  1. Hi ravenwoodglass, Thank you for your reply. I actually just spoke to the doctor, and he told me that it's nothing to worry about, because when the blood samples don't go directly to the lab and have to sit around for a while, for some reason the sample will read as having a very high potassium level, when it actually is not. My creatine/uric acid levels...
  2. I just got a complete nutritional analysis back, and is said that I have low vitamin D (shocking, considering I just returned from living in the tropics for two years) and high lympocites/esosonophils, low segment neutrophils, low sodium, but extremely high potassium, like, more than double the amount that it should be. I'd been eating gluten-free for...
  3. LOL, we should start a thread... "You know you're a celiac/gluten intolerant person when...." -you keep a spoon in your purse, just in case.
  4. Mmm, I really like those yogurt covered Kind bars!
  5. I don't have an answer for this question, but my mom had gestational diabetes with her first pregnancy, and maybe with me too, though I'm not sure. With my gluten intolerance/potential celiac and her history of stomach problems, I've been trying to persuade her to get tested, but she refuses. I'd love more info on this topic to show to her if anyone has any...
  6. I'm very, very Irish and am fascinated by the connection between that and celiac. I seem to remember reading a hypothesis somewhere that said the Irish diet was always traditionally very heavy in potatoes, and then when wheat was introduced, people just couldn't handle it.
  7. Wow GB, that's great. I'm very happy for you. Doctors who care really make me smile.
  8. Thanks, Emi. I've actually been 9 months off gluten (with the odd accidental glutening here and there.) Prior to that, I did not eat a diet heavy in gluten-based foods. A study I read, actually the only relevant study I can find on the issue (Leffler, Schuppan, and Pallav, "Kinetics of histological....responses to gluten challenge") states that fourteen days...
  9. Get tested! Once you go gluten free, your test results will no longer be accurate.
  10. Just wondering. Having just begun a challenge, at day two, I'm thinking...eh, this isn't going to be so much fun. (I'm sweating like CRAZY for one thing, and am running a low grade fever. Weird.) I've looked all over the place and can't seem to find very many stories of people who've gone through this for a biopsy after a long time of gluten-free, and...
  11. Hi again everyone. I've been very question happy this week on the forum. Thank you for your responses! I'm starting a gluten challenge, and as I recently figured out that I'm allergic to eggs, my options for getting in a good amount of gluten are limited. Right now, I've just started with Tesco brand malted milk chocolate biscuits (I've only had three...
  12. Anyone know? The test just said "gliadin ab : positive." I'm trying to figure out if that's the older, more outdated test, or if that's the new test. Thank you lovely folks.
  13. I get chills as a response to gluten. I'd say it could definitely be such a reaction!
  14. Oh yeah! Irish Heart, I will hook you up! Open Original Shared Link
  15. But I feel that I've become sort of a food ninja when it comes to prepping my food ahead of time. Let me know if you'd like any tips.
  16. Hi Inksng, I live in Korea and have had similar issues with eating out. To be perfectly honest, I have felt sick so many times I've eaten out, I prefer to just cook my own food now. Yes, it definitely sucks to not be able to eat out like I used to, but I'll take feeling better any day over eating out in a restaurant. There was a similar thread with a...
  17. Yes! I have a little bit of a cookie problem. Iherb really helps me out in that department.
  18. Haha, yes Irish Heart, I actually order lots of goodies from iherb.com. WONDERFUL and their international shipping is totally affordable! Coming back to the States...ah, sigh, yes, eventually, but alas I shall no longer have insurance there after the end of the year. I suppose it's time to look into the Affordable Care Act. As I've been gone for so long...
  19. I can check into it, but the doctor that I was seeing before is the head doctor at an English medical clinic in Seoul, and he told me that he had previously recommended another patient to have a biopsy done, but that the doctors in the local hospitals (the best ones in the country) basically said "no, we can't do that." I wonder how sending the slides out...
  20. That's a good idea. The doctor who did the test advised him that he has potential gluten sensitivity/celiac but that he should get a biopsy. I'm just trying to figure out the likelihood of this being celiac or something else.
