  1. I was on a low dose of Prednisone (10mg) for about 8 months. I stopped it about 3 weeks ago. I'm learning now that may cause false negatives for Celiac? /facepalm Anyone have experience with this? How long do I need to be Prednisone free until the tests wouldn't be effected?
  2. Thanks, w8in4dave. I'll keep you guys updated.
  3. I had my endoscopy and a colonoscopy done Thursday. I'm still not entirely sure what all he did, but I do know I had some pretty big polyps that they are testing and a hiatal hernia. I'm about 80% sure he did the Celiac biopsy. I should have asked ahead of time but there's been so much going on. And honestly, I don't need a diagnosis to know I need to go...
  4. Ha! Yea, I assume some of it is going to be uber nasty. I did find some Falafel chips at Whole Foods today. AMAZING!
  5. Awesome! Thanks for the website. I'll look them over.
  6. Looked into the USP verified supplements. Only 4 brands. None of which are gluten free that I saw and no liquids to be found. Nature's Way (the only brand I recognised) doesn't even make a liquid supplement.
  7. Ugh. I hate hearing that teens are having problems! I still feel like I'm not far from those years myself (but I have a case of the 90s were 10 years ago). Have you done the genetic testing yet? Even if she is negative for Celiac now, with the DQ2 and DQ8 genes it makes it much more likely for her to develop it down the road.
  8. You are very welcome. I would give about 2 months or so on the vit D supplement and then retest. Vit D is not actually a vitamin in the normal sense and it's absorbed differently so it might take a bit for her levels to rise. The fish oil should help lubricate her joints, so that's good. If she does go low on vit D the doc will most likely prescribe D2. D...
  9. My rheumy regularly does SED rate westergren which will show how much inflammation is in her body. C Reactive Protein will also help determine how much 'activity' she has (as in...when my SED is high my Sjogren's is active). The normal range for my SED lab is 0-20 and I usually run around 45. I've heard of people running much much higher. I also strong arm...
  10. Basically you pay around $30 to get a box of different products in the mail. The websites are: tasteguru.com gfreely.com Open Original Shared Linkfreefoodie.com It seems like a good way to get a sampling of different products. But I don't know anyone that's gotten them. And from what I saw on youtube reviews the gfreely boxes have a lot of the same...
  11. Has anyone tried these? So far I've seen foodguru, Gluten-Free foodie and gfreely. I'd like to do something like this since we don't have a whole lot of health food resources. We've only had a Whole Foods for about 2 years and they don't carry the newer stuff.
  12. I was about her age when I started experiencing joint pain. It definitely wasn't as severe, but it was limiting. You said she was tested for arthritis and her ANA test was negative. When you say ANA test are you referring to Lupus? ANA testing is not just to diagnose Lupus. Having a positive ANA is a good indication of an autoimmune disorder, but a negative...
  13. You could try this... Open Original Shared Link It's basically a cauliflower white sauce without any cheese. I haven't tried it yet but as soon as I can get to the grocery store I'm getting some cauliflower and trying it.
  14. I'm under the impression that the liquid vitamins are easier to absorb. As soon as I can I'm switching to a liquid multivitamin. I can take capsule B-Complex multiple times a day (I don't anymore...) without feeling any effects. I've also been taking gelcap D3 1000 IIU and my last vitamin D tests was still low. So I'm not absorbing anything. Granted, I have...
  15. Have you ever tried Lush? I'm not normally one to buy a bunch of 'girly' stuff but I have been converted by their products. I exclusively use their products for my face and hair now. The only moisturizer that helped at all with my dry skin is there Celestial moisturizer. I use it on my dry patches and then Imperialis on the rest of my face.
  16. I know I've read of a few people having the same problems. I'm still in pre-diagnosis but two of my symptoms are scalp and face issues. My scalp started breaking out about a year ago. I didn't think much of it because it went away when I started using dandruff shampoo. A few months later it was back with a vengeance. My flakes are kicked up a notch.....
  17. I dunno....I only have 8 left. That's not very many.
  18. I made these: Open Original Shared Link yesterday. I know they are pretty basic but man, are they good! I put them in a muffin tin with cupcake liners and I only made half a recipe (regretting that now...). They are so good. I just had my mid-morning snack of two muffins with some Justin's Maple Almond Butter. Seriously, the almond butter took them over...
  19. You sound a lot like me. =c) I've been vitamin D deficient even taking 1,000 IUs daily for months. The assumption is that my anemia comes from thalassemia (small red blood cells). I haven't had my B12 tested, that I remember. I can, however, take mega doses of B vitamins without feeling any energy increase. Some people do have chronic sinus infections...
  20. I wouldn't say it is too demanding. I almost see it as human nature not to be a serious about something if you only think you have it. Where you gluten free-ish when they did the testing initially (if it's in another post I didn't see it...)? If you were that may have caused a false positive. From what I've read you can go full gluten for a few months and...
  21. Yes, you do need to stay on gluten until you get tested. I crave sugar all the time, too. I eat candy like a 6 year old set free in a candy store would. You may want to have your A1C checked for blood sugar issues. It's entirely possible you are hypoglycemic (essentially your body overreacts to sugar and produces too much insulin). I was that way for years...
  22. Having those kinds of attacks are HORRIBLE. I have had something similar. For a few weeks after I would eat lunch (normally a bread filled meal) I would start to get brain fog and have this tingly/warm feeling in my arms and legs. Not long after my vision would change; everything would get really far away and blurry. The same far off feeling would happen...
  23. I'm new to the Gluten Intolerance/Celiac thing. But when I read you're post, I have a few of your symptoms which are related to my Sjogren's Syndrome. Have you talked to anyone about a possible autoimmune disorder (outside of Celiac)? My 'journey' started in Feb. 2012. My health was just fine outside of morbid obesity. I completed two 3 month rounds of...
  24. Thanks so much for the support! I hadn't considered going to liquid vitamins, but I will give it a try. It makes sense that I can take so much in pill form and not see results in blood work or feel much of a difference with the B vitamins if my absorption is off. I'll definitely keep this post updated with results.
  25. Found the site doing Celiac/Gluten Intolerance research today. So glad I found it! A little background. I'm 29 yrs old, I've had bathroom issues off and on since I was at least in high school. I can remember preempting most school days with an Imodium. Over the years I have had some issues, but nothing major. That's all changed now though. I was...
