  1. Breakfast: Plain Yogurt with sugar and small cup of tea Lunch: Can of Tuna with Carrot sticks Dinner: Two pieces of chicken with rice Snack: One small rice pudding from Kozy Shak Less than 1,000 calories per day. Anything more makes me feel super sick and I would rather be thin than fat.
  2. I wanted to know for how long before one gets their blood tested or their small bowel biopsied (after having a diagnosis and going gluten free) does one need to eat gluten FILLED foods for any changes to appear on the blood work and biopsy?
  3. How soon after your diagnosis did you have an endoscopy? My doctor wants me to have one, It has been 3 months since Dx and I still have some symptoms. Thank you.

  6. I am finding this to be a VERY interesting topic as I am South Asian and everyone that has gotten tested in my family is negative for it.
  7. Yes I had the blood tests and endoscoy confirming Celiac. In fact, this was the last test they ran on me after repeatedly telling me "all tests are normal. we cannot find anything". Unbeleiveable. I go back for more blood work next week and then an endocopsy followup again soon.
  8. It is normal. I have a lot of bone pain as well. And the muscles in the backs of my legs are often sore. This is a daily thing. It is hard but things will get better. Give it time.
  9. I called my doctor today bevause I have nt been feeling well and he seemed to think it was not a good sign that I still have symptoms. It is been about 3 months How long did it take you?
  10. Does anyone know if Lifesavers, Fruity Certs, or Tic Tacs (all flavors) are gluten free? I tried to locate the information on their websites and have had no such luck. Thank you.
  11. I cannot eat potatoes or eggs. I get really bad pains and they just "feel heavy" in my stomach. I am also just about done with eating bananas. I can eat rice, which is good and rice pasta. I like quinoa because of its lightness. I am tending to eat lots of veggies, fresh and frozen and fresh fruit. I like Kozy Shak pudding a lot They come in small manageable...
  12. You should call your doctor in the a.m. and ask him/her what they mean. He/she woud know best what it means in relation to your overall health.
  13. These comments are making me laugh.. What I have also done is bring extra food, sometimes, like gluten free cookies or gluten free cereal to work when I feel like snacking.. Sometimes I share a cookie with others who take a bite - often hesistantly - and say "OH! This is good. It is sweet".. DUH. It is a cookie just made with flour that is not wheat.....
  14. When some asks why I cannot eat such and such my reply is "I have a disease"... That shuts them up real fast because a) the statement is direct and true and they are usually too embarrassed to ask WHAT the disease is.. could be anything.. they have no idea and really it is NONE of their business. After reading these posts, it is reminding me of just how...
  15. I wanted to know if since being diagnosed if anyone has had to be hospitalized for celiac sprue? I know it may sound like a crazy question but I was curious about this, for dehydration, etc? Thanks

  18. How does one know if they allergic to potato, banana, tomato, rice -- apart from feeling sick after, I am hearing a lot about how if you have sprue you could have other food intolerances as well.. How does one find out about other food intolerances.. are there specific tests for this? I am new to sprue and food intolerance issues. Please help! Thank you
  19. I have had D as a symptom. It is horrible! Sometimes you have to get worse before you get better .. I think... this is what I am learning because otherwise I will drive myself crazy thinking I have refractory sprue My diet is very limited right now - plain chicken, boiled potato, banana and some pedialtye electrolyte.
  20. I had both my endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time. I was OUT. They gave me versed and demerol. I remember NOTHING about the procedure.. thank goodness.. but I did have a sore throat and some abdominal pain after.
  21. I initially had been getting better but this past week has been horrendous with n, v, d.. same symptoms all over again. I have been very careful. Maybe Pauline is right - you have to get better before you get worse? Anyway, it cannot be any worse than what it was in the past, right? I mean, now you know what you have and you can go from there...
  22. I was wondering why potatoes and tomatoes and bananas and rice can be considered allergens? How does one get tested for other food allergies besides gluten? I am new to this disease and food intolerances so any advice would be appreciated! Thank you
  23. I was diagnosed with sprue last November. Initially, I started to get better but then this past week has been horrible with nauseau, vomiting, diarrhea and sever abdominal pain. I am starting to panic that this means I have refractory sprue versus inflammation of my small intestine Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  25. I have been on the gluten-free diet now for about 2 months. For the past two weeks, whenever I eat I get SEVERE pains in my stomach/small intestine followed by nausea. It is awful and makes me NOT want to eat. I know that I have been losing weight as well and this has been of concern to me. I have a m.d. appointment tomorrow. I wanted to know if anyone had...
