  1. I had a stone that blocked my salivary gland for alsmost 10 years before being diagnosed. There is a test that they can do. It kept getting bigger and I had more and more infections. It got to the point where I had to have my salivary gland removed. The stone was an inch long. I, too, have celiac but am not sure of the correlation. I do not have Sjoren...
  2. I, too, had a lot of neurological problems before being diagnosed with Celiac. The vitamin B-12 shots have helped immensely. However, if you don't catch it in time, those neurological problems can be permanent. Ask his doctor if there is something he can take to minimize the symptoms. There are medications out there that can help.
  3. Some of the Zone bars are gluten-free. I would call the company for an update on which ones. Personally. I eat the Fudge Graham which they say are gluten-free. They are great.
  4. I have to say that I, too, have always had long eyelashes. After going gluten-free, did that change for anyone? I hope not!
  5. Thank you! I love M&M's!
  6. There is a brand called "Michael Season's" out now with the BEST cheetohs. I think they are better than the regular ones. Their website is www.seasonssnacks.com and they are called lite cheese puffs. They state that they are gluten-free right on the package.
  7. Be careful with M&M's. I heard they just came off the gluten-free list.
  8. I would definitely get checked. Heartburn was my only symptom when I went to the gastroenterologist. Luckily, he did an endoscopy and checked for celiac. And that was what I had!
  9. Hi, I don't know if it is the same thing I had or not, but right after being diagnosed I started having burning in my right arm and right leg and on my back. It turned out to be a Vitamin B deficiency. My Vitamin B levels in my blood were normal, but your blood keeps your blood levels normal, so don't let the doctor say that is not it. I have been on...
  10. I found that some of the Zone bars are gluten-free. I called the company and they said my favorite, Fudge Graham, is gluten-free. It is odd because I know that we can't have graham, but they assured me there was no graham in it. There were several others that were gluten-free as well.
  11. I might be mistaken, but doesn't Tylenol contain gluten? I know Advil is O.K..
  12. Thanks so much for letting us know about this place. I live in Northville, MI and am going to go there this week!
  13. I just want to say that everyone that has any kind of condition always assumes that there is a cover up at the pharmaceutical companies. I just want to say, as a scientist at a drug company, who also has Celiac, we all have mothers and fathers and sisters, too and a lot of them have diseases that we would love to be able to cure.
  14. I have been getting Vitamin B-12 shots every week for the past 5 weeks. I have a lot of improvement, but still have some symptoms from the deficiency. My best friend is an internist and said you will not see complete improvement for probably 3-6 months. So, hang in there! Also, can you have a nurse or someone in your area give you the shots? You would...
  15. This is so interesting. Can you tell me if you would know for sure if you are deficient in magnesium from blood levels? Or is it similiar to calcium or vitamin B where your blood levels are o.k. but your body is actually "leaching" it from other body systems?
  16. I am a newly dx celiac and I started having a lot of neurological symptoms. Vitamin B-12 deficiency can mimic MS symptoms. Because you are not absorbing well before diagnosis, it is common for celiacs to be deficient. My vitamin B-12 blood levels were normal, but the doctor still thinks I am deficient on B-12. Your body can "leach" the B-12 from your body...
  17. I would ask my internist or family practioner. I know you are limited by your HMO, but I would go to as many different doctors as I had to in order to get the answers you need.
  18. My doctor said that it does not necessarily show up in your blood levels but you can still be deficient. A vitamin B-12 shot cannot hurt you so it's worth a try to see if it helps your symptoms.
  19. I had everything from stinging on my skin, burning on my legs and arms, eye twitching, muscle twitching, itching, tingling in my feet and hands, muscle weakness and my eyes were burning and itching. Almost immediately after my B-12 shot, the symtoms started to subside. I hope this helps!
  20. I am taking B-12 by Country Life and they say on the label they are gluten-free. Right now I am taking 3000 mcg sublingually (under the tongue for better absorption). I am taking a high dose, because I, too, have neurological symptoms. It has helped immensely. You can't take too much Vitamin B-12. You will just pee out the extra. (not the case with all...
  21. I am a newly dx celiac and have been gluten free for about 2 months. I started having all kinds of neurological symptoms that were very scary. It turns out that I am very deficient in Vitamin B-12. (I probably have been for quite some time) B-12 is difficult to absorb and especially so in a celiac. I have been taking them sublingually (under the tongue...
