  1. It's possible. Like I said, the food diary has been helping me to narrow done other intolerances. Actually, I find it very, very difficult to eat here. For starters, everything is cross contaminated, as soy sauce and barley is used in just about every dish. The diet is not wheat heavy, as in bread, but it's definitely gluten heavy with barley, soy sauce...
  2. Hello again everyone. Since I met my boyfriend, he has had chronic dry skin/eczema (especially around his mouth and on his elbows and knees,) a rash on one of his knees that looks just like DH (he has had the rash forever, it comes and goes in cycles but never completely heals, but it only itches a little bit), really bad gas all the time, a bloated...
  3. Hi Rachel, I feel your pain! I'm a kindergarten teacher and am also in a "sea of gluteny badness." I'm not sure if I'm super sensitive or not, as I'm still wading through all of my other intolerances to try and figure out what's what, but I do think that working in this field as a person with gluten issues is not the best idea, unfortunately. I'm also in...
  4. I second kareng. I foolishly cut gluten before getting tested, and now I'm looking at doing a gluten challenge, which I know will basically make me useless for four-ish weeks. I'm not sure if my body will be able to handle it. Get tested first. Either way, you know gluten makes you sick. If your blood tests come back positive, there's your answer. If they...
  5. Hello everyone. Happy Friday! I recently started keeping a food diary to better track my reactions to various foods (it's been amazing so far...I've figured out that I'm also intolerant to bananas and eggs, and have seen a huge increase in energy since cutting them out.) In the diary, I'm also trying to keep track of the changes in my bowel habits. They...
  6. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for your question, but I just find it utterly appalling that this is the state of health care in this day and age. It makes me sick. Sick people = need health care. I cannot understand why it's so difficult and why people who NEED health care will be punished for circumstances that they cannot control.
  7. I realize that this is an old post, and I may be a bit too late, but for what it's worth... Hi there, I actually live in Asia and have had similar experiences. When I first came here, I had been gluten-free for about 7 months. I got sick almost immediately. I realized very soon on that some of the "rice flours" and "potato flours" that I'd been purchasing...
  8. Find a new doctor. You deserve to have a doctor who respects you, who cares about you, and who takes you seriously. You aren't a child. You know your body and your symptoms. Listen to your intuition!
  9. Oh, that's great news. I certainly hope that it's available someday! Thank you so much for the quick reply.
  10. Hi everyone. I'm feeling so bummed after today. I've been gluten free for 9 months, and in those 9 months saw several ailments that I've lived with my whole life heal, including migraines, chronic yeast infections, chronic fatigue, severe acne, and constipation/diarrhea (among many other symptoms and ailments.) I'm only 25, so dealing with all of these things...
  11. Yes, I have had pelvic pain for years. I've been to the gyno dozens of times about it, have had ultrasounds and tests, and everything in there is normal. It only recently occurred to me that it could be due to gut inflammation. I've also had really strong pain (like a muscle being pulled and pinched) in what I thought was my uterus/ovaries when I cough...
  12. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this symptom after eating gluten? For me, it was after eating bread products. Within about 20 minutes, I would get...the only way to describe it is like this: I would get the sensation of a really persistent itch being scratched, but from inside my stomach. And a sense of what I might almost call "stomach elation...
  13. I'm wondering because the primary symptom that first started me on my explorations of health, nutrition, the body, and holistic wellness was a sudden outbreak of acne at age 19 that increasingly got worse and worse and worse as time went on. I distinctly remember the whole thing beginning with my face becoming extremely oily, far more than what would...
  14. Hi prizm, I'm a 25 year old woman who started getting acne, REALLY bad acne, around age 19. It was incredibly frustrating to have had perfectly clear skin all through puberty and then to be hit with acne as an adult! In addition to the acne, my face began taking on a red, flushed sort of look that got worse and worse over the years. Like you, I chased cures...
  15. Hi everyone. I'm "officially" new here, though I've been haunting for a good while. Like SO very many of you lovely, helpful people, I've been sick in weird ways for as long as I can remember. After a very long journey into innumerable aspects of nutrition and holistic health, I finally realized that gluten is/has been the source of my sickness, and...
