  1. I forgot to mention that I e-mailed Publix again just to tell them that the manager at my reg. store (who is new to my store but not to Publix) had never heard the word gluten before. So if they don't mind, maybe they could tell their store managers (at least them) where the gluten free foods are in the store. At WF, I only asked for help to find two things...
  2. Thanks for posting this George. I will e-mail the author too.
  3. The smell of Mary Kay always bothered me so I never used it after getting one lipstick. I found Lumene in my CVS. It looks like a great line. All I needed was lip liners/lipsticks which I got (under $8/$9) but I also got an eye liner since I was there. At their display they have free pamplets about - one each for the color and the skin care. When my cheaper...
  4. In my support group we had a few members speak about eating out safely abroad. One woman prepared herself with dining cards and learned a few key key Italian phrases and did fine. She only had one restaurant that told her that they were not comfortable feeding her. The best place we ate in Florence (pre dx) was Aqua Aldue (don't think that's spelled right...
  5. Only been gluten-free for 6 days. Very rarely do I remember my dreams. So yesterday at 5:30 am I awoke from a horribly vivid nightmare. It involves my two grown siblings, my parents and me. I have never dreamed about my parents since I've been grown that I remember anyway. So we are in a hotel which inside evokes memories of the house I grew up in. During...
  6. TestyTommy - yes my frequency has reduced by maybe 70% since going gluten-free but I'v only been on the diet for 6 days so I don't know if this will continue. I am still drinking same amount of fluids (8+ glasses water per day plus hot tea or coffee). I have never had severe thirst issues on or off gluten however. I will be very happy if this is my symptom...
  7. Didn't make it to CVS yet. This deglutonizing the house thing took more time that I'd thought...and we still have stuff to do. In any case, I will just call the CVS tonight or tomorrow before going. After finding about three gluten-free soups in my reg. grocery store today (Publix) I just don't want to drive all the way to CVS to be dissappointed. I have...
  8. I fot Publix confused with another store. The manager had never heard the word gluten before but said if they had something like that, it would be in their healthy food isle and he was right. There is was, all of maybe three soups that were safe. I went back and pulled up Publix's e-mail and they said I had to call their 800# and they would mail me a copy...
  9. Wow! Thanks for explaining this so thoroughly. My balsamic vinegar is pure w/nothing added and not cheap so I'm glad I didn't throw it out this morning. And also, my pickles and relish for that matter. I actually thought of you today when I was perusing the 'health food isle' in Publix for gluten-free stuff and they had some flours you have mentioned on your...
  10. Thanks I'll check it out! We did get through out pantry/fridge cleaning out but we got a late start. I needed to sleep in today due to bizare dream which woke/kept me up (will post about that on the sleep thread for interpreting help on Monday). Cleaning out the kitchen thing took a while. And we dind't even clean the silverware drawer out yet! Enjoy your...
  11. I have gone through everything in my house last night and today with the Delphi list. However, when it comes to products containing vinegar it keeps saying for example 'Kraft believes all vinegar to be gluten-free, no matter the source'. Could anyone shed some light on this please? I have pickles, relish, bbq sauce and such that seem gluten-free except for...
  12. I know this is probably going to make you either laugh or think I am grasping at straw (or both) but we are going to the movie tomorrow for first time since my dx Monday. Should I assume I can not have my beloved movie theatre popcorn - without butter of course? We just spent three hours going over everything in the pantry and have to go shopping at Publix...
  13. I contacted Publix via their website. They did get back to me to say I had to go to my store and ask to see the manger and ask for their gluten-free product list. I am prepared to have the guy stare at my blankly in the next couple hours when we attempt our grocery shopping today, to restock everything we just threw out of the pantryfridge today. I'll post...
  14. Thanks! There is one not far from here but with all my vain attempts to find the correct items I'm going to call them before heading down there. It's less than 5 miles from me though. You are awesome to post this!!!
  15. Sending positive thoughts to your Mom, you and your family. Please keep us posted regarding how she's doing.
  16. Got it - thanks!!!
  17. Will do Judy. But just calling the dentist today took forever so I'm calling the gyno Monday. At least one hygenist knew what I was talking about for gluten-free cleaning products. They don't have any but use baking soda and some non rotary tool. Don't know what that tool thing is about but I'll just ask when I get there in May. My dentist is very popular...
  18. Others who can answer more of your questions will post soon I'm sure. But since you had a similar blood test to mine I thought I could as least help there. Only 1 of 6 blood test came back positive for me - the tTg which was only a 10. Then two months later another doc ran the same panel and the tTg came back a 7. He said I was fine but was a hemotologist...
  19. Am I completely losing it or did the way posts are shown just change sometime today? The first post shows and then little snippets of all the reponses with posters names are shown below. This is annoying so I hope I did something wrong on my end which one of you techy people can tell to me how to fix.
  20. Sorry - my pharmacist won't fax the ingredients of my cream - said to call the dr. I had to leave a message with the nurse. She will probably call back next Friday (7 days on average for non emergencies). So anyway, I see now that on my jar is doesn't say Duracream anyway - don't know why because that is what my doctor calls it. So here is it: Eurax/Betamethasone...
  21. What drugstore? I'm going back out today to look for safe make up. So far I found Cover Girl lipsticks at Walgreens and Neutrogena foundation at Target. Had safe mascara but still looking for lip/eye liners and powder. I have never seen or heard of Lumene but I'll try if I can find.
  22. Just wanted to add that yesterday I found out from the lady at Univ. of Chicago celiac disease program that some guy on cnbc named Keith Oberman or Overman has Celiac. She said he has mentioned it on his show before but doesn't know how extensively so I will try and e-mail him too. Not sure though he could be a stock guy...never heard of him before yesteday...
  23. Kingschild - big hugs from me too. I never thought in a million years that I would pat myself on the back for going grocery shopping without crying. My first trip to WF was Wed. and I was alone. I wanted to go on a non weekend day since I knew I'd be in peoples way (reading labels) on a weekend day. I came close to tears fairly quickly but the only time I...
  24. As usual Vincent makes a good point. I would like to add that I don't hate any doctors and my post was me bashing some of my doctors which I personally can do with hating them. Do I think I saw several unknowledgeable, uncaring and unhelpful ones? Of course. That's why I kept switching to another one (firing them) and that is what I'll continue to do when...
  25. Oh my gosh Judy! What a great idea! Thank you for doing that. I'm going to watch it now. I missed just a snipet since I was half asleep but I heard bloating and Celiac and I jumped so high I almost fell of the bed. This is the beginning of something big for us people.
