Kept the quote short for ease of reading but yeah I've cut a few people loose in the past few weeks after seeing their reactions. Fortunately balanced out by the positive, helpful comments on here though. Main reason for putting myself through this gluten challenge business isn't so much to get the diagnosis but more to find out just how bad the damage...

Already had that looking on experience and in the end had to leave the room as it was unbearable just sitting there with people laughing at me not being able to eat, yup people are cruel and really show their colours at times like this. Tbh based on the reactions I've had from people my age so far the kissing thing will be irrelevant as no one will stick...

Going private no problem with getting the tests now, adds financial pain to the physical pain but better than 6 month waiting list on the national health service. Just feels like a lot of pain and aggravation to tell me what I already know deep down. Feels like my whole future has been taken away with this and I have a feeling I haven't even seen the...

Back on the gluten foods for about a week now and it's hell, if there was any doubt that the blood test wasn't accurate I can say with unerring certainty now it's definitely gluten causing the problems. The headaches, muscle pains, sore throat (reflux no doubt) and general feeling of malaise all back with a vengeance. As predicted it's worse this time round...

So had the private appointment on Monday, make a refreshing change to talk to someone who seemed to actually know what they were talking about and have symptoms checked right back from the beginning. As everyone on here correctly stated I have to go back on gluten for 4-6 weeks before being able to have the endoscopy, all seems a lot of effort to confirm...

Yup that sounds a sensible way to approach it, seems to be the direction I'm going in by looks of things Private appointment with a gastro specialist now booked for next Monday so will see how that goes, money talks I guess

I had some magnesium oil at home which I started applying a few days back when my leg muscles were feeling really weak and cramped up. Managed to recover sufficiently to get back to playing football yesterday and even had enough energy to pop up with a couple of goals so I'd say it helped - glad I saw this thread Do whatever it takes to try and get... -
ARCHIVED 9 months on gluten free diet and NOT OK !

Out of interest how definitive was your blood test result? Mine was off the charts but have a feeling I'll be told to go back on gluten for the biopsy test too after being poorly advised (common theme that) by doctors. So many posts I've seen are about gaining weight yet I'm more in the same boat as you, worried about losing it as that seems to be the...- 24 replies

Bit of an update... So today was meant to be my appointment with a gastro specialist where I thought I'd start to get some answers about the next steps and what I should be doing but oh no... ...I take time off work, travel down to the clinic I was booked in with and get to front desk... "your name's not on the list"... hmmm. I sit and wait for...

Yeah I do some relaxation class once a week (could do with it every day at the moment!) which really helps for the time I'm there. Never able to replicate it outside for some reason, must be the environment that makes a difference. Unfortunately I had a bad reaction with acupuncture when treating a sports injury which actually flared the muscles up so...

Sadly it does seem that the health profession is now driven by money and some shady dealings with pharmaceutical companies rather than putting the patient's well being first. Such is the way the world seems to work these days. Thanks for the good wishes, fingers crossed

Indeed, unfortunately most of the ones my age react the same way... social isolation here I come...

Oh no they're not putting any effort in at all, requires constant complaining to get anything out of them. Only got diagnosed because I had a list of tests from my Google research that I wanted done (still haven't completed the list yet, thyroid is next up) ESR \ CRP is particularly scary because of GCA \ Temporal Arteritis and right now I have tender...

Unfortunately my so-called friends think it's one big joke and so far doing a great job of making me feel even worse about it. Constant jibes and comments like "nice dose of gluten on that for you" when making tea and so on. Really showed their true colours over the past few weeks that's for sure. Can't help but remember a quote I saw, I think on a thread...

Obvious troll is obvious... It's not "just" a case of stopping gluten - just read a few threads on here and it seems the hell is only just beginning into a journey of food intolerance, contamination paranoia and complete loss of all enjoyment and flexibility around food. Then add the proven increased risk of contracting another nasty autoimmune...

I've pretty much given up all hope on that front now since diagnosis. It's a tough, judgemental world in the dating scene without having to explain you've got a disease (is it just me or does the phrase "celiac disease" make it sound even worse?!) and the subsequent limitations on socialising that come with it. It's horrible to think that rest of life will...

I'm fighting to retain my bit of sport during the week but muscles seem to be getting weaker by the day since removing gluten. Hardly seems to be a healing process right now Without that sport I don't have any reason to make it through the rest of the week so I'll keep going until I break down completely, it's one thing I don't give up without a battle... -
Got my first appointment with a gastro specialist next week so will see what comes of that - hopefully get some more sense than I've had from the medical profession so far! The intolerances worry me, as does this cross reactivity theory as if any of those come into play as a vegetarian I'll end up wasting away Already feel like that at the moment, seem...

Thanks for the info, yup always been surprised my B12 levels have been OK when I've had blood tests - the supplements I take for it must be doing the trick. Vitamin D is more interesting, not sure if that was on the tests will need to check that. The acid is driving me nuts at the moment, seemed to have been triggered by an Amy's Kitchen lentil soup...

Until my recent blood test results I've been having cinnamon and mint tea in the mornings, which seemed to have a positive effect calming the digestive system (and tastes good too!) After the first step of diagnosis with high Iga TTg I took at look at the cinnamon sticks I make the tea with and it says "packed in a factory that may contain wheat, corn...

If I do have to go back on gluten for a bit it'll at least be a temporary relief from the withdrawal symptoms (or at least what I hope are just withdrawal symptoms). Today's returning malady is acid reflux, something I'd thought I'd seen the back of recently. Really need that to calm down as PPIs the doctor gave before were evil medication and caused 10x...

No I'm in the UK, from what I've been told that's a good thing for gluten labeling and standards compliance. What you and everyone else on here says makes more sense than what the doctors are saying (a confused message at best is what they're giving me, each one with a slightly different version of it). My referral letter is in the post so on theory...

At the moment it's microwave rice packets as it needs to be something easy for lunch at work. What do you choose for breakfast? At the moment I have gluten-free porridge oats with fruits but also seeing oats are a bit of a gamble in the early days. Trying to figure out how long a reaction takes to show up i.e. if I feel ropey later in the day is it really...

OK so been to the doctor, they've sped up my referral and I should get the appointment booking form in the post shortly. They've said stay off the gluten until I have a date for the appointment then in the weeks leading up to it go back on - thoughts? Did my bit of sport last night which was a great relief to be free of any illness-related thoughts for...
