    I need an rx for folic acid and I can't take OTC right now as the GI said I'm not going to get enough that way due to damaged villi.     Vydorscope - go to a dollar store. I got a plastic strainer there for $1. I prefer plastic to our heavy stainless one and sure enough you can't get the gluten pasta residue off the plastic ones.

    johanna - if I understood the docs point about sugar it was that the 'replacement' foods many Celiacs eat (gr bread, cookies, etc.) have more sugar or fructose in them than their gluten couterparts. So my guess is that if one doesn't eat a whole lot of those replacement foods, one may not need a probiotic. I don't see the dietician for three weeks but this...

    I started taking Culterelle Sunday. The Celiac expert I saw speak Saturday says Celiacs need probiotics for life due to issues with too much sugar in our diets. I plan to ask the dietician to explain this further. The doc said she likes Culterelle b/c they are easy to travel with (no refridg. needed). I found them for $20 for a 30 day supply at Walgreen...

    atlchris - google meetup.com/celiac and you should find the group that meets once a month to dine out and share info on how to do so safely. You do not have to attend each outing in order to join and there is no sign up fee. There seems to be a $2 fee that you pay the group's facilitator when you do attend the outing.
