  1. I know it's theoretically possible, but I can't imagine that it's THAT common or easy to accomplish. But this morning, I went to a little bakery to pick up a gift for someone, and within five minutes of leaving I started to feel the beginnings of a glutening, mostly the weird tiredness and the droopy eyes. But really, that fast? Only being there for a few...
  2. I take excedrin migraine, the plain version that's the uncoated white pill, and that works miracles for me. I know it's bad to rely on a medication like that, but I won't leave the house without it. Regular advil is also gluten free, according to this gluten free drugs website: http://www.glutenfreedrugs.com/list.htm.%C2'>
  3. These are so quick and easy to make, and they are delicious. There's plenty of room to be creative too! In food processor, mix onions, garlic, veggies (I normally use zucchini, a little carrot, and red bell pepper, but you can add whatever you want, or whatever you happen to have handy) and mix in about 1.5 cups of pasta sauce, 3 tablespoons olive oil...
  4. Pegleg84, I will post the recipe in the recipes section!
  5. So glad you are done with all of that gluten yuckiness. I hope you feel better soon!
  6. Oh, Amen to that!!! Yesterday I was thinking about how incredibly peeved I would have been had I found out that coffee had gluten. I shudder at the thought...
  7. My calcium and vitamin D levels were normal on my blood work last month, so my doctor said that I don't need to do any sort of bone density tests. What's been your experience with this? Do you think a bone density test is necessary? I'm 25.
  8. It looks like your results are negative, but since you've been "gluten light," I would say it's possible that your results may not be accurate. That's judging from information that I've learned on this board--I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate. That being said, it's also possible that you don't have celiac, but that you are gluten intolerant. Either...
  9. Do you recommend any particular brand, Bartfull?
  10. So much energy you couldn't sit still? MY that sounds AMAZING. I'm sold. I'll try it.
  11. Thank you, thank you everyone. 1desperateladysaved, I had all of my vitamin levels checked, including protein, a few months ago and everything looked normal. I take a multi and Vitamin D but not a specific B vitamin complex. I will look into that. I am almost certain that everything is safe. I've become fanatical since realizing that before when I THOUGHT...
  12. Is anyone familiar with the gluten free status of Tesco brand spices? It's the only foreign brand I can find so far in Korea.
  13. That is a good question, shadowicewolf. How much is "enough"? I'm a vegetarian, so I probably do get less than the average person. I can't do eggs. Hmmm. Do you think adding in some protein would help? If so, do you have any suggestions as to what I might eat? I eat beans sometimes, but they seem to give me the sleepies too.
  14. Hello, everybody. I've only been completely gluten free for about a month now and I'm definitely starting to feel better. But there's one thing that's been bothering me, which is the very obvious dive in energy that happens right after lunch, almost every day. I'm certain my lunch is safe. Could it be a poor reaction to carbs? If so, is this just the way...
  15. We had a discussion about this a while ago. From what I understand, Asian manufacturers often label things 100% pure, when in actuality they are closer to 70 or 80 percent. I purchased a bag of "100% rice flour" about six months ago, but when I looked at the ingredients label, it actually said "wheat flour" in Korean. I don't trust foreign labeling at all...
  16. Weirdly enough, I was experiencing it just as I saw your post! I know what you're talking about, but I don't know what causes it. For me, it's not painful, just weird and slightly annoying. It usually happens when I am sitting down at the computer or hunched over something, so I wonder if it has something to do with pinched nerves or cutting off blood flow...
  17. Could it be that your body is going into protection mode, and severely slowing down your metabolic processes? Could it also be bloating and water retention? Yikes, it sounds like you are not doing too well on a challenge! Are you sure you want to go through with it? Vomiting that much and dealing with that much diarrhea sounds as if your body is having a...
  18. Yes. I have not been called out directly (yet) but I can tell that my employers are getting frustrated with my less than stellar performance some days. I just keep getting hit by something, so I'll have one GREAT day, and then one so/so, and then two or three where I'm walking through molasses tired, or I have a migraine, or I'm extremely down and emotional...
  19. I've been using Eucerin, but the rep told me that it's made with oats and is made on shared equipment. Most cosmetics don't both me, but the moisturizer definitely gets on my lips and I'm sure some ends up in my belly! Do you have a favorite daily moisturizer with SPF?
  20. Gravy pretty much always contains flour as a thickening agent. That might be why.
  21. Hi Marie, are you as close to 100% sure as you can be that you aren't accidentally getting glutened by something? My symptoms of getting glutened are primarily neurological, and one of my most primary ones is what I call "the doom." Basically, very soon after getting glutened, I am overwhelmed by a sense of intense hopelessness. Sometimes it passes within...
  22. Sort of. I live in a place where there is zero access to gluten-free convenience foods, so I have to make everything from scratch. I experimented with various types of pizza crusts, and this one does not require letting dough rise, and is mostly grain free. I just LOVE amaranth because when cooked, it behaves very much like bread dough in that it is...
  23. I think that you have a really great attitude--seek testing and, if the results are negative, still try gluten free to see if it makes you feel better!
