  1. What about chickpeas? This one has been on my list to try for a while... Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Ah!

I agree with you 1000%. I am so tired of being poked, prodded and marinated. My Mom joked that they only thing they haven't done is cook me yet...this was before I got the results back from my colonoscopy and my answer was, "They may yet, depending on what they found..." I'm also really tired of getting the eye roll from co-workers. Yes, I miss work....
  3. Thanks LauraTX! That's my Sun Conure, Beaker. Really, the HIDA scan is just a hoop to jump through...I know it needs to be taken out but it has to be confirmed, blah, blah, blah. I'm planning on getting it out before the end of the year so I don't have to give my first born child for a deductible.
  4. cyclinglady is right, too much iron and just as bad as too little. I'd also say that the testing needs to be done. During my initial blood work I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia but after a course of prescription iron I still didn't respond...turns out, I have thalassemia trait. So it could be more than just iron deficiency anemia. My fatigue...
  5. I think mine is a family curse too. My Mom had hers out a while ago and they had to do the HIDA to see it wasn't working. I will be glad to have it gone though. I deal with the big D enough...waking me up in the middle of the night is icing on the cake plus all the other nonsense it causes. I actually started bringing my lunch to work today, gluten...
  6. I saw my GI on Wednesday. He basically said that I don't have Celiac based on my test results (not that surprised) and completely blew off any of my other questions about it. His opinion is that all my symptoms are coming from a malfunctioning gallbladder. Ultrasound and HIDA scan for that Monday. Some of my symptoms are definitely coming from my gallbladder...
  7. Quinoa is good too. Make sure you're getting a complete protein. So combine grains with legumes or nuts. There are only a few options for complete protein grains for vegetarians; quinoa, buckwheat, hemp seed, and soybeans. Most dairy gives complete protein, too. I like throwing some chia seeds in my greek yogurt to bulk it up a bit. It took a while for me...
  8. I caved this morning. Had a nice breakfast with some toast. Two glorious pieces of toast. I payed for it all day. I've been sleepy headed with brain fog all day. And just a few minutes ago the bathroom breaks started. I feel super high maintenance with the new gluten-free diet. I haven't even had the guts (ha! pun!) to try gluten-free bread yet...I'm kind...
  9. Ultrasounds aren't going to show anything for Celiac. Unless they are looking at that upper right quadrant for gallbladder issues. I wouldn't think the pain would take a week to show up from gluten. At least, I've never heard of it taking that long. The pain on your right side. Does it feel like fullness or a golf ball under your ribs? What you...
  10. Basically when you have lots of reflux/acid it causes the esophagus to narrow. My Grandfather has to get his stretched every few years, too. When they did my endoscope my esophagus was swollen, so I opted to wait a while and see what happens. When I looked up gallbladder symptoms after my appointment I did read about people who don't get stones but...
  11. It took 12 hours today. I had my first 2 pieces of true bread for breakfast this morning in a long time. I'm still on gluten because the testing hasn't been completed and my GI told me I don't have Celiac...so I thought, "Why not?" BIG mistake.
  12. I just got back from my GI doc with some of your symptoms. His diagnosis was a malfunctioning gallbladder. So now I get to have an ultrasound and HIDAscan. When you get the yellow D, does it burn? That's also an indication of gallbladder issues. I also have a full feeling right under my rib cage about an hour or so after I eat. My issues with swallowing...
  13. Really, the bottom line is: Does going gluten free make you feel better? If the answer is yes, then you can call it non celiac gluten intolerance and call it a diagnosis. I'm holding out for an endoscope because I want to know if there is any damage. It sounds like from your scope that there was some kind of damage and I know I've heard of the scallops before...
  14. Yup..that Hiatal Hernia will cause the swallowing problems. I flipping hate them. Hopefully they will find something. =c)
  15. I didn't even think my bathroom habits were abnormal until I started having more problems earlier this year. I just assumed everyone went to the bathroom an hour after eating. Once I started having stomach cramps and issues with blood again, I decided it was time to get it checked out. I've already had a c-scope (which found a pre-cancerous polyp) and endoscope...
  16. From what I understand (and I'm far from an expert) if the IGG is positive, it means there is gluten intolerance. Which would lead to the biopsies being performed. Once place says that only a positive IGG is not an indication of Celiac. However, your IGA is low and there are people who are IGA deficient. Being IGA deficient will lead to always negative results...
  17. I have an appointment on Thursday to talk to him about my test results. I'm pretty sure they are negative (which means diddly squat). I posted the results in another thread, here they are: Immunoglobulin IGA 279 (I can't find a range for this...but it is listed under 'abnormal' IGG 2 IGA 5 tTG IGA 3 When I looked on the website for the interpretation...
  18. I'm only eat gluten once a day and I'm only doing that until I know if the GI wants to do an endo. When I had the discussion with my Mom it was more of a "keep eating the same for lunch and the house will be gluten-free." After this...I'm thinking I just need to enjoy some toast and start making my lunches for work. I have a horrible, horrible fast food addiction...
  19. I had Arby's (something that hasn't caused problems in the past...which is why I still eat it). I'm on gluten until at least Thursday. The nausea pills I have seem to work. This isn't the first time it's happened. The last time it happened was after I ate out but I don't remember where.
  20. I am beyond tired of dealing with this. I finished lunch about 2 hours ago. I just had a nausea/dry heaving spell that is barely managed with some nausea pills. Has anyone else done this?
  21. I wear one for my Sjogren's. Mostly so that they know the meds I'm on. Since I got it almost a year ago I've been diagnosed with Diabetes and am still in the process of Celiac diagnosis. Once I get that squared away I will be ordering another one that will include Celiac. I think even if I only had Celiac I'd still have one. But I'm a worse case scenario...
  22. Yes, it was from the lab's website. There's a test number along with their website on the print out.
  23. Hmmm....I'll have to check into a more specialized allergist.
  24. Aaand think it's negative, but my primary said that it was positive. Here are the results: Immunoglobulin IGA 279 (I can't find a range for this...but it is listed under 'abnormal' IGG 2 IGA 5 tTG IGA 3 When I looked on the website for the interpretation it says: <20 units, negative 20-30 units, weak positive >30 units moderate to...
  25. Corticosteroids such as prednisone have been used successfully in treating some patients with refractory celiac disease. Immuno-suppressive drugs (medications that suppress a person’s immune system) such as azathioprine (Imuran, Azasan) and cyclosporine also have been used. Open Original Shared Link Maybe a better question would be: If it's used to h...
