  1. Or mostly official. The biopsies did come back negative but the GI doc said given the scalloping in his intestines and the positive blood test to try a strict gluten free diet for the next 3.5 months and we'll see her in October to see how things are going. So a strict diet it is. I am relieved to have some direction. She did take more blood to run the...
  2. Thanks.....I knew there was something else besides a copy of the blood work that I wanted to get but I couldn't remember what it was!
  3. We go see the GI doc today for the results from the endoscopy/biopsy. The nurse has already told me that it was negative for Celiac but there was evidence of gastritis. To continue the miralax and omeprazole. So. I plan on asking about gastritis and Celiac as what I've read they can go together. I plan on asking about NCGS and trying to figure out...
  4. Hugs! I am in a smaller...probably much MUCH smaller metropolitan area in central Wisconsin....we are currently in the I don't know what's going on anymore, stage. Little man had positive blood work but apparently has had a negative biopsy. We see the GI doc today for the results so I guess I'll know more after that. Hopefully. There is lots of information...
  5. Hugs Mama! That is exactly how I've been feeling with all of this with my little guy. He's six and I just got the negative endoscopy results from the nurse the other day. I have to write down my list of a million questions because he did test positive in the blood work. We see the doctor on Friday. Hopefully I get some answers then. But I hear you.....I...
  6. I plan on asking for a copy of the blood work. I know that for myself and my older two kids (and since we're all in the same system of docs) most likely my husband as well, they only ran 2 of the celiac panel. And off the top of my head I can't remember which ones...I know total immunoglubulin (pretty sure I spelled that wrong!) and one other one. I know...
  7. Let me apologize right off the bat because this is probably going to end up long and rambling. But my brain needs to figure this out. Also...I'm fairly certain I should be relieved at this point....but I'm not sure that I am. Anyway... History: 6 year old who started complaining that his stomach hurt in January (probably sooner but brushed it off for...
  8. Right now I don't know if I should be relieved or aggravated or frustrated or what. I got the results of little man's endoscopy today, from the nurse. I'm going to double check tomorrow that my appointment for Friday is still available, as they like to cancel my appointments without telling me. :/ Anyway...the nurse said the endoscopy was negative for...
  9. Thanks...it helps to have someone who gets that part. I'm slowly talking to all the neighbors and all the kids too....there's just one kid that worries me as he is constantly sneaking food out of his house! He'll bring out a whole container of something that was just bought at the store and feed all the kids in the neighborhood with it. Oy. His parents don...
  10. How in the world I'm going to keep gluten away from my 6 year old celiac who's friends with all the neighbors that all seem to like to feed him random crap! And I'm talking both kids and adults. I'm hoping the adults understand (and so far most of them are) but kids....well....they're kids. Also...how in the world we're going to afford to eat like this...
  11. No offense taken. Things are a bit tight right now and of course it's always a when it rains it pours kind of thing, ya know? I am currently looking for a job but that's going to be slow going as I haven't worked since I was pregnant with my 6 year old. I can manage though....we do have a freezer full of cow, thank goodness. We don't qualify for assistance...
  12. It really wasn't. And it was barely 15 minutes! They told us we had half an hour so we went to eat (since we didn't eat anything as the little guy wasn't allowed to) and all we did was go to the hospital cafeteria! Got back and they were cranky that we had left the room! Good grief. We were only gone for 20 minutes! Oy. Still waiting on the results. Hopefully...
  13. Hello and welcome. I wouldn't, at this point worry about my food being organic (or grassfed) or anything more special than being gluten free. Gluten free eating can be overwhelming just by itself and I know organic is costly and can be almost as frustrating if you live in an area that doesn't have a decent selection. I would start with getting gluten...
  14. Just wanted to offer hugs! It is all overwhelming....I don't have any good advice as we're brand new to this too (get the results from my 6 year old's biopsy sometime this week) and I am definitely feeling the same way.
  15. I would say that the next step after having all those tests done and come back with no answers would be to give going gluten free a try. Or some kind of food elimination diet....not quite sure which I would do first though...this is all quite new to me.
  16. I'm rather new to all this....more so even than you are! But, from what I understand, it's not so much that you're starting over. Your body is attempting to heal itself and getting exposed to gluten hinders that. But I don't think it takes you back to square one. I think of it more like, if you have a cut and it's started to heal but then you do something...
  17. Now we all just feel like taking naps! It was a very early morning for us and even more so for my poor husband that is just coming off 3rd shift. Add in a 2.5 hour drive both ways and we're pretty fried. Anyway...due to the holiday we won't get the biopsy results until Monday or Tuesday. She said she saw some scalloping (wth does that even mean?) but...
  18. Thanks for the ideas! I went and reread my post and realized that I didn't put in there that my little guy very rarely eats meat. He will on occasion eat a very small piece of chicken or some lunch meat. He'll eat hot dogs but I really don't want him eating hot dogs all the time. He doesn't eat beef products at all (with the exception of the hot dogs). His...
  19. Oh yeah...my MIL is the same way and my stepmom. The only one that really seems to listen at all is my mom. *sigh* My dad keeps telling me it's not going to be a big deal because there's so many restaurants that offer gluten free (and yes there are quite a few) but so far only one of them that I know of has dedicated space or way of keeping away the cc...
  20. Well huh! Small world sometimes isn't it?
  21. I'm rather new to this....and by rather new, I mean my 6 year old goes in tomorrow for his endoscopy and biopsy. So, I'm thinking the stress of that is lending itself to the complete lack of any ideas of what I am going to feed my family for lunches! Ah! Breakfast, I am ok with. I'm comfortable with the variety of things I have on my list...we aren't huge...
  22. Thanks! I've been trying to stay positive about all this because my youngest is really very good at reading me and I didn't want him worrying any more than he already was. Poor kid has been terrified that they were going to cut open his stomach and I don't know where he got that from. I will probably post my own thread about food for kids....I just keep...
  23. Oy. Sorry she got glutened yesterday! Hope you get some answers from this! I'm really beginning to stress out about my little guy's endoscope tomorrow. And the afterwards when I have to actually start with the gluten free diet. My menu planning skills absolutely stink. :/ My brain has just shut down and I'm no longer thinking clearly about food. *sigh...
  24. Did he say if he did any biopsies? The inflammation of the intestines sounds like Celiac but again...I'm working on learning all this too. I would definitely call and have him clarify his information to you. It's hard enough with some of these things when the doctor is full of good useful information....makes it a lot harder when they aren't giving you...
  25. That would confuse me too. I think I would definitely be concerned that there is a lot of inflammation at such a young age too and would definitely want to cut out all sources of gluten to see if it helps. I don't know what else can cause inflammation of the small intestines that would resemble Celiac and from what I've read there isn't much that would.....
