  1. Yeah, I passed out at the mall 20 minutes after having a "gluten free sucks, forget this!" bowl of pasta after being gluten-free for nearly a month. That was in Nov 2005. That was bad. I was in the hospital when I woke up! I hope you are feeling better!
  2. I have also read that, with the info from my Lame Advertisement test, that some intolerances will go away because some of them are caused by eating too much of the given food, and that causes the body to become less able to digest and breakdown these foods. But, I do not believe that is that case for all of them, as some of mine are foods that I hate (go...
  3. The Lame Advertisement test works differently, but I understand what you are saying. I was tested for 350 foods (I think) for less than 400.00. I am not sure how the process is different, but Lame Advertisement talks about ELISA and the differences, so I know that it is not the same test. Anyway, good luck with the elimination diet! It is good that you have...
  4. I HAVE to plug the Lame Advertisement test. I didn't even know what an intolerance was before I got severe GERD. My doc recommended avoiding tomatoes and spices, but I have always eaten those things, so it made NO sense to me to avoid them. How can something you have ALWAYS eaten just start causing problems all of a sudden? I read an article in Figure...
  5. Hey all, just checked on the time in my neck of the woods, and the summary says this (on tvguide.com site) "A mother almost drowns her newborn son when she has a seizure while bathing him, but that's not what's causing his serious illness. And the mother's "seizure" turns out not to be a seizure at all. Meanwhile, Chase begins working in the Neonatal...
  6. Soy (like soy flour or soy beans) is ok. But soy sauce has wheat in it (maybe someone else on here knows why, I don't!) so not regular soy sauce. But they do make a gluten-free soy sauce. And sushi sould be ok as long as you don't get the kind of rolls with the fried shrimp. I got food poisoning from shushi, so I haven't had it in a LONG time, but from what...
  7. I, too, do not want to start a debate, but I was a vegan for 2 years because I didn't like the way animals were killed or the things they were injected with. I have since gotten over that (I am NOT saying that you should "get over it", just saying that I was slowly less and less disgusted by it). I would think that if you didn't eat meat for reasons like...
  8. Ditto (to the welcome!) and ditto to the kinickiknick (sp?)! They are wonderful! A life saver! I hope you are able to adjust well! I, too, LOVED those chips ahoys, and could eat a sleeve in one sitting! But I have found gluten-free brownies that are better! LOL. Tiff
  9. Ah! I didn't know about the other disease! I see. Thanks for the info! Karen, my prayers are with you! You are a mighty strong woman! -Tiff
  10. Hey Karen, maybe I am in the dark here, but why were you having the tests done? Are you still having problems after going gluten-free? I hope things get better for you!!! I am glad that the doc didn't find anything too serious!
  11. I would guess that there is damage from eating the gluten-filled foods for 3 months, but that you can STOP the damage, and LET YOUR BODY HEAL by cutting out the gluten. You don't have to have time to cook to be gluten-free. There are Thai bowls that you just add hot water to them and you have a meal. And there is always salad, meats, veggies, fruits. You...
  12. Oops! Sorry about that! LOL I was trying to type and remember fast! LOL And that is neato!!! Where do you live? Just wondering where that show is shot. I thought it was in Canada.
  13. Sure! It was weird! A cop was acting high while arresting a thug, and the thug shot him, but the bullet hit his badge ( I think ) and deflected to his temple (so the shot didn't kill him) and he was laying on the ground laughing histaricly (sp?). House didnt see why he would be laughing like that, so he sent the three muskateer's to work. Forman checked out...
  14. You know, that makes sense. Peroxide kills germs, so perhaps they think that it will kill germs on your face(?) or in the lotion bottle so it won't go bad.....but still, the bleaching effect, it made me worry! But the germ thing makes sense. My derm gave me an Rx for Clindagel, a topical acne gel, that is an antibiotic. She wanted to see if it was a germ...
  15. I don't know that I would have put it like that, but I think I know what you mean. I feel like I am preggers with triplets, and they are all kicking my intestings (like, I hear noises, and I "feel" the D moving quickly.....ew, that was gross.....um.....I don't know how else to put it!) I didn't think about it feeling like everything "drops two inches" until...
  16. If you have time to look for them, I love the Fruit Leather fruit-roll-up-like snacks! And EnerG crackers are the closest to saltines that I have been able to find. I love them with peanut butter! Maybe you could put p-nut butter on one, and smush another on top, and then you have it in a baggie for the trip! I also eat planters nuts (in the travel "tube...
  17. I am sorry, can you please explain what you mean by this? What do you define as "proper testing"? And if someone wants to know, for themselves, how they react to gluten when it is re-introduced, why does that bother you? What progress are they stopping? And a side note, you wrote you did a "doctor ordered" challenge. I just want to add that my doctor...
  18. Nope. Not at all. My uncles doc even told him "yup, you have celiac, but as long as you don't get sick, don't worry about it" so my gluten-free diet makes no sense to him! He is like "I have that too, but I don't have to eat like you"..........Maybe your family will be different..............
  19. Ditto. When I thought "to hell with this" and ate a bowl of pasta, I passed out 30 min later and was in the ER when I woke up. My intestines had shut down. I learned my lesson! Now I fill my house with gluten free everything. Snacks, breads, desserts, and I DON"T have to think before I eat! I just see something good, and I eat it! The key is to eliminate...
  20. I dine there ALL the time, and if you read the fine print on the gluten-free menu, its says that all dressing are gluten-free except the bleu cheese and the mustard vinaigrette. (Just ate there tonight, and brought home the gluten-free menu, lists those two as NOT gluten-free!!)
  21. Me? Yes, my intestines shut down. It was nasty.
  22. I used it a couple of years ago. It worked....but I got freaked out when I got some on my jeans and it (the moisturizer) bleached my jeans!!!! I didn't want to put anything on my face that bleached my jeans!!!! But it did work.
  23. Ditto! If I eat something with gluten in it (like hidden gluten in a sauce) when eating out, then I ususally don't get out of the place before going to the bathroom with D. It is within 20 min that I have D. And the depression and brain fog starts within 4-6 hours, ususally with a migrane. I have the D for about a day, maybe two (I just figured it I have...
  24. Ok, but it might be a while, because I am my husband overseas so I don't have anyone to bake for! Maybe I will make a pie for me! LOL. Maybe I will do that tonight.....what should I put in it???? Cherry filling? I like cherries....is ther a gluten-free filling?
  25. FYI-I ask the deli to wipe down the machine before cutting my meat. They are very nice, and clean it for me. Maybe your store would do the same?
