  1. Thanks everyone and thanks to Nini for listing the Celiac panel blood tests the Dr. spoke of. I hope this info can help someone who is being given conflicting information as I was given by doctors who didn't know much if anything about Celiac disease.

    ARCHIVED Would You Believe?

Ditto to what Rusla said - clone that doctor!!!
  3. I have the Clan Thompson smart drug list and my reg. Centrum isn't listed on it as either safe or unsafe. This bottle I have is probably a year old and it is not expired yet. Anyway, what I have is not even available anymore. Only the new improved version called Centrum Advanced Formula with lycopeine is on the Centrum website so I had to call them today...
  4. The Dr. I saw is the leading Celiac expert in a major US city and she is noted in Wheat-Free, Worry-Free (Dana Korn) due to her expertise on the subject. Most of her time is spent educating doctors about Celiac so future patients won't have to endure what many of you have. She spoke at my support group on Sat. and below is what I thought was important...
  5. Welcome! There are a couple of support groups that meet in person here. Two are informational seminar type meetings. I've only been to the one in Cobb County but there is a group in Gwinnett as well. I'll try and find out if they have a website...I forgot how I joined. I think the Cobb meetings (4/yr) are free and the Gwinnett meetings (6/yr) are $10 per...
  6. Thanks broncobux! No I haven't tried those sausages but I'm sure Harry's carries them here. I prefer to pay extra (if necessary) for the gluten free marked items when possible. I'd like to not spend two hours getting $50 worth of groceries reading every label of every item. I'll read them when I have to (which is most of the time) but really I can make up...
  7. Thanks Richard. I guess I'll call Hormel again and see what they say IF I can get a real human on the phone - yesterday I could not. Applegate farms has lots of gluten free sausages so I may switch to them anyway.
  8. Hi flampton - welcome to the board. I can only share my celiac panel results with you. Only the tTg test came back positive for Celiac and it was only a 10. For various reasons I had another panel done two months later and only the tTg was positive again - only it was now only a 7. The doc who ran that panel called to say I do not have Celiac disease. The...
  9. Thanks for your post Dani. I knew there was a reason I skipped a Hershy bar after seeing in the Delphi list that they can't say the mini candy bars are gluten free. I've had a few bites throughout the week of the 365 brand dark choc. bar and I feel better than ever so I'll stick with them from now on. Hershey's is out for me.
  10. Bless you VydorScope! One part of the report says 'consistent with Celiac disease' and the other part talks about non-tropical sprue which confused (and scared) me. Have a great weekend!
  11. Can someone post where I can find a thread about this? There is something on my labs indicating non-tropical sprue.
  12. luvs2eat - just e-mail any show you do respect, the more people we bother, the better our chances of being heard are. ms_silly_sccrewed - I do not get HBO or whatever network Sopranos is on but if you'll post their website, I'll e-mail the show and pretend that I do ! That is a fantastic idea!
  13. Judy - On the www.gma.abcnews.com site, there is a place that says something like 'questions or comments'. That is how I e-mailed them both to thank Dr. Tim last week and to ask them to put the video back up. Bot today I noticed they now offer a service called 'video on demand' and they charge a monthly fee for it. I would not pay them a penny for that service...
  14. Oh my gosh!! Now I have to go through my desk and find that little bottle made for wetting envelopes...ummm....okay here it is. Only my invoice envelopes are not self stick. That gluten is a trickster indeed. Karen - thanks for telling about my folders. I have cleaned them out now.
  15. Hez - thanks for posting about DisneyWorld! That is so awesome. I went to Disney (and no where else) all the time growing up so I haven't enjoyed it much as an adult but now I may just have to go there just to support them for doing such a great job for their customers! Hey there's an idea.....(lightbulb goes off in her head)........ What about Disney Corp...
  16. Richard - you seem to be an expert regarding labels and I went over the delphi list maybe three times so far trying to learn what's safe and most importantly which companies list what allergens on their labels. Armor has a new turkey sausage that seemed clear cut on the label to be safe so I bought it, knowing I'd need to call them anyway because I'm still...
  17. TCA - thanks for posting about the breaded chicken! I could not find them at Publix but I didn't know the brand name. Some guy came on this forum once and asked members to go to their stores and ask for his product so he could get it in the stores. I didn't write down the info at the time (since I was still in testing stage and in denial) and then I could...
  18. I really want to get my letter out to BC/BS next week but I realized I'm not sure where to send it in forms of correct address or dept. My ins. card has only the billing address on it. Since they routinely record phone calls I'm not sure I want to bring attn. to myself right now since I have a postive biopsy as a matter of record and my husbands company...
  19. I like your idea about Scott getting involved but I don't know if he is willing to do this. Maybe he'll let us know. In any case, I will start the thread tomorrow aabout bombarding GMA to beg them to put the video back up. This is just plain odd to me. I know for sure (since I reg. watch GMA) that one of their videos (of so many) is over six months old. Why...
  20. Hi and welcome! You may have noticed I can only help you with one question but it's a start right?! My main symptom is anemia so I am familiar with ferritin. As it was explained to me by three different docs, it is the level of your iron stores. So for instance when I started taking iron, the doc checked my iron level again after six weeks but she forgot...
  21. I defer to Canadian Karen....I change my nomination to Timber4est as the 'smartest Celiac of the week'. I did not catch that first line above the guote Karen. I like your idea to put a name on the letterhead. I'm going to put that text really obnoxiously bold on the top and bottom of the page so whoever reads it won't forget it.
  22. Just wanted to note that GMA finally got back to me today and said they are considering my request about putting the video back up on their site. I still find it fishy that they have about 500 videos on their site...some really old ones and yet they can't keep the Celiac video up for a week.
  23. Eactly Rachel! That's why I started this post. Like I said before, if everyone who could have Celiac went in to ask to get tested and the docs were the same as mine and more importantly like the rest of your docs...well then all the publicity in the world wouldn't benefit anyone. My GI told me flat out I couldn't have it and well...he was very wrong in the...
  24. Karen - you are wonderful! I will copy your letter myself too if you don't mind. I have put this on my to do list for next Monday. And for example to those who think insurance companies won't care, try and mention any personal experiences you had with the docs that you can show costs them more money already. I had two Celiac panels run and didn't even know...
  25. Ummm. ...Hulkster - did you read post #68...I think it says H right? I did do two weeks for G by mistake but still got in H unless I'm not able to read anymore from tryng to memorize the Delphi list - ha ha!
