ARCHIVED Explaining Gf As Lifestyle Choice.
Rusla replied to dogear's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Perhaps you don't realize that some of us don't know whether we are or not and some have hand false negatives. Some don't show on a blood test and have to wait for other test. Many have the same symptoms as Celiac and are trying to figure it out. Some people can't see specialists because of extreme waiting lists or some specialists won't see them if a blood... -
ARCHIVED Is Chilldren's Tylenol Gluten Free?
Rusla replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just a note on Tylenol in general. That drug never leaves your liver, so over the years tylenol can build up in peoples livers and if anyone is a heavy user of it beware. It will eventually explode the liver. I say this because I know not only many people who constantly use it all the time but feed it to their kids on a regular basis. -

ARCHIVED Who's Doing Blood Type Diet With Gf?
Rusla replied to GC1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you don't have a problem with chicken then do it and if you are not into yogurt don't do it. I pick what I want because I do not eat Mackeral, I will not give up my halibut when it is in season and I still love my shrimps and chicken when I have them. I eliminate the wheats and glutens and kill off the tomato sauce. I would eliminate those which you know... -
ARCHIVED I Won A Trip To Jamaica And I Am Not Going
Rusla replied to paw's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would have taken the trip. On the Caribbean Islands a lot of their main staples are black beans and rice, seafood and chicken. I would never give up the trip. They have plenty of fruit too. -
From what I understand, even french fries are safe, unless they are totally done in a separate fryer that has never had anything glutenous in it etc. I am not diagnosed celiac, yet. However, I have the pains in the stomach and abdomin and some other nasty things. I didn't know when I had the blood test that I had to not be gluten free until after I had the...

ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Poop For A Minute.
Rusla replied to frenchiemama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Then we will need a pretty big bathroom. Forgot. When I was having serious surgery and was in the hospital three months the nurses would come in to drain things etc. I would crack jokes even in extreme pain. The nurse said to me I never lost my sense of humour in spite of the horrible pain. I told her I had a choice; I could cry 24 hours a day or I... -

Karen, They say Prep H is good for all facial wrinkles too. Now, on the other subject for all of my adult life I have had the problems of when you gotta go, be there now, or when I eat, especially glutenous things I have ten min to find the bathroom. Tired of the pains and jumping up in the middle of the night or 5 times a day, like today. Worrying... -

ARCHIVED Flu Shots
Rusla replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am in western Canda too. I don't know but I know some have dairy in them which is equally as as bad. I ask every year what the fillers and base are, I won't take them again. That year there were other people who had reactions to that vaccine and they also had wheat and gluten sensitivities. I don't know maybe it was a bad batch but I made sure I ask from... -
ARCHIVED Missing My Italian Food!
Rusla replied to jrom987's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are rice pasta lasagne noodles out there, I have used them. I have a pesto lasagne recipe to die for, it contains no meat but you use tofu and I put mushrooms in it, sometimes I put in shrimps, instead of tomato sauce I use pesto sauce and no one even knows tofu is in until I tell them. -
ARCHIVED Response From Parmalat Canada
Rusla replied to Felidae's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I don't know how many of you know about Tofutti brand products butthey are totally dairy and lactose free. I have emaild them as to what of their products have gluten in them. So far from their site it appears that all entree's, and cakes and cookies do. Their hard cheeses don't seem to have casein in them which would be just grand. I am waiting for their... -
ARCHIVED Flu Shots
Rusla replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In Canada, you do not get to read flu serum packages you have to haave doctor or nurse at a health clinic administer them to you. I had the flu shot once because I am severe asthmatic. The next time the serum changed and it was a wheat/egg base and I was sick for months and my arm swelled up, was red and itched the whole time. I would ask your doctor or... -
ARCHIVED Who's Doing Blood Type Diet With Gf?
Rusla replied to GC1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Genetic make-up, digestion and general population that Dr D'Adamo studied play a big roll in this. When I was on it I never broke out in blisters on my face, my hair and skin were never better, my stomach didn't burn, I lost weight and I ate gluten free bagels. I felt great and I did not eat any wheats or gluten. I kept to the rice pasta and used pesto sauce... -
ARCHIVED Test Results Are In
Rusla replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The problem here is I had a GI 5 years ago who only wanted to do bone marrow tests,he refused back then to believe my thyroid and pernicious anemia were a problem when they did show up in tests, he dumped me and made sure no other GI would see me in the city. My doctor tried to find me another GI but none would see me. When the thyroid showed nodules in my... -

My favorite of the Envirokids is the Gorilla Puffs or whatever they are called. They have the gorrilla on the front and I love them and no problems with them either. I often just eat them out of the box. -

Rusla replied to Rusla's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I never equated the eggs in there. I do have egg problems, I can't eat them when I am depressed because by the time I am finished eating them I want to jump off a bridge, that usually applies to soft boiled or poached ones. I can't have any medications with dairy or eggs in them such a s flu shots, I am sick and swollen for weeks. Thanks for reminding me... -
ARCHIVED I Started The Gf Diet
Rusla replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First, on the jerky matter. I use a food dehydrator and make turkey jerky, you can make beef jerky in them. I have a special recipe for the jerky which is so much better than any that is store bought. Now excuse my ignorance on being "glutened" I am still not sure where I fit in this with wheat allergies and high gluten intolerance. However, the question... -

I have events I have to be at this weekend and it is too late to get the menu changed. So I will...

ARCHIVED Cd And Gluten Intolerant People In Calgary, Ab
Rusla replied to Rusla's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks, Yes, there are numerous things I have to watch out for besides gluten and one is msg. It was the Swiss Chalet and Moxies where the only thing I could have was steamed vegetables and it was just noodles at Lucianos. I shall give the association a shot also. Yes, I am sure your son does not want to hang out with what he would consider a group...
