I watched her new talk show for the first time today and she definitely seemed way nervous, but she seemed to do better as the show went on. By the end of the show, I was enjoying it. I like the format. I like that she still does a lot of food stuff, but isn't boxed into something like the 30 minutes or the $40 and I like that she does other fun things...

Maybe he's discovered he actually has a problem with it? It's always possible... Nancy -
ARCHIVED Glutano Caramel Crunch Cookies
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Guhlia, I'm glad you posted a rave for these. I hate bashing a product so badly, so it's nice to have some balance. It sounds like maybe the ones I got may have been old because that filling was definitely white. I might try them again if they show up in one of the stores around here. On a side note, I tried your Cheetos chicken nuggets last night... -
ARCHIVED Lipton Onion Soup Mix?
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My stew turned out really good. I used beef boullion, onion powder, celery salt, regular salt and pepper. Yum! I'm going to pick up some more dehydrated onions so I have them for next time. Nancy -
Thanks everybody! I'm very lucky that my husband happily eats all the versions that my kids won't eat. My Whole Foods doesn't carry anything but Ians, which none of us like. I broke down last week and ordered a container of gluten-free frozen food from Gluten-Free Mall because my in-laws are staying with our kids while we're in Vegas next week. I wanted...

ARCHIVED Glutano Caramel Crunch Cookies
Nantzie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Blech, blech, blech. I didn't like these at all. The "caramel" doesn't resemble caramel at all. It's a slightly gritty white cream. The flavors don't blend at all. Maybe this is a case of a box sitting in a warehouse too long. But, wow, I don't like these at all. Considering it was $5.57 for the box of eight cookies, I thought I'd post a review here... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
Nantzie replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I keep meaning to pick up the Bil-Jac, but haven't done it yet. At our house, the dog food is pretty much the only thing that's gluten anymore. Nancy -
Sometimes newbies need to have their hands held for a little bit.. Now, dear, you know that white flour has wheat in it right..? Hey! No throwing stuff! Nancy

ARCHIVED How Fast Do You Feel Like Normal Again After Getting Glutened?
Nantzie replied to Yenni's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I feel pretty good the next day, but I'm still tired, unmotivated and cranky for a few days afterward. I love it when I get a long string of days where I don't get glutened because I'm really energetic and motivated. Sometimes I get a reaction on my hands, which takes about three weeks to heal. I've heard people here talk about not feeling back... -
ARCHIVED Your Favourite You Friendly Food!
Nantzie replied to Saz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Get the bittersweet chocolate and you can make the point that it is no longer a sweet. This is something that was one of my favorite meals when I was a kid. At first I refused to eat it because it looked so gross. After I tried it, I loved it and wanted my mom to make it all the time. It was one of the first things I ever learned to make. ... -
I would suggest you check all of your personal care products to make sure they're all gluten-free. I've run into some problems with hair and makeup products that don't have any questionable ingredients listed, but they cause me to get glutened anyway. I think it's just a problem of cosmetics and shampoos and things like that not having the same rules that...

You guys have got me laughing so hard I've got tears rolling. Between the Sorry you got blown up card, to the zipper earring, and now the mullet-o-rama, I'm laughing my booty off here. Did you guys ever notice that the word mullet never appeared anywhere until "they" decided that they were out of style? Nancy

ARCHIVED What Does Your Username Mean?

It is kinda fun to watch someone's eyes roll up in their head when I give my email address to someone already. If I throw in the ae, I can only imagine... Reminds me of that Steve Martin movie with Sarah Jessica Parker. Her name was SaNDeE - "Big S, small a, big N, big D, little e, Big E, and then I put a little heart at the end." Sounds like a... -
ARCHIVED My Enterolab Test Results, Please Help
Nantzie replied to kathy2005's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Ursula. If you have the genes for it, and you FEEL BETTER going gluten-free, you probably have it. It's just not showing up because of your low carb diet. I know what you mean by feeling like you're awake for the first time in years. Welcome to the board! Nancy -
ARCHIVED Lipton Onion Soup Mix?
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep. Not gonna risk it. I'm making stew in the crock pot. Mmm... I might dig through my cupboards and see if I can find some dehydrated minced onions though. I put in some bullion cubes and the basic meat and onions (browned first), and celery, carrots and potatoes. I'll mess around with the seasonings after everything starts melding together. Nancy -

Anyone know? Nancy -
This is from The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. Page 31 "Lord, nothing in me wants to pray for this man. I confess my anger, hurt, unforgiveness, disappointment, resentment and hardness of heart toward him. Forgive me and create in me a clean heart and right spirit before You. Give me a new, positive, joyful, loving, forgiving attitude...

My favorite is cubed chicken, minced apples, minced walnuts, minced celery, mayo, grainy mustard and a little bit of horseradish. Mincing the apples, walnuts and celery into small pieces makes it all stick to the chicken better. YUM! I haven't made this in a while. It sounds SOOO good right now... Nancy

I agree with everyone. It's normal to feel exactly how you're feeling. The best advice I have for going through a grieving process is to have the bad days when you have them, and the good days when you have them. Don't feel like you shouldn't be having the kind of day you're having or try to push down the feelings. They'll only spring up when you least...

ARCHIVED What Does Your Username Mean?

That's the funniest thing I've heard in a LONG time. It makes me nostalgic for my family. It reminds me of my Grandfather pronouncing my mom's name. Her name was Cheryl. He was from Sweden and had a very thick accent. The way he pronounced her name was Shrrl. One syllable. No perceptible vowel. My mom's sister's name was Joyce. If you know... -
Hi Ursula. I've been thinking about you today too. One of the things that really helped me was a book called The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I truly believe that the prayers in that book, that I clung to like a castaway to a life preserver, is what got my husband and I to the point where we are now. I don't know if you remember my...

ARCHIVED Possibility Of Complete Recovery?
Nantzie replied to myshrimpdied's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi! and welcome! Before I found out about celiac, I was SOOOooOOOooOOO hungry all the time. And all I wanted was gluten-based. I was either eating or actively resisting the urge to eat. There was never a time when I wasn't craving some gluten thing. About a month after I went gluten-free I noticed that not only was I not craving anything gluten... -
Oooo... How did you use it? 1:1 sub for regular flour? Cookies? Cakes? Fried Chicken? Biscuits? Just so you know, if you're looking for good bread, Pamela's Wheat Free Bread Mix smells very much like wheat bread and has a great texture. It doesn't fall apart at all. It's downright bendy. It has a taste that blends well with everything. My...

Aeon - I've always loved the ae combination character too. There was someone on a message board that I used to go to named Maendi, which was her real name. I never did figure out how she pronounced it though. Jules - I LOVE (!!!) the squiggles. I wish I would have thought of that. I may borrow the idea someday. I've used Nantzie as a username...
