to Hd7747474's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It does sound like symptoms of Celiac, you may want to try getting tested before you stay on the GFD just to make life easier. Once you go gluten-free and feel better getting glutened is horrible and most of us feel like we can't consume gluten long enough for a test or we may literally die!! Results are different for everyone, in the first week my D and...

ARCHIVED Dealing With Cruddy People While Out.....Brandiwine replied to wmramsel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I probably would have left, I would hope I wouldn't make a scene but can't promise that, depends on the situation, my mood, how hungry my baby is! My son and I rarely eat out anymore. His attitude would have made me feel that he wasn't serious enough about it and wouldn't want to take the chance. My sons symptoms are more like an allergy he coughs has trouble...
