  1. Oh and for a little help with the coffee quitting....the Water Joe caffeinated water works wonders for me when I'm working on quitting soda. I have a nasty mtn dew habit. Gives me the caffeine punch without all the sugar and crap attached. Then when I'm good from that....I wean myself off the water joe. It's easier for me that way. I'm working on finding...
  2. Hmmm....never thought about that. Good grief kitty litter is the last freaking place I would have thought to look for wheat! But I don't know that it's just the dust issue. He breaks out in hives and his eyes swell.....ahhh!!! Will have to look into the kitty litter thing. ******See? This is why I have a dog. Ok...not the only reason and really...
  3. Oh I wouldn't dump that much in the toilet either. What about freezing it though? Then when you're ready to try adding those things back into your diet....you don't have to go out and buy them you'll have them there already. I don't know where you are but our Festival Foods has a wonderful selection (and is cheaper!) of gluten free and organic and everything...
  4. How long have you been gluten free? From what I hear/read the withdrawl can be a real pain. Keep pushing through and if it isn't getting any better in a week or two....I would go see a doctor. Are you eating too much rice? I know that can spike your blood sugars and cause problems...though I'm not sure what kind or if your fatigue would be part of that...
  5. Oh....and I have no idea if dairy can cause those problems. I do know that I am lactose intolerant. Up until recently I was able to drink milk and eat cheese with no problems but if I had ice cream or the premade hot chocolate packets from the store I could pretty much guarantee that I was going to be violently sick within a couple of hours. Now...now I...
  6. How old is your daughter? I ask because my little guy is 6 and I'm having issues keeping him away from all foods....even telling the neighbor kids 1000xs that if he eats certain things they can make him really sick hasn't stopped it. *sigh* So that could always be an issue. I also have 2 teenagers that I know go and eat elsewhere (one works at McD's and the...
  7. Hugs to you and your daughter. What are the doctors saying about the continuing symptoms? Do they even have any guesses? I would maybe do a food elimination diet for a while and see if that helps. I keep seeing people writing about FODMAPS (I'm not even sure if that's the right way to spell that) and wonder if that would help get you to an answer...
  8. Huh. Thank you for sharing that article Gemini! I thought, for a second, it was going to be a snarky one like the ones my stepmom used to give me when my older two were young that talked about how exposing kids to certain animals when they were babies helped avoid allergies. Which...I know it can help some people but it didn't help my daughter and it certainly...
  9. I over reacted too. But you know what? If the people that make the food would put the ingredients in plain English...we wouldn't have to over react! Gluten should be gluten should be gluten....not some word that is 20 letters long that no one can pronounce! It makes it that much harder to teach my 6 year old what he needs to watch out for. He knows he needs...
  10. Hugs to you! Wish I had more to offer than that but I don't know anything about either the carafate or the thyroid meds and the mixing of them. I do know that someone with more knowledge than me will be along with good advice! Doctors just make me want to smack them upside the head lately....so I feel your pain there. Good luck and I hope you're feeling...

    ARCHIVED Scared

Hugs to you. The waiting and not knowing is always the worst part. Always....especially if you've made Dr. Google your friend! That is one friendship you should cut off immediately! Hard though, I know. Hope everything comes back ok and you can figure out something less sinister as the source of your problems.
  12. We've had an inhaler in the past but it didn't seem to do anything unless we got the actual reaction under control. Which is why we have the Singulair too (at least, I think that's why.) I didn't get a chance to call today but it's at the top of my list for tomorrow.
  13. I never heard that before....but for us it doesn't ring true. The first cat was black/dark gray and this cat is white with brown. Both reactions are equally horrible. But I have noticed in the past that usually they were reacting more strongly if the cat was an indoor/outdoor cat. Guess that isn't true anymore either since this last cat is strictly indoors...
  14. An angry....doesn't like people, cat. It really is...but it's an indoor long haired cat. But it doesn't seem to matter as much with him. Long hair or short hair....the other cat he's reacted to like that was an indoor/outdoor cat with short hair. My daughter is allergic to cats as well and while she has broken out in hives before....it's been an incredibly...
  15. Hmmmm....I think I will be putting a phone call in to the allergist on Monday. Kinda worried about this sudden reaction to a cat he's been around before. He was also complaining of a lump in his throat that was making it hard to breathe and swallow. THAT is what has me so nervous! Both times he was exposed to this cat....he complained of that. But in the...
  16. Ok, so we're doing a gluten free trial. We're a week and a day into it. This is for my 6 year old son. He is very allergic to certain kinds of cats. Other cats he's kind of allergic and some cats...like my neighbor's cat...he can pet and not react to at all. Though, he rarely spends any time inside that neighbor's house so that could be it too. When he...
  17. Thank you for explaining that to me. It makes sense. I thought the D test (yeah, I'll get these names down at some point!) was more sensitive for children....but she said they only use that test on really young children....so I'm thinking their cut off age for that test is well before 6 years old (which by the way, I think is ridiculous!) I don't think...
  18. Well....the other blood tests came back. Little man is negative on the EMA IgG (I think that's the test....I know it started with the E) and is negative for the genes for it as well. So they are telling me that means that he doesn't have Celiac and he couldn't possibly have it. So why oh WHY did he have a positive tTg? Right now I am continuing on the...
  19. I still don't see enough greens and other veggies in your diet. The addition of chicken and eggs are good (so long as your body can tolerate the eggs!) Maybe...along with your spaghetti in the morning you could have a smoothie with fruits and greens in it. Salad fixings aren't insanely expensive and one package of organic spinach would last you for a week...
  20. Good to know! Thanks!
  21. Thanks for those links! Those will be so incredibly helpful come school time!!! Or when my brain simply refuses to come up with lunch ideas like it did when I was first trying to come up with meals. So many good ideas in there!
  22. Some day I will figure out where all the threads are and then be able to post them for people. Thanks kareng!
  23. I think the if he's eating very little gluten...that may be affecting the tests. Especially given the family history. I would ask the GI doc if he thinks he should be eating more gluten for the tests. Or....given the family history....I'd just take him completely off gluten and maybe milk products too (or some kind of elimination diet) to see if you can...
  24. I believe you meet with the guidance counselor or whoever put it in place for you in the beginning and go over the plan. Then if there are any additions or subtractions from it....those get entered in and a revised plan is given to everyone, including you...you actually have to sign it and return it to the school to change it. Now....I've never had a 5...
  25. Umm...sorry I forgot the capital B and the ) make that smiley. I wasn't really meaning to put that there!
