Yes, while the ones in the USA are “questionable”, in Canada they are gluten free. If you watch the fry station they will see there is very little risk of cc, and if you are really worried, just state that you have an allergy and they are really good at changing gloves and making a fresh batch. It is my go-to for an easy meal out.

Yep- McDonald’s poutine is totally gluten free and very low risk for cc issues. Their fries and hash browns are also low risk and whenever I tell them I have an allergy they are always good about changing gloves- I may not trust them to make a bun less burger- but there fries station is a-ok in my book.

Hello! I will be traveling to New Orleans in September for a conference and have begun the final details of how I will survive. The hotel catering the even appears to be good and I have spoken to the catering manager, so I should be ok there. However, I have a couple of times where I will need to bring a meal with me, offsite but I don't think I will be able... -

I know it's tough, but this to will pass. I would stop making two different meals for suppers. It's easy to make convert most Supper recipes to gluten-free. Need to thicken something with flour? Use potato starch. Barilla gluten-free pasta is amazing. Learn how to make a quick cheese sauce. Use that or a white sauce whenever a recipe calls for a cream... -
I'll just leave this here: http://gluteninbeer.blogspot.ca/?m=1 The study OP originally posted didnt actually test the beer, it's just a theory based on the beer making process. Fermentation will destroy gluten if it's done properly and for long enough. The blog I posted here tests the beer, but who knows if it's consistent between...

I hope the OP is feeling better I have a couple of thoughts that haven't been mentioned yet. Have you been checked for a parasite? Especially being in Mexico.... If you are having stomach issues, and especially if you suspect SIBO, don't take pro/prebiotics. Your stomach bacteria is out of wack and growing in places it shouldn't be. Taking... -

Yes, I did mean endoscopy, not ultrasound - uggg! Well, got new test results back, and my AT IgA is now at 1.7 (>7 is questionable, >10 is danger). YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! Got a bunch of other bloodwork done, thyroid, liver, pancreas, Vitamins, etc... Everything was good other than Iron which was a bit low, and Vit D which was borderline (normal... -
ARCHIVED How to handle eight year old daughter pre-diagnosis
aliciahere replied to aliciahere's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So I'm going to post an update, just in case somebody comes upon this and wonders. My daughter did go for her endoscopy - clean. Some very minor inflammation on one sample but it was not significant enough, and they don't believe that celiac would be the cause. Ended up doing bloodwork for genetic testing. I don't have a copy of exactly what genes were tested... -
ARCHIVED Traveling in Japan - Kikkoman Inquiry
aliciahere posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I'm doing some long term planning for a trip to Japan in 2019. I am a diagnosed Celiac. I know how difficult it will be to find actual gluten free foods, however I am optimistic I heard a rumor that fermented soya sauce is actually gluten free. I emailed Kikkoman to find out their info and this is what they sent me: "To whom it may concern: ... -

Also make sure you are eating enough, including carbs! When we cut out gluten we often don't fully replace the calories we aren't eating. Put your diet into a calorie counter like cronometer.com and make sure your are eating balanced. -

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get full bloodwork done. Cbcd, vitamins, thyroid, etc. Thyroid in particular, it can do funny things with your heart if it's low or high. -
ARCHIVED Make-up
aliciahere replied to Rebecca47's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In Canada almost all Mary Kay products are gluten free and produced on their own lines. The only products that don't are the lengthening mascara and concealer. They are produced in the same building but the gluten ingredients are liquid based (so really unlikely to be airborn). I received this info from my rep (who is my cousin in law). I have not had any... -
ARCHIVED How to handle eight year old daughter pre-diagnosis
aliciahere replied to aliciahere's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanx for the replies everybody. I called but there are no cancellations. I would never give up Canadian health care, but sometimes the waiting lists leave something to be desired :/ She is doing much better on "reduced" gluten, making sure to eat at least some gluten every day. I do believe that I've figured out what her worst issue is. She would come home... -
I've seen lots of posts about the quaker rice cakes having gluten in them, but all of them seem to be several years old. Here in Canada they are now certified gluten free, but I'm wondering if people are still having issues with them, as I believe that I was glutenated by them (very slowly mind you). The only real change in my diet lately has been the addition...

ARCHIVED How to handle eight year old daughter pre-diagnosis

Hello Everybody! I was diagnosed just over a year ago through bloodwork. I had an endoscopy last summer that confirmed the diagnosis. After I was diagnosed with bloodwork, I had my two children tested and neither of them showed up with any markers for celiac. Fast forward to this winter. DD8 has been very tired, run down, moody, feels like she is getting... -

Hello! I have had an ultrasound done and also just received results from bloodwork 6 months after diagnosis. As soon as I received a diagnosis I immediately started a gluten-free and low dairy diet. I did not eat gluten before my ultrasound, and I was lucky that the results from it showed some atrophy and were consistent with "partially healed celiac... -

ARCHIVED Could This Be My "glutenated"
aliciahere posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ok, so I've been gluten free since a gluten challenge March/april. Bloidworked confirmed celiac. I Also have hashimotos. Three weeks ago I got a pain in my thyroid, swollen thyroid, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, major fatigue, almost like getting sick, but no coughing or runny nose. I went to the dr. He believed it was viral, but did run some bloodwork... -
ARCHIVED What To Do While Waiting For Endoscopy
aliciahere replied to aliciahere's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you raven, I really appreciate it. My body didn't really like the challenge. Even before, with being mostly gluten free I was starting to become anemic (though controllable through supplements). I hated being on the challenge. I became gassy, bloated, had trouble focusing, easily distracted, mood swings. I got asthma at night during my period (I... -
ARCHIVED What To Do While Waiting For Endoscopy
aliciahere replied to aliciahere's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hehehe, Kareng, that's funny - love it! I'm in Alberta and wait times for anything "not immediate life threatening" can take months and months, so I'm not surprised, but I will try to get in touch with them to see if it's true. I guess I also am worried about the possible increase in damage and impact to my health (either scenario). I do have some... -
ARCHIVED What To Do While Waiting For Endoscopy
aliciahere posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So now that I'm diagnosed celiac by bloodwork, I am waiting for the endoscopy. The Dr. indicated that it could be "months and months" until mine is scheduled. Do I clear out my kitchen now, only to have it glutenated when I have to gluten challenge prior to the endoscopy? I'm thinking no, but I would love to get other opinions and to see what other people... -
ARCHIVED Am I Crazy, Sorry For The Long Post....
aliciahere replied to aliciahere's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yay!!! I'm not crazy! I didn't think I would be happy to be diagnosed with something, but it's been confirmed that I'm celiac. My IgA came back after only a six week challenge at 15, so confirmed. I won't have a scope/biopsy for months though. I think I may need to get a new Dr. though. As I was discussing how worried I was about how I appear to have... -
ARCHIVED Do Your Pets Eat Gluten Free?
aliciahere replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
After researching it a lot, I switched my cat over to raw food. I was able to find one that cost the same as the pricy gluten free kibble I was feeding her. There are a lot of health benefits to feeding your animals raw food.
