Hello, @Itsabit, Your journey sounds very similar to mine. I'm very concerned about your diet since you say you don't eat a lot of meat, which is the main source of B vitamins. Nutritional deficiencies go along with Celiac Disease. Blood tests are not accurate measurements of deficiency states. The body robs stored vitamins from organs to circulate...

Hello, @Jack Common, I know how frustrating health mysteries can be. Perhaps you're having a reaction to the medication you were given for the giardiasis you mentioned in another post. The giardiasis infection would account for the high Igg results. Have you been reinfected? The site I've linked below has lots of information about the long...

Abscesses on legs
knitty kitty replied to LookingForAnswers101's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum, @LookingForAnswers101, I had similar experiences with boil outbreaks in the same areas. Mine was caused by Candida Albicans and eating a diet too high in sugar and simple carbohydrates. Candida is a yeast infection, so the antibacterial wash is not going to help. I had to change my diet to a Paleo diet before it went away... -
@meghanf, If they are not showing symptoms of Celiac Disease, please, don't expose them to gluten. If your daughters have been gluten free all this time, keeping them gluten free now is the best way to prevent them from developing Celiac Disease in the future. Have a genetic test done to see if they carry any known genes for Celiac Disease...

Welcome to the forum, @JuggaloDad, Kudos to you for being such a concerned parent! Gluten can attach to opioid receptors throughout the human body, including the brain. Gluten in the brain can be attacked by tTg 6 antibodies. This inflammation can cause ataxia. TTg 6 antibodies are also found in diseases involving ataxia such as Alzheimer's and...

Hello, @Kwinkle, How are you doing? Have you tried adding a Magnesium supplement? The B Complex vitamins need magnesium to work properly, especially thiamine vitamin B 1. Magnesium deficiency symptoms and Thiamine deficiency symptoms both include gas and bloating. Thiamine deficiency symptoms also include loss of appetite and fatigue...

If you have poor reactions to vaccines, preservatives, sugar alcohols and metals, you may be deficient in Thiamine Vitamin B1. Thiamine is needed in the immune response and production of antibodies. Thiamine can be depleted by vaccines if you are already low to begin with due to the Malabsorption of Celiac Disease. Thiamine can be destroyed by sulfide...

@Pasballard, Keep in mind those gluten free processed snacks are not required to have vitamins and minerals added to them to replace vitamins lost in processing like gluten containing products. We need the eight essential B vitamins to turn those carbs into energy to fuel our bodies and make enzymes that sustain life. Sudden weight gain (or weight...

Welcome to the forum, @WildFlower1, Here's an article that explains about the updated gluten challenge guidelines. Be sure to read the comments below the article. Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies? Low iron can affect antibody production, causing false negatives on antibody testing. Do you currently struggle with low iron? ...

Anyone else with very high HDL?
knitty kitty replied to plumbago's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, @plumbago, Curiouser, and curioser... Have you been fasting? Apparently HDL levels increase after fasting... https://ajcn.nutrition.org/article/S0002-9165(23)31185-7/abstract I must say it, try taking some Thiamine. Thiamine helps regulate lipoproteins... Anyone else with very high HDL?
knitty kitty replied to plumbago's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@plumbago, Are you taking any folate with your B12? Folate helps regulate HDL levels. You may try taking a methylfolate supplement with your B12. If there's a folate deficiency because you aren't absorbing sufficient folate, or have the MThF mutation causing a functional folate deficiency (methylfolate trap), you can have a functional B12 deficiency...- 12 replies

@Manaan2, I was on Miralax for several months after I crushed three vertebrae and fractured my hip. The compression fractures of my vertebrae affected the Vagus nerve that stimulates digestion and intestinal movement, peristalsis. Miralax just didn't relieve the constipation I was experiencing at all. Nothing budged. I tried Milk of Magnesia...

@Manaan2, I'm so happy to hear you're going to try thiamine and magnesium! Do let us know the results! You may want to add a B 50 Complex with two meals of the day to help boost absorption. Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins which are all water soluble. When supplementing magnesium, make sure to get sufficient calcium...
-
@Manaan2, You may want to consider switching from Miralax (polyethylene glycol) to magnesium citrate and Thiamine supplements. When I was prescribed Miralax for constipation, I developed worsened gastrointestinal problems, including worsening leaky gut syndrome. Since polyethylene glycol is a synthetic chemical made from petroleum or coal byproducts...

Testing for celiac
knitty kitty replied to Bebee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum, @Bebee, Yes, Celiac Disease has genetic commonalities with MS, hypothyroidism, arthritis, Reynaud, and rosacea. Usually a gluten challenge is done before endoscopy with biopsies taken, however I would not recommend a gluten challenge before endoscopy with biopsies for you since you have been gluten free for so long and have... -
Yes, some people with Celiac do react to quinoa. I know i do. Apparently, two different "breeds" of quinoa can stimulate the immune system. Read here... Hi, @Richardo, Welcome to the forum! Good suggestions, although we are aware here that oats, corn and rice can cause problems for some because their proteins have segments that resemble segments of the gluten protein. What I find most helpful for my dermatitis herpetiformis flares is to increase Niacin Vitamin B 3 and Thiamine Vitamin...

Top Brands of Gluten-Free Mayonnaise
knitty kitty commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
@Kate Murray, I sympathise wholeheartedly. I was as sensitive as you describe your daughter to be. I found the Autoimmune Protocol Diet most helpful. The Autoimmune Protocol diet (AIP diet) was designed by a doctor, Dr. Sarah Ballentyne, a Celiac herself. The Low Histamine AIP diet really helped improve my gut health. Foods that are difficult...- 20 comments

Top Brands of Gluten-Free Mayonnaise
knitty kitty commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
@Kate Murray, What did the doctors prescribe for your daughter's elevated tryptase? Antihistamines? Steroids? Is your daughter following a low histamine diet like the Autoimmune Protocol diet (Dr. Sarah Ballantyne)? Does she still eat processed foods? Dairy?- 20 comments

Top Brands of Gluten-Free Mayonnaise
knitty kitty commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
@Kate Murray, Has your daughter been checked for nutritional deficiencies? Low Vitamin D and low Thiamine can contribute to MCAS. Vitamin D levels should be between 70 and100 ng/mL . Is she following a low histamine diet? https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10672129/ P.S. Can you share with us the "hidden gluten" sources...- 20 comments

Top Brands of Gluten-Free Mayonnaise
knitty kitty commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
Mayonnaise is high in Histamine. Histamine Intolerance (HIT) frequently occurs in Celiac Disease. Histamine release is part of the immune response in Celiac Disease or any infection. Histamine Intolerance has symptoms similar to being glutened. Histamine Intolerance occurs when our bodies become overwhelmed by histamine. Our body makes histamine...- 20 comments

Still unsure.....
knitty kitty replied to badastronaut's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello, @badastronaut, I reread your last post on your previous thread... "Had some new bloodworks and an echo done because I still have problems with my stomach. According to my latest bloodworks I'm still negative for celiac and still low on zinc (even after supplementing it for quite a long time), I'm low on folic acid now too and my bilirubin... -
Hi, @Sicilygirl, I had lost a great amount of weight, felt depressed, and had no appetite early on. I found that taking Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine extremely helpful. Doctors routinely check B12 and Vitamin D, but they fail to test for deficiencies in other B vitamins like Thiamine, because blood tests for other vitamins are not accurate...
