Hello, I’m trying to determine if Weber products grill spray is safe or not. Most Weber products say gluten free. This one does not but it doesn’t seem to have any gluten containing ingredients. I called the company today and they said they do not test for it. The agent couldn’t tell me if any of the ingredients contained gluten just that they do not test ...

I didn't say they had to bring anything. I said I would cook it all.

I have Celiac Disease and decided to make my home a completely gluten-free zone. Most of my friends and family understand and comply. However, I am having some friends over tonight and told them to "please use caution and don't bring gluten into my home. It's the only place I can feel safe". I've been told this is too restrictive, that it's unwelcoming...

ARCHIVED Store-Cut Pineapple
veryami1 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anyone ever asked a grocery store how they cut their freshly cut fruit? Just had a reaction and I don't know to what - but I did have pineapple from the grocery store that was precut and sold in a plastic container. Any chance that could be it? -
Low Ferritin
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks all! I guess it sounds like I just need to have some patience and faith that going gluten-free and taking supplements will help. I'm not dangerously low, I don't think (Ferritin = 19) but the lightheaded symptoms scare me. I was reading about getting iron intravenously, but it sounds like I'm not at that point yet. Husband and I are talking having... -
Hi! I had my ferritin tested for the first time recently and although I fell in the "normal" range, I was at the VERY low end of normal and not anywhere close to optimal. i've been struggling for years with shortness of breath, fatigue, irritability, and lightheadedness, so this discovery makes perfect sense to me. My doctor suggested I take iron supplements...

ARCHIVED Frustrated /possible Other Sensitivities

So I've been gluten free for over three months now.You would think it would be getting easier, with fewer glutening incidences, but not the case for me. Short of locking myself in the house and never eating out, is there any option? I'm thinking I haven't been as strict as I need to be, because I am getting sick once a week, if not more. When I do eat out... -
ARCHIVED Trip Insurance - Cancelled Midtrip
veryami1 posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi! Need your thoughts on this. Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post it, so if I'm wrong, let me know and I will post it on the right forum. Hubby and I booked a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula before I got my Celiac diagnosis. Once diagnosed, we contacted the hotel who assured us our all-inclusive resort would be able to feed me (gluten-free... -
Tonight we are having a get together at our house. I thought it'd be easier to have it at my house, since I know everything is celiac-friendly. We're doing snacks only, the get-together is post dinner, but I am serving light snacks and told my friends to bring something they wanted to share. Well one girl is making a dessert. She said she tried to find...

ARCHIVED I Was Doing Well, Then...
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks! I think I will steer clear of the Oats, as I am guessing that is the problem. I've never noticed a problem with the kimchi, but I do notice in high doses, the MSG gives me diarrhea, but usually it's instaneous. Do you think your problem with MSG is celiac, or is it a different intolerance altogether? I think there was a lot of stuff going on this... -
So I've been gluten free for two months, and finally started to see my stomach symptoms abading. This last week, I was on a THREE week no diarrhea streak, so I thought I finally got my situation together. Then BAM, last night I got sick. My husband tells me that sometimes people just get an upset stomach, and it might not have anything to do with celiac...

ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought I'd let you guys know the dinner went great! It was last night. I don't feel like I've been glutened, and I'm hoping it stays that way. She had lots of gluten-free options, including a cucumber salad, delicious oven roasted veggies, and a rosemary chicken. I obstained from eating the soup, and I brought my own crackers. She also prepared gluten... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed, Now Do I Worry About Other Stuff?
veryami1 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed with Celiac about a month ago via blood work only. I've been reading up a lot on recovery and getting a bit concerned about healing. I have scheduled follow up blood work for about 3 months from now and the doctor will review at that point. I'm also meeting with a nutritionist next week. I'm still getting bouts of diarrhea about once a... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms But Eating gluten-free
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had another issue this week, thought I was eating gluten-free 100% and again, diarrhea hit. How am I to know if I got CC, or if it's just healing? When am I going to stop having the weekly bouts of the D? Does anyone understand the actual biology of being glutened? Is it just the antibodies coming on full storm once the gluten hits your intestines... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, no update yet! The dinner is a few nights away. I will say that she texted to tell me she's making a gluten free dessert and she'll have recipes on hand for me to peruse the night of. So maybe I overreacted, and it'll be okay after all.... -
So it finally hit me last night. My husband got home from work and was asking about dinner. I didn't feel like eating. He reheated chicken and I just watched him eat. Then the tears came. I've only cried happy tears over my diagnosis (being happy that I finally had a solution), but this was the first time it really hit me. I have Celiac disease. This...

ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No response! but I decided I don't care, I'll bring my own food and if she has a problem, I can leave. I realized that I was anticipating the fight more than worrying about her actual response - and I can't stress out over it anymore. I'll find out next week how it goes - it's a delayed passover dinner. Part of me wants a fight anyways because I'm pretty... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, I don't expect her to cook for me special. I wouldn't ask and I wouldn't assume either. If she offered, great, but I think its unfair to ask. I do think she will be offended that I bring my own food. If so, it'll be a good opportunity to educate her as well as distance myself from the friendship. I'm starting to think anyone dismissive of real... -

My situation just gets worse! So I talked to the host of the passover dinner I'm invited to to try to find out what she's cooking. She very dismissively said Brisket and Chicken. When I asked for more info, she said rosemary chicken, and brisket in the lipton onion dip seasoning. She said both sounded gluten free to her. I looked, and the lipton seasoning... -
I haven't been gluten-free/Celiac diagnosed for very long, so I might not be the best person to respond, but I think it's great that your coworkers are so accomodating! I wouldn't feel guilty, I'd feel blessed You're lucky to have that, as so many people don't have people who are sensitive to their needs at all. My "best friend" is being extremely dismissive...

ARCHIVED Symptoms But Eating gluten-free
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone! I'm sure it was the Flame Broiler! However, I realized the new potpouri we bought for the house was making my nose run like crazy, so that was to blame for the nose reaction. Is anyone else like me, crazy sensitive to EVERYTHING? It's a wonder I'm alive at all! I guess no more Flame Broiler. I thought I was being smart and altering... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms But Eating gluten-free
veryami1 replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So my symptoms continue to change. Last night I had a terribly runny nose - I thought I had a cold all of a sudden. Really sore throat too. This morning the runny nose has abated but I have tiny itchy red bumps around my neck. I am diagnosed Celiac AND wheat allergy. Do you think it sounds like I was glutened? -
Hi, So I've been doing really with my Celiac, I've been gluten free for over a month and starting to feel better already! However, today I have cramps, slightly looser stools, and the lightheadedness I was getting before I went gluten-free. I'm guessing I must have had something accidentally. I can't think of anything, except I did eat out at Flame Broiler...

ARCHIVED How To Deal With Unsupportive Family Members/friends?
veryami1 replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It sounds like she just doesn't take your celiac seriously. Maybe take her to your next doctors appointment, and have them explain it. Maybe coming from a professional, she'll be more likely to "get it". good luck! -
